Hip Pain

StartingOver

I'm 40 and pregnant with 2nd baby. Have been doing step aerobics for over a year now 3 - 4 days per week. Lately have been experiencing VERY sore hips. I don't think it is round ligament pain... but wondering what to do!!! Tried various stretches & hot baths, but not much seems to help :( But am not about to quit exercising... any suggestions welcome.

If you are unsure, I would discuss it with your ob health care provider. Could it be sciatica?

My coccyx and hips bothered me with this last pregnancy, so I sought chiropractic care. If you do this, find one experienced with pregnancy. My chiropractor uses an "activator" for adjustments rather than manual adjustments... very gentle. The adjustments did wonders for me. If you decide to try this, you may want to discuss it with your ob health care provider.

Hope you feel better soon!

i spoke to my dr. about this also hip/pelvic pain so early. what she told me is that after your first pregnancy you will begin to feel things much sooner than with your first. as your body has already experienced this and now knows what to do. she said it's normal.

I have hip pain problems during the night in bed...I wake up by 4 in the morning in what is sometimes pretty severe pain that eventually fades to tolerable and I can fall back to sleep...the longer I spend sleeping on one side the worse it is. Once I get up in the morning and walk around a bit I am fine until the next night...

Have a great work out!

Wendy, I too have the same problem!

The less time I spend time standing during the day the better I sleep. I've been told that magnesium supplements work well too, but I think it's best to speak to your doctor and hear what s/he has to say.

Thanks for your input Jennifer V...and I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in this...not that I WANT anyone else to have to deal with it but I'm sure you know what I mean! ;-)

I don't spend a lot of time on my feet during the normal course of my day since I work behind a desk so I guess that isn't where my pain is coming from...If you ask me, I sit around too much! I'd much rather have the chance to be more mobile in my job. ;(

I hope it's not my work outs...I'd hate to have to stop...my sister had hip pain too though and is not an exerciser nor was she on her feet for any length of time on a normal basis so who knows!? lol

I have yet to mention this to my doc coz I have mentioned it to so many women who have children and no one seemed alarmed by it...so I am taking it as a pretty run-of-the-mill side effect...my sister said her hip pain went away when they purchased a water bed. Would LOVE that :+ but not something that is in our budget these days!...Oh well! lol

Take Care!

Have a great work out!
