how do you split your workouts

i wanted to know how you split your workouts up (weight training and cardio)? I like to get everything in monday thru friday but I often don't have 2 hrs a day to work both cathe's cardio and weight training segments. i have been doing my own thing but i miss the motivation i get from working out to cathe and i miss her workouts. so i wanted to know what you all do and how long you workout for during the day. thanks

Hi kariev,

I just finished Cathe's Oct. 07 rotation! I will start Cathe's Nov.07 rotation Monday! I wanted to start the rotation today, but I am a little choreography challenged. I would recommend go to the Video & DVD rotations and choose a rotation! Cathe does it for you!!

Hope this helps!

Here's what my workout week usually looks like

Mon - cardio
Tues - full body
Wed - cardio
Thurs - circuit
Fri - off
Sat - full body
Sun - cardio

I find this usually works best for me. I usually do a Cathe circuit and full body workout every week. For instance this week I did Muscle Max for full body and did High Step Challenge for the circuit workouts. I don't do her cardio due to a knee injury and stick to spinning, elliptical, swimming or treadmill.

ETA - I workout for about an hour a day when I do workout.

Hi kariev,

I take two days off from working out during the week because of my work schedule, so I have to work out on the weekends. I'm doing a three-week S&H rotation right now, and here's what it looks like:

Fri S&H Legs & Shoulders
Sat Cardio (today it's Low Max)
Sun S&H Chest & Back
Mon Cardio
Tues Off
Wed S&H Tri's and Bi's
Thurs Off
Repeat . . .

I try to squeeze in a third day of cardio if I can, but I've been cutting way back on the cardio and seeing better results by concentrating on weights instead.

I know you mentioned in a previous post that you wanted to decrease some of your muscle mass, so maybe you could do three days of cardio and just two days of weights . . . .

Good luck!

The work out schedule from P90X is actually based on 5 days. The other 2 days are for yoga and a rest day. If you follow a similar schedule but take out the yoga it could look like this:

1) chest, back, abs
2) cardio
3) shoulders, arms, abs
4) cardio
5) legs, back, abs

They also split up this way:

1) chest, shoulders, triceps, abs
2) cardio
3) back, biceps, abs
4) cardio
5) legs, back, abs

If you wanted to add more cardio you'd have to play around with it and try to find a way to add it before or after some of the weight work I guess.

HTH a bit.

The rotation I'm about to begin includes:

M: yoga or stretch
T: cardio + 4DS C&B (approx. an hour total)
W: cardio + legs + core
R: cardio + either walking lunges, wall squats, or k'box drills (or a combo thereof)
F: cardio + 4DS B&T
S: 4DS SCC + run
S: legs + run + pullups

If you take out the yoga and extra day leg day, you'd work all body parts 1x per week and have 5 days of cardio.
