How do you fit Kickboxing into your rotation?

Hey all:

Since you're using more muscle with kickboxing than with other cardio workouts, can you still do weights the day before and the day after?

Thanks,

Carol F

I kickbox 3 times a week at my health club. The gal that teaches there is amazing. She is comparable to Cathes Kickbox tapes...only much more plyo/circuits/ and athletic moves using the step alla Gin Miller's intense moves. In conjunction to these k.box classes I add Bootcamp cardio+lower body,High Advanced Step Training, and Gauntlet workouts for other intense cardio/weight workouts. Twice a week I add heavy weight work using PUB/PS/or MIS. I also love, love, love using the Smith Machine at the club for heavy squat, lunges and calves.

How about sticking Kickbox in to your week the day after heavy lifting, to help ease soreness out of the muscles, and the day before a scheduled rest day? That way, you could be back to weights again, should you wish to, after your rest day.

Hi Carol! Yes I do this all the time. I just worked this week on Sat. my chest & back & on Sun. I did a kickboxing DVD. If your arms are up for it go for it but if your feeling sore then I would put a day or two in between. HTH, Kathy:D

I just use it like any other cardio day. If I did heavy upper body the day before, it is a bit sore at first, but works the soreness out of the arms and back.

Or, if I do kickboxing and then upper body the next day, that works too.

I also treat kickboxing like any other cardio day, unless I'm doing one of the great KPC/Legs&Glts premixes. Then I count it as a legs day. I like Clare's suggestion on rotation placement, though. I'll have to give that a try.
