How long did it take you to learn Imax 2 ?

Good morning ladies

How long did it take you to learn the Imax 2 choreography? I read where some lady said it took her 3 years  . It usually takes me 2 days to get her choreography. Thanks.

Imax 2 was I think the third Cathe workout I purchased. I think the choreography took me maybe 5 or 6 times? But the actual workout took longer, as I was trying to learn how to catch my breath!! :p

I think maybe a couple of times, maybe even once. This workout (to me, anyway) is about the athletics rather than complex choreography. Now that lady who took two years (I can't even imagine! I would have given up WAY before that!) must be a complete newbie to step workouts and to Cathe! I've been doing Cathe for so long that I'm familiar with her style and she combines moves that she's used previously as well as "common" moves that many instructors use in their choreography. Maybe the lady should try some of the earlier Cathe's that use pretty basic and more linear moves.

Don't laugh but it took me about 2 months. It was my first Cathe video(had high step circuit for beginers but it was too easy so I thought I'd try Imax 2!!). I had to break it down- the first 2 weeks I did cycles 1-3 twice a week then added on 2 more cycles for 2 weeks,2 more cycles for 2 weeks, and then the last 2 weeks I just did 8-10! I also did it twice a week. In my defense- I'd never done another workout like this before. However, I made it through Imax1 and Imax 3 the first time when I got them. (I also had to learn the choreography, and I think Imax 2 has the most complex- or by the time I got Imax3 I was used to it). Two years though is too long, I would have given up by then!!:)

At the time I purchased Imax 2 I had basic step/body fusion, and low impact step as my introduction to Cathe. Following her beginner rotation she suggest C&W as the next DVD to try. That's how I got IMAX 2. I really couldnt wait to get it since all the reviews on these forums for IMAX 2 were so positivel.

I jumped right in and did Imax 2 the first time I put it in the DVD (at least I tried to keep up). I found the steps familiar. It was just keeping up with the blast that I found challenging. I still have a little trouble with coordination for the shuffle repeater, but I do my own repeater combination at that point.

If you have some of Cathe's other DVD's like Basic step and Low impact step, I think you will catch on with no problems.

Deanie,

No way would I laugh at anyone who takes time learning any choreography! I couldn't "get" the first Christi Taylor video that I bought, put it aside for a couple of YEARS and then tried it again and could do it then! I think you have to "get used to" any instructor and the cuing and moves. It's really satisfying to finally get the moves down though, isn't it?

Ok Kool ! I already have Basic step, Low Impact step, Low Max and Cardio & weights mastered . I was just skeptical when I heard the 3 years comment lol.

I did intervals 1-5 only once a week for about a month, then went on to something else...whatever other workout I could do. Then, one day, I decided to go through the entire thing and had to repeat interval 6 and 8 a couple of times, but nothing too drastic.

I think it took me a couple of times. I didn't think the choreography on that one is too hard. Lo-max was hard for me. Not the workout itself but the moves. I tried Rhythmic step once on fitv to see if I wanted to buy it. NO WAY. It was way to complex for me. When the steps are difficult, I don't feel like I get a good w/out. I am too busy walking in place trying to figure out what Cathe is doing!
