Hey, Shelley!

You go, girl!

I can totally relate to buying lipstick based on the name. Years ago I bought a tube of "Marionberry" at Garden Botanika---it was a year or two after the notorious DC mayor of the same name (different spelling) was all over the news. Thank goodness the color looked good on me, but, alas, it has been discontinued!

Oooh, how can I get to Target today??? I love that name!

I actually use the name thing to buy wine. Because I'm such an unsophisticated country bumpkin I really don't know a thing about wine so, I just buy bottles if the label makes me laugh.

Recent purchases:

Goats Do Roam
Running With Scissors

Yep. That's it! They also have a 3 pack of it and you get all 3 for $20. It has just a hint of color with the gloss and it tingles on your lips. LOL

Everybody does that. The place where I usually buy mine has little recommendation cards over certain bottles and I can judge somewhat by that but, other than that, how would you know? I've bought stuff everybody loves and wound up pouring it down the drain. I did that last night with some Hungarian wine known as Bull's Blood. I gave it a good try (because I'd heard about it in a really good movie called MUSIC BOX). Bitter bitter bitter. The one I popped open after that sucked almost as bad. Wine drinking is gambling because you never know what you're going to get.

I discovered what became one of my favorite wines at our local wine shop. The owner had placards on certain wines that had rated well from different wine magazines. I tried the Chateau Pesquie Cotes du Ventoux 'Les Terrasses' 2003 and fell in love! The 2005, which is what is out now, is even better. And it costs only $13.00!

Most wine shops have wine tastings, so that's a good way to find out which ones you like. Also, at restaurants, I'll ask for a taste of two different wines that they serve by the glass in order to decide which one to get. If I really like it, I'll make sure to get the name and year so I can buy a bottle (or two!!!) for home consumption!

Sorry - I'm the hijacker here!

I do have a couple of bottles that SO and I have found in our travels that we use as our special occasion wines.

We like Cline Ancient Vines zin and Landmark Overlook chardonnay.

I'm always open to trying new ones but it can be very intimidating (and expensive) to buy a bottle of wine with dinner.

Plus - to continue my country bumkin theme I really enjoy the tutti-frutti side of wines. Can't tolerate the dead serious oaky dry lip puckering wines.

Hey, that brings us back to lipstick! I can't believe there is a lipstick called Mother Pucker!

Suzanne - I don't drink, but I hear really good things about Fat Bastard (French) and Cat's Pee on a Gooseberry Bush (Australian maybe?).

*wipes yogurt off screen* I'm going to have to stop snacking at the computer.

OK, next time I'm at the liquor store it's gotta be Cat's Pee on a Gooseberry Bush.

SO has two male cats and, let's just say cat pee is a running theme.

Thanks for the laugh! :+
