Homemade Cat Food?

I posted a few weeks ago about my cat's diabetes and what to feed her. Well we just found out two days ago that Comet the Wonder Kitty is cured of her diabetes! We'd heard that this can happen with cats if you take them off kibble, so DH and I decided to follow our own minds - instead of the vet's - and have been giving her only no-grain/super low-grain cat food. Seems like it worked! Anyhoo, if I remember correctly in my earlier thread, some of the Catheites mentioned making their own cat food or sources for homemade cat food. If anyone has any, please post, since for the life of me I can't find the original thread!

I'd like to make my own food or buy it in bulk because I don't like the number of cat food cans we're going through.

TIA!

I cook for my dog and really tried cooking for my cats. They won't eat hardly any of it. I have tried grilling, sauteeing, boiling, steaming--roast turkey? OK! If you find out something let me know because this is an ongoing search for me. I even bought a variety of books cooking for your pets and no go for the kitties. I am afraid I have no suggestions. But I really wish you luck!

Hi Sparrow,

Dr. Pitcairn's "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats" has cat food recipes in it. He also covers what supplements might be needed as well.

I have the book, but used it for the dog food recipes.

same here in that I tried it once and she wouldn't even lick it. I was going to try something else but it took me a lot of trouble to make what I did so I never did. If I found the right recipe I may try it again. My cat is over weight and she is eating the vets diet food and even less that they told me to give her (thats all she wants). I don't get why she can't loose weight.
