hey tea drinkers

Hey,being in the south and drinking tea all time, even in the middle of winter....I used my coffee pot. But a tea maker works great as well! Annette

Hey all you southerners-
What is "sweet tea"? I was talking this over with a friend today, and our best guess is it's just tea with sugar and lemon--??

Yep - that's pretty much it :) I live in NC, but am not a Southerner by birth or by training - I think sweet tea is disgusting ... But then again, I'm not a fan of soda/pop either. The most aminstream comparison I can think of is the iced tea you can buy where you find soda - I think it's Nestle's or somebody who makes it ...

BTW - I adore unsweetened tea

I've got something similar that hangs right in my cup. Right now, I'm drinking lots of jasmine green... smells like heaven!! (Tastes great, too.)

>I gave up teabag tea ages ago.......

Ok, as somewhat of a newbie tea drinker, I've never done the non-tea-bag way; how does this work and I assume it is better tasting....do they sell loose leaf tea in the grocery or do you buy it online etc.?

It's a world apart, Kelly G! I thought as I read this thread it's been several months since I've had bag tea... well, LOL, except for yesterday when I had coffee with friends at Starbucks. I had tea there.

Loose tea is just wonderful... there isn't any dust, or bags, or anything. The leaves plump up and give out all their luscious flavors. YUM.

I am fortunate enough to have a Teavana store nearby. The maker pictured above in Pixie's link is what I have used since January. I love it! It has a hollow bottom that pours out the liquid when it's atop a mug but not when it's just sitting there. You pour your tea leaves and water into the upper portion and let it sit for as long as it needs to, then put the whole thing on top of a mug and the tea goes into the mug, leaving the leaves behind.

You may find loose tea at the store. Sometimes you can buy it at Starbucks or any coffee/tea store (my personal favorite is the coffee shop down my street that sells a wide variety of black/green/herbal teas). You might also try Adagio Tea which is an online store. I personally have had very good luck with them. They also sell the teapots. http://www.adagio.com/ Happy drinking ;)
