Hey, Gizmoheads! Does this exist?

I am asking all tech-experts whether there exists a set of wireless headphones that magically transmit what's being played on your TV without actually being hooked up to it.

?????

As I was working out tonight it occurred to me that DH has gotten a little tired of being in an ersatz menage-a-trois with me and Cathe 3-4 times per week. It would make his dinner hour a lot more pleasant if I could slap on wireless, remote headphones so that he couldn't hear anything. Of course, I'd look like a Code-3 Freak with something like that, but what the hell.

Does ANYTHING like that exist?

TIA -

Yup, wireless headphones do indeed exist, although they are usually geared toward audiophiles, so they are the big honkin' full-coverage earphones. You may be able to find something more sleek though. My DH has a set by Acoustic Research, like these:

There are other brands too - you could probably just do a search on Amazon.com for "wireless headphones" and come up with a bunch. HTH! :)

Amazon has a TON:

I don't pretend to be a Gizmohead, but I can tell you that wireless headphones absolutely exist. I've had them for years and love them. I started out with them to use with my treadmill. I watch TV shows I have taped while running and the TV has to be way too loud to be able to hear over the treadmill and my pounding feet -- plus when working out when everyone else was asleep was pretty annoying to everyone! With the headphones, not only is the volume completely down on the TV, the sound is so much more clear since there is no ambient noise between you and the source.

There is a transmitter that attaches to your TV or your DVD player. (I connect mine to the DVD, since that's usually what I'm using them for. If I am using them directly from TV I just turn the DVD player on and tune the TV through that.) The headphones themselves are wireless. I'm on my second set and I've gotten both of them at Target. I'm sure Best Buy and other places like that sell them. It's been awhile since I bought mine, but I think they were about $60 and well worth it.
