high step - please help!

Cathlete
Hello,

I'm new here. I made the mistake of purchasing the Reebok step about a year ago, before I was introduced to Cathe's step DVD's. I find it a little unsafe when stepping directly off the side, as the base extends out a bit from the top.

Now I'm wanting to purchase the high step and I'm finding myself in a dilemma. Should I start out with 4 risers or get the one that comes with 5 risers plus the DVD? I'm a little over 5'10" and am not sure if the 4 would be tall enough for me to get the full workout benefit.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

Julie

If all you are buying at this time is the high step, then definitely go with the 5 risers version. At 5' 10", you are going to eventually need more than 5 risers for step ups, sit n' stands, and so you can be sufficiently raised off the ground when using your Club Step as a weight bench with 3 risers under each end, etc. I am 5' 8", 4 risers is not enough for me for anything.

However, if the money can stretch, and you are thinking of replacing the Reebok step with the Club step for extra stability and also because it is a great investment which will last you over 10 years of use, then get the Club step with the 4 risers, and the high step with 4, that way you have enough risers to use the high step for step ups, sit n' stands, and to use for seated overhead presses, tricep extensions, etc, rather than using a chair.

Cathe has just introduced onto her site a special offer for the sale of the new Club step. See if it is still on special sale. Maybe now is the time to invest?

I've been using my Step Reebok step for almost 20 years and it has never ever tipped over. I've not had any problems with it of any kind. Just sayin'.

ITA. I also have been using my Step Reebok for almost 20 years and it's never tipped over nor have a tripped on it or found it to be unstable. Your choice, of course. I'm just too cheap to replace a piece of equipment that's worked for years. It's in remarkably good shape, the only issue has been the letters on top have started to peel off a bit so it's now Step Peebok.

I have the Reebok step, as well. The edges don't go out far enough to trip over. If you're stepping that close to the step, you're stepping much too close. (Now whether I trip completely over the step or my own feet is a whole other story!) For the high step - definitely go with the 5 risers. It provides you enough height to use the step to sit on for any seated work, it's much more comfortable for things like triceps dips because you have more dipping space and it will make sit-n-stands easier, as well (not that I can do them). I actually ordered extra risers on top of the 5 for that very purpose. I think I have 7 to get the right height.

I was looking on Shopcathe.com and for the same price as the 5 riser package you can buy the high step with 4 risers, and then add on a pair of risers for a total of 6 risers. You will not get the DVD though.

Now if you just want to go all out and get both, and a couple dvds, they just sent out a coupon that if you spend $199 on the website, you get $40 off. The code is SAVE40 and is good through March.

Personally, I don't do Step dvds, and use the high step far more than the long step, but I did just buy the slanted risers for incline work, so maybe I'll use it more now.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I reevaluated my situation today and decided to stick with my Reebok step. After all, it is really good quality, and I think I was just becoming self conscious about tripping after comparing the different steps.

So I've decided to purchase only the high step with 5 risers, maybe even more. I did see the sale, but if I was going to spend that much money I'd rather get some more DVD's. :D

Thanks again to everyone!
