how long did you wait before working out?

Hi ladies! I just gave birth 10 days ago, but I am already starting to get the urge to workout. I know it's still a little soon, but I was wandering how long you waited before resuming Cathe workouts and other activities. I had a wonderful, natural delivery, with no episiotomy and no tear! I am anxious to lose the extra weight. I know that breastfeeding will help, but I am still 30lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight and can't fit in ANY of my clothes! Any advice or wisdom would be appreciated! TIA!

The standard physician's advice is 6 weeks. I'd start out with lots of walking, and then gradually add more.

4 days. :)
I ignored the doctors advice and went with how I was feeling. I delivered vaginally, so there were no issues with ab muscles healing and whatnot.

Go with how you feel. I felt immensely better once I started working out again. And I went back into it full swing - no ramp up. I credit starting back so early with being able to get into my pre-preg clothes at 3 weeks pp. (I also worked out with Cathe my whole pregnancy).

Be conscious of your body and your abs will take some patience to get strength back. But I say go for it if you feel ready!

Wow, 4 days! I'm ready, but not quite sure how to juggle WO and the little one. I did 4DS KB the other day and she was awake before I could tack on abs. Plus I feel so tired, I'm afraid to expend too much energy! I'm also recovering from mastitis and am still in a lot of pain. And I am no where near my pre-preg clothes! I had to go shopping for some new stuff b/c I am 2-3 sizes bigger and 25lbs heavier! I am dreading having to lose, but am miserable with the extra fluff!!!

I started walking 3 weeks postpartum. I was ready and my body was ready. I had an easy birth and fast recovery. I started Cathe DVDs 6 weeks postpartum (low impact and light weights). I am now doing high impact and adding heavier weights to my routine. Sometimes an hour workout turns into 2 hours cuz LO needs me. That's frustrating but I push through and get it done. :p

Hi Ladies,

I'm 13 days out from baby's arrival. Two days ago, I decided I was ready and tried High Step Circuit (Intermediate). It wasn't too bad. I had to lower the high step during leg presses though and kept with a light weight. Yesterday, I did Circuit Max, again keeping with a fairly light weight. What surprised me was the hi-low, which was very difficult. I felt like I forgot how to do a jumping jack! It's been nine mos after all.

Anyway, just about 2 weeks out, and I feel pretty good, so I'm slowly getting back into workouts. A lot of my muscle strength is gone though, so I'm talking weights very slow. And I usually can only do half a workout at a time, as the LO usually needs me more.
