How are all the new mommys doing??

Just wanted to check in...I must say that I am very tired. Andrew is eating every 2-3 hours and I dont see an end in site. My oldest son is so active during the day that I cant fit in any naps. Andrew has now grown out of 3-6 months clothing and is entering 6-9 months. He is such a moose!!!I am looking foward to getting a full nites sleep but for now I will enjoy the infant phase which ends sooo quickly. I am going to the ob on mon so I will find out if I need a specialist for the tear. I will keep you posted.

Mary, sleep, what is that? Ashley is nursing every 2-3 hours at night as well but does nurse quickly and goes back into her bassinet at night. Her older sister was a nightmare at this age, nursing for an hour then staying up an hour or 2 at night. I have been working out when oldest naps, so no nap for me either. Older sister is doing great with the baby except for a little jelousy. As if this week, Ashley weighed in at 8 pounds , 3 ounces and almost fits into her 0-3 month clothes now. She has been wearing either premie or newborn 5-8 pound clothes. She is currently asleep in my arms. Hard to believe she is 6 weeks old today.

i think b/c we are just 10 days into this i am not too too exhausted yet. finn is nursing every 1.5-3 hours. sometimes goes back to sleep at night after a feeding, but not last night.... he is just so darn cute though, i just love looking at him. he is gaining weight like a champ though. now up to 5lbs11.5oz. cannot wait for his 2 week checkup next week. meanwhile, my bloodpressure is coming down thankfully without meds. i am managing to exercise moderately most days. lots of walking, though i did do step this morning. it feels so good!! napping is not quite happening yet, but soon i hope. also, i think we will try a bottle of pumped milk sometime this week so dh can help with the feedings. anyone doing that? if so, how early did you start? any tips?

i love being a mom. i cannot imagine managing a otddler too, but perhaps you just adapt. finn is swimming in his 5-8lb clothes, so we have a ways to go till he catches andrew:)

mary, i meant to ask you, do you feel alright with your tear what are they looking to evaluate? from your workouts you posted, it doesn't seem to be holding you back. i hope you are comfortable at least.

Morris, it was recommended to me to wait 2 weeks before starting a bottle. I sometimes pump or give Ashley formula. She actually loves her bottles. I introduced the bottle too late with dd#1 and she refused to drink from a bottle. Glad the blood pressure is coming down.
Mary, keep us posted on the tear, sounds like you are doing well.

Mine eats every hour during the night. At least she is finally staying in her bassinet. For the first 10 days she had to be held while sleeping. We introduced the bottle on the third day as I needed to supplement because I was not producing enough milk. I needed to do this with my first as well. I am producing enough now but it sure is nice to be able to skip a feeding now and then and have my husband do it. Also if we are out I take a bottle just in case.

We had a one week check up and she was down to 7 lbs 6 oz from 8 lbs 2 oz. We have another appt tomorrow. Doctor said she should be back up to birth weight.

I sleep from 7 pm to midnight and then I take the night shift. I am getting some sleep but am up every hour and then up for the day approx 5-6am. I have just been doing walking as exercise.

rachel, it sounds like you guys have things figured out! what good ideas you have. i am anxious to introduce a bottle so dh can help with the feedings. it is encouraging to hear you started it so early and are doing well. how much does she take per feeding?

hope you start to get some more rest or take some naps. walking does feel good, doesn't it? have a good holiday.

I was told by the nurse at the hospital to only let her have a half an ounce after breast feeding. I let her have as much as she asks for though. Sometimes its a half an ounce after breast feeding sometimes it is almost two ounces. She can eat 3 ounces if I haven't breast fed. I think this is alot for a two week old baby but my doctor said to let her have as much as she asks for because he wants her back to her birth weight by today.
