Buon Giorno, fellow stay-at-homers!
What did you have for your "Italian" lunch?

I made a pasta dish, sautéing red onions, garlic, zucchini, red pepper, green beans (from my front-yard garden), and crimini and baby portobello mushrooms, adding some fennel seed and fresh basil (unfortunately NOT from my garden, as the basil I planted---seeds--didn't grow :-( ). Then I threw in some cooked Penne Rigati (soy) pasta and topped it all with some mushroom pasta sauce that I then stirred into it all. YUM!

OOPS! I totally missed where we were eating italian today. :(
So I had a pb&j sandwich, which I was almost finished with and I guess I bit into a peanut & broke my temporary crown! Noodles would have been safer!! Good thing I go get my permanent crown tomorrow anyway!!
It's not been my day. As I was fixing my sandwich, I opened the fridge and out fell a glass jar of caramel ! Of course it broke and I had glass all over and a big sticky mess !! I've washed the floor twice and it's STILL sticky! :-( Blahhhh
Guess that's what I get for having CARAMEL in the fridge at all ! That's not exactly good for clean eating , is it??
BUSTED!!!!
:*

It's not quite lunch time yet here in CA so I have time to get the ingredients needed to make what Kathryn had. My goodnes, that sounds absolutely delicious!!!

Becky,

You seem like such a nice gal but please don't work out too close to me today :D . Seriously, be careful and don't miss that dentist apt tomorrow.

Kathryn,

I ate out of my garden yesterday at the potluck. Fresh veggies are the best, YUM :9 .

Todays lunch was ravioli with a small side salad and lots of H2o.

Oh, crap!
That must have been a hard peanut, or a soft temp crown!

I've broken actual teeth (with huge fillings, so not much teeth there) on popcorn "old maids" and "corn nuts." Then had to get crowns to replace the old fillings. Not a fun feeling to be chewing away, then hit something hard, and the realize it's NOT the food!

HA! Jordon, I'm gonna get a space waaaaaaaaaay in the back corner away from everybody!!! I'm dangerous today and don't want to hurt anyone!! ;(

Greetings home trippers
Today I'll be eating greens & beans italian style ( is there any other way?) at our friends pig roast...

I tried the smoothie recipe with the protein powder banana and PB and milk. I found it to taste almost like a peanut butter cup milkshake and it kept me full for over 4 hours! I then made 3 more for my 2 DS and DD for lunch; they approved too!

My actual Italian meal today was Angel Hair Pasta, whole wheat of course with omega 3's, with Peppery No-Cook Tomato Sauce. Wonderful Cooking Light Magazine recipe. I had an accompaniment of fresh green beans w/lemon and garlic.

I ended up going to an Italian restaurant on the Santa Cruz wharf yesterday and having clam chowder. We did have some bruschetta type stuff with roasted garlic that was out of this world, though. I live in San Jose and it was 95 degrees. We drove over to Santa Cruz (30 miles away) and it was 66 degrees. I was so cold on the wharf (I was dressed for 95) that soup felt wonderful. Okay, so clam chowder is not the best for you, but is was sooo good.
