Holiday Pigouts...

step22

Member
I know I'm not going to gain 10 lbs from eating lots of junk food (burgers, chips, soda, mac salad, cakes,...) during cookouts, etc., but I always feel so gross the next day, mainly because my tummy is so bloated.

I'm trying to lose 5-10 lbs by September which I know is doable, but I feel like I'll never get there if I pigout like this. Does anyone have little things they do to stay focused and get back on track after a weekend off from eating well and working out?
Thanks!!

Holiday pig-outs

I don't know if this will help, but I also bring a fruit salad. It's cool and sweet and fills me up. However, I still have my cake and eat it, too. Just not as much. After a weekend off, I tell myself,"OK, your muscles have had plenty of time for R&R, and they're probably stronger from the extra rest. So let's see If I can do more reps, weight, time, whatever, and really challange myself now." I don't know if it's true, but I love to compete and sometimes I'm my biggest challanger,so I try to beat myself. Weird, huh? But hey, maybe it'll work for you, too. Let me know!!

You will NOT die, & are not being bad from OCCASIONAL pig outs...

......The key, in my humble opinion, is not to beat yourself up over pig outs, and to actually give yourself PERMISSION to pig out!!!!!

Here's the deal: I think I really got a handle on my "eating thing" when I gave myself permission to pig out once a week, every week. It is on a weekend day, usually Saturday. I DON'T pork out ALL day, just in the afternoon. AND, I DO exercise on my pig out days. I go out to eat, and order FRIED STUFF!!!!!! Then, I go home and eat all the sweets I want, and I mean all! Then I fall on the couch and stay there until bedtime.

At midnight I turn into a pumpkin, and get back on track. It's not hard to get back on track, because there is NO GUILT involved! I don't feel bad, it's normal.

I exercise hard all week, and this is my small reward. When I'm on vacation, like next week, I'll get in 2 pig out days. I just make sure I get in extra cardio that week. Walking is my exercise of choice when on vacation, 'cause you can do it anywhere.

In a nutshell: give yourself permission, don't feel guilty, and get back on track. I have lost weight doing this, too.

Ta-ta for now, Chicks!

Thanks!

You're both right, my body and fitness plan aren't ruined. I think I just needed reassurance. Plus, playing badminton and swimming between eating junk food make it a little better. Tonight, I'll go to spinning class and give it my all.
Thanks again!

I do this too!

I have a pigout day once a week every week and I'm loosing weight doing this! So far I have lost 8lbs. I don't feel deprived because I know I can have anything I want and as much as I want that one day a week, I also feel I have a handle on my weight by doing this. I eat healthy all week long and drink plenty of water and do my workouts. If you really stick to just one day a week eating what you want and as much as want, I feel it really works!

Honeybunch, you are always so inspiring!

I love to read your posts! I've adopted a similar once a week pig out plan. It's great! I don't feel deprived & I think what you said about getting back on track being eaiser cuz there's no guilt involved is sooooooo true!

Me? Inspiring?!

Imagine that!!! I always lurch quietly in the background but picked this site to comfortably spill my guts!

Thanks for the compliment! I think I do pretty good for an old gal!

Honeybunch it's true

Hi honeybunch,
I agree you are an inspiration not to mention that whether you know it or not you definately motivate people.
I have read so many of your responses and I have to tell ya that your heart and spirit pours out into all your responses and they are all so genuine.
In other words I think you're a heck of a gal when I grow up I want to be just like you(that's for all your old statements)because if being old the way you say is to be like you then I am ready to be old & fit just like you(hee-hee)
Keep up the great work and the great post
