Hiit question

When I do some of the hiit workouts sometimes I get a little light headed and sort of nauseous. Nothing horrible that makes me stop working out usually. If I bend over on my breaks it usually helps. Is this normal?

I get that nauseous feeling near the end of some HIIT workouts, I assume it's normal because I see people puke all the time on the biggest loser when they push really hard and they don't bring in the medics.

Not sure about the light headed issue.

It can be because you are low on sugar, especially if you are working on an empty stomach. I would suffer from this periodically, and it came on suddenly, where if I didn't sit down or get off my bike I was going to toss my cookies. I talked to my sports doc about this years ago and he told me too much water while cycling could cause this, along with low blood sugar. He also keyed in on my eyes, because I have an astigmatism and said that sometimes its due to being sea-sick because I can't focus as well, its akin to vertigo.

I will get that light headed and/or nauseus feeling when I push really hard with cardio but it's short lived and I've never passed out, threw up or even lost my balance b/c of it. I just give myself a minute to get my composure back and it passes with no problem so I've never really worried about it.

I recently asked my brother a similar question (he's a marathoner and much more knowledgable about these things than I), and he told me it's perfectly normal to get nauseous and dizzy when performing anaerobic drills because your need for oxygen temporarily outweighs the amount of oxygen available. I've heard having a fan in your workout room can help.
