Homemade apple pie

Hi everyone,

I'd be nice if someone would answer my question.... I just bought a bunch of apples and planning to make a lot of apple pie. I've frozen apple pies w/out baking in the past. Now I'm wondering if I can freeze apple pies AFTER baking them.....??? And if I can do so, how long can I keep them frozen before losing the flavor etc.???

Hi... I've never frozen pies after they are baked. I did a quick search on the internet of different cooking sites and all the ones I looked at said to freeze before baking.

I have frozen apple pies after holidays and then just thawed and put in the oven to crisp them a little. My freezer book says frozen baked or unbaked fruit pies frozen, produce good results. Unbaked are more like fresh baked. Care must be taken to thicken filling sufficiently so lower crust will not be soggy in baked pies. To thaw baked fruit pies remove wrappings and place in 350 oven for 45-60 min.. If not to be served warm thaw at room temp..Baked pies and pie dough can be be stored 4-6 months.
