Hibernation?

I'm sure I must be experiencing hibernation. I've been so tired lately it's almost funny. I used to have everything perfect so I could sleep - pitch black, straight sheets etc. etc. Lately I can sleep anywhere...yesterday I dozed off at work in front of my computer! Last night, I konked out while folding clothes and watching Animal Planet with my dd. I woke up forty minutes later the show was over and she was gone! I'm not sure if it's the limited sunlight we're experiencing here in the north or if these Cathe videos are doing me in? I've only been doing Cathe for about 6 weeks - and I'm getting 8 hr of sleep at night I shouldn't be this tired. Anyone else experience this when they started Cathe or should I blame the lack of sun...or am I just getting old?:p

Ha!! Are you sure you're not pregnant?? How far north are you? I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, so we get very short days right now, too. I find I want to hibernate at this time of year, too. 5 years ago I was in my first trimester of pregnancy right at this time of year, so the two combined conked me out until the end of January. The last thing I remember is coming home from a trip to Chicago on December 6, then nothing until the end of January, when I came out of the coma. Oh, there was that really nasty gastro-intestinal virus I contracted the week between Christmas and New Years, but the gravol helped me stay in my coma.

And yes, a new level of physical expenditure can also contribute to tiredness. Whenever I kick things up a notch, I need more rest.

Glad to see a new Cathe-ite on the forums!

Hey I thought it wasn't polite to swear on these posts! I have three kids, my youngest is 11, I better not be!

Proud to say I live in "nowhere" Saskatchewan. The days are short - we're almost at the 'getting longer' point though. I was just in Edmonton a few weeks ago to see a Naturopath that helped me tremendously...and of course to shop. It was a hoot of a trip with 4 friends.

Thanks Sandra. I really think this is a great board with such a wide variety of opinions and people...and I really love this Cathe stuff. Every year when the cold hits I head indoors and gain 10 lbs over winter. It takes me till Aug to get rid of it and then the cold hits again and by Christmas I'm at an all time high. Not this year! Thanks to Cathe I'm even lower than I was in Aug. I feel good!

(What do you know I made it through a whole post without falling asleep!)
:)

Hello Fellow Canadians!
The days are shorter here but not as bad as yours! I am in Newfoundland! Imagine that! From one end to the other.
I have been really tired lately to.I don't think we give our bodies enough credit for the hard work it does. And this time of year is sooooooo busy, how can we not be tired? Today is one of the better days, I feel pretty good.Must have been the ck wings I ate last night before I went to bed.

This is just a thought but are you over training? Cathe's workouts are a big jump, intensity wise, from most other workouts. Fatigue is the #1 sign of over training. Without knowing how much you workout it's hard to say whether its that or not. It certainly could just be the time of year, holiday chores, etc.

Oooh Newfoundland! I was in St. John's for a week, about 8 years ago. It was mid-June, and the wind coming off the ocean made everything very damp and cold the whole time. I LOVED Nfld, but don't think I could live with that constant wind. It must make winters sooooo difficult? And the gradient slopes of the streets in St. John's are crazy!!! How do vehicles get up and down those hills when there's snow and ice on the roads? I loved the painted houses, though. And the people were beyond kind and interesting. I really want to go back to the east coast and nose around a bit more.

Trish, being from "nowhere" Saskatchewan, are you a fan of Corner Gas? We watch it, and think it's hilarious. Corner Gas and Rick Mercer's Monday Night Report are the only two primetime shows I make an effort to watch. Yes, I realized yesterday that we are only a few days away from the "shortest" day of the year. We currently have 7 hours of daylight, and when the sun is up, it barely gets above the horizon before dropping again. It always feels like it's either morning or evening. But the long sunny days in May-July help compensate, don't they? That is very impressive that you have managed to keep your weight down this year!!

Lori and Trish, how did you guys find out about Cathe workouts?

Cheers, eh?

Exercise does help you sleep better.

When you doze at your computer, do you try to cover it up and hide your head in your hands to make it look like you're reading the computer screen?
