How do you upload an avator image?

Hi Gang,

I know that I've seen this some where in the forum, but I can't find it. Can someone help me get my picture in here? I'm not real good at computers, but I would like to try. I can, if it is explained in detail. Don't mean to be a bother.

Hi Janie

Your picture has to be hosted on a pic hosting site, like Picturetrail or Photobucket, in order for you to upload it to an avatar. If you have it on one of those kind of sites, you have to find the url address for the img and copy that into the avatar section on your profile.

Does that make any sense?

How do I do this? What is the hosting site address? Do they charge money to use their service? What is url and img? Sorry, I'm most likely a lost cause.

Picturetrail.com is free to use. They have really easy instructions and you can set up albums and so on. url is the address the pic is hosted at and img means image. You're not a lost cause:)

So, go to Picturetrail.com and set up an account. Then, to get pictures into your album, click on the "Upload Pics" tab at the top of the screen. You can choose to upload upwards of five images at a time. You browse on your computer to find the file, then upload it.

Once it's uploaded and in your album, go the tab marked "URLs" towards the top right hand side of your screen. Click on that, ask for the URL for your album, and you want the one that is specifically for forums. Copy that address and paste it into the avatar section of your profile and BAM!:)

I've tried the URLs in the top right hand side of that screen. But It refers to HTML (or something like that) is that what I want? When I do this, I get all this garbled stuff. And a whole lot of it.
Anyway, after I get the pictures in my album, what next again? I only want one picture in my avitar, then the rest in a picure trail, you know like everyone elses.

I just did mine. Here's what to do:

Go to picture trail.
Login.
Image URLs.
Get Image URLs.
Select the album you want.
Then there are 6 links listed there...copy the one titled "Forums IMG Tag".
Then come to Cathe's user menu and go to your profile.
Paste the copied link into the space for the avatar.
You will need to delete the [ IMG ] at the beginning and at the end of the link that gets pasted there.

VIOLA.

That should do it for ya!

I think I'm doing what you are saying, but I'm not getting it. I'm sorry, I guess I'm a hard case. I don't see where the 6 links are. And I don't see "Forums IMG Tag". I loged in; Went to Image URLs'; selected the album I wanted. After that I see no links.

Select the album you want and click the "continue" (or whatever it says) button next to the album drop down menu.

Then you get a screen that asks if you want thumbnail images or full size. Click on thumbnail images.

You should get a screen showing all your pics in that album, each with this underneath:

IMG SRC for auctions:
Direct Image Link:
Forums Tag:
New! Clickable Thumb:
New! Thumb to Album:

With the URL in a box next to it. Click on that box, with the URL in it, and it will highlight that URL. Right click and choose Copy from the menu that comes up. Then go to your profile and Right click again, and paste that url address into your avatar section.
 
I just did mine as well (with some help from DH ). I am posting to see if the image comes up with this reply.

How do you find the Image URLS???

When I login to Picturetrail, all I see is my album. I click on that and there is nothing on that screen that shows URL's? When I click on the photo I want, there still is no URL's anywhere to be seen. What am I doing wrong??? All I see is my album and then I can click on slideshow. Am I on the wrong screen?
