How grows it?

For the expectant women on the list, how is your belly growing? At 25 weeks, my uterus seems to have expanded high enough to begin pressing on my stomach, and is starting to crowd my lungs. I had heartburn most of the night, which made it hard to sleep. I think I'm going to have to start eating very small meals, constantly, in order to prevent the heartburn. The weight of the belly is also fatiguing my lower back more. My hips are feeling very loosey-goosey, and I sometimes have some sciatica pain on the right side.

How's your belly?
Sandra

I'm almost 23 weeks and you can definately now tell I'm pregnant. I'm carrying low and it is giving me major low back pain. I have a lot of trouble getting comfy at night to fall asleep too. I'm not looking forward when the time comes that I'm going to need assistance getting up out of a chair. LOL

i went to the dr. at 25 weeks for a checkup and it measured right at 25 weeks. it's so big i am having alot of back pain (mid to upper), i cannot get comfy for the life of me to get any sleep, i am constantly going to the bathroom from the pressure. i am now as big as i was when i delivered ds....:-(
also, at times my legs feel like lead.

I carry very high too. I am 19 weeks, and the heartburn has been bad since week 12. I never have heartburn except with pregnancy. The heartburn is so bad that I cannot swim without having reflux. I started Nexium at week 35 with baby #2; this pregnancy will have me taking Nexium much sooner. I am taking generic Zantac now which is barely working. Kristan, 11-1-05, #3

Well, I'm at 25 weeks too and already feel big. I figure at the rate I am growing I will be absolutely huge by the time DD gets here. With DS I carried very low with him and all of the weight was in the tummy, but with DD I am big everywhere. With this little one I have also been experiencing heartburn since probably week 12 or 13. However, my main issue with this pregnancy has been the sinus problems I have been having. This problem has been ongoing daily for 2 almost 3 months and nothing that I can take medication wise has helped. I can deal with blowing my nose 24/7, but the lack of sleep that has came with it has been really hard to handle due to working fulltime outside of the home and then trying to take care of DS (almost 3) while DH has been out-of-town a lot. Luckily, with the heat & humid weather that is hitting my area it has made all of these symptoms tolerable. Hopefully they will eventually be eliminated as summer continues on. All in all, I really love the fact that I actually look pregnant now.

Sandra, is the lower back fatigue, hips loosening up, and sciatica pain effecting your workouts any?

How is it growing - big LOL! Actually in the last few weeks the rate of growth has slowed down some. I am largest around the belly button but at 18 wks that is what I expect. So I'm not sure if I'm high or low yet, still think it's to early to call. My back - sucks off and on, and this week was a milestone for me... I'm now in compression hose - sigh. My veins behind my left leg started to pop in two places, so wala compression hose - NOT FUN, expecially in the summer. I refuse to wear them w/shorts so inside is the only place I'll wear them, unless it's cool enough to where them outside. Boy pregnancy sure makes you feel sexy doesn't it ;-)

Julie - Are the veins popping painful? I'm not familiar with compression hoses, are they like pantyhoses? That would be awful to wear in the summer. It is already hot and humid where you live isn't it?

They are not painful - yet. I do feel a weird sensation in them - kinda like a pulling feeling but not quite. And the are like pantyhose and about as thick as a wet suit you surf in, no joke. They a tight and a pain in the but to wear. Everytime I have them on I feel like a penguin - waddle waddle. x(

well i am 18 weeks and 5 days it's kinda hard to tell right now. i already had a little bit of a belly that i was just starting to lose before i got pregnant and then it seemed like once i found out i was pregnant i was bloated. i've gained about eight pounds so far but i swear all of those are in my boobs! i'm so top heavy its ridiculous! but i am feeling like my belly is getting bigger. i am having pains in my hips and thighs but nothing too terrible right now. i guess i would describe the pains as being sore from a workout -- and i haven't done that in a few weeks. (i know, i gotta get back into it)

nonetheless, i'm enjoying the journey.

I'm 24.5 weeks and am pretty huge at this point. The baby was measuring about 9 days ahead of my due date at my 18 week u/s (my stomach is measuring 2 weeks). But, they don't want to change my due date based on the first early u/s I had. I'm definitely going to be MUCH bigger than the first go around with DS. My hips/pelvis/tailbone have been giving me an absolute fit. It was so bad last Monday and Tuesday that my OB sent me to a physical therapist. The pain between my legs was horrible!! I'm doing much better now, but am still having the what I think is normal pregnancy pain at this point (the pain when getting out of bed....and such and the sharp low back pain every now and then). Today, the physical therapists gave me some neat pelvic/ab stabilization exercises to do on the ball. I'm not suppose to do any inner thigh stretches or hip openers. I think pile squats did me in the other day! I'm suppose to focus on hamstring stretching and keeping my pelvis stable for the rest of the pregnancy. So, my butt is just going to get bigger - ha-ha!

I am 18 1/2 weeks and feeling great. The bulk of my belly is still largest under my belly button but the frequent urge to pee has finally lessened considerably. My belly is growing above my belly button too so I am much more round (actually more oblong) and loving it.

I started showing around week 14, not sure why so soon, and am now noticeably pregnant. I was out of my pants by week 14 and can not wear my normal tops anymore because they all end up too short. Doc says I have gained 10 pounds but I disagree because by her first weigh in at 6 weeks, I had lost 3 pounds so I think I have only gained around 7. So far it is all in the belly and I am not growing anywhere else. Sleeping is a bit uncomfortable since it has to be on my side but I am getting used to it.

This is my first and I AM LOVING IT :)

Hi Kristi,

Not in a huge way. For my lower back, I modify any weight work that Cathe does in the "table top" position, by doing them at a 45 degree angle (usually Cedie is modifying like this, too), and don't go as heavy with my barbell weight during squats. For my loose hips, I make a conscious effort to keep my core muscles firm. I still find that I lose my balance a bit at times, but not so much that I consider it unsafe. The sciatica pain only presents itself during a workout when I move myself out of a lunge on my right side. So, after doing static lunges I move out of them slowly and gently, putting all my weight on my left leg.

Cheers,
Sandra
