Hormonal Eating Binges!

Has anyone ever had one of these???? I made cookie dough earlier just to eat the dough, not make cookies!! I am 32 and I take BCP and the homonal swings are horrid. I don't even want to be in my own skin. Anyone have any suggestions of things that helped them through? I think sometimes I am pre-menopausal! I binge on horrible things and then feel guilty and kill myself exercising to get it off. Does that make sense????

Yes, that makes sense. Without boring you with the details, what has finally WORKED for me is to mark on my calendar just when the PMS stage should hit. I say SHOULD because I'm not on the BCP, but I'm pretty 'regular'. I'm such a plan-ahead person and if it's not on my calendar, it just doesn't get done or remembered. SO....putting some stars on my calendar (better than actually writing PMS for all to see, lol) I can sort of plan ahead and expect the cravings and the mind wandering to 'the dark side of eating'......I can easily explain WHY and that really helps me. May sound corny, but that's what works for me.

I had to have a hysterectomy a few years ago--I still have my ovaries. But I can track my cycle by my food cravings, my skin breaking out, and my wanting to bite everyone's head off for being so impossibly irritating.

It helps when I feel so out of control to take a step back and remind myself I'll be okay in a week or so--if my family lives through it. Yoga has really helped me, particularly Kundalini Yoga. I slacked off the yoga last month in favor of increasing my other workouts, and I was waaayyyy worse.

HTH,

I have been going through that all week. I get terrible cravings for carbs, all sorts of carbs particularly the bad carbs. Interestingly I noticed that if I work out very hard my cravings actually get worse, whereas if I do moderate exercise during that time it's not nearly as intense. So I think I'll try to mark my calendar when it's does happen, I'm on the BCP too and workout but moderately, nothing too intense. I also try to give myself a break and realize it won't last forever.

Been there and done that many many times. My periods are usually 2 weeks late so PMS can last 4 weeks. I really put on some weight (and this is not a water weight) If I don't control the amount of carbs I eat, there is no stopping me during PMS. I can eat like there is no tomorrow. My brain just craves it more carbs. Thankfully I only binge on fruits and yogurt as I don't eat any grains to begin with. The only way for me to stop the carb cravings is to dramatically reduce the carbs. This works beautifully for me.
