Hope I wasn't supposed to get to failure...

because I started STS today disc 1 and felt NOTHING in my muscles, hardly. I am wondering if I underestimated my strength on the 1RMs and was a weakling when I did them... ? OR, I am just so used to high endurance?? Anyone else feel that way on the STS endurance DVDs???

Thanks! Clarissa

No, the first time I did STS, I was wiped out and had DOMS for days. I was also using much heavier weights than I was used to for Cathe's endurance workouts. So if I might normally reach for 5's and 8's for shoulders, and 10's for biceps, on STS disk 1, my card said to use 10's and 12's for shoulders and 15's for biceps. And using those weights definitely pushed me to failure. So if you are finding it easy, I would guess that you are correct about using weights that are too light. When you did your 1RM test, did you actually get to failure around rep 10?

Oh yes...I did. I am quite a heavy lifter...today, I was going by my workout card. I mean, I also used 15s for bi's, 25s for chest flies, etc, and that is supposedly 60% BUT, I am thinking somehow the workout order or 1 -set- per -exercise- thing didn't produce acute soreness nor did it produce failure...I'll see how back & tris goes...THX!!

I'm on my first week of Meso 2 and I did Meso one for 8 weeks and never felt DOMS except for the legs w/o. I had posted about no doms on Meso one and everyone replied with its more of endurance and it is common not to feel any doms. But let me tell you when you get to Meso 2 you will have DOMS like never before. Have Fun!! Lori

Hmmm... I remember now that week 1 was not the week that soreness set in for me -- it was in week 2 or 3, when the weights go up a bit, and so do the reps (disk 4 has 165 push-ups!). Also, like Lori said, some of us felt DOMS in M1 but not M2 (like me), and many felt DOMS in M2 but not M1. So it might be just what you are used to. I think Cathe says that if you are not struggling to eke out the last rep to grab a heavier weight. So think about that as you are going through M1, and quickly switch weights if you need to. Good luck!

I experienced the majority of DOMS in my legs rather than upper body. However, the DOMS I did experience didn't set in until a solid 24 hours after the workout. The day of, I felt just fine (except with legs). I was also used to doing more muscle endurance types of workouts so that could be a factor (one I hadn't thought of really)

THanks Heather. Boy, I thought I was doing something wrong. It affected my husband immediately and he was already sore before the w/o was over and I started to get jealous b/c he was sweating his a$$ off and I was like, um okay...

I even tried extra reps!! :)
