Hi Briee and Melanie and Maggie! I have been on vacation for the past 2 weeks. Well, a trip to see my family and in-laws, no tropical getaway or anything.

Max is growing like the proverbial weed. He is so zesty- that is my favorite word for him. Lily is cute and rosy cheeked and 21 pounds at 7 months. She has saddle bags, which make me laugh everytime I look at them.

I am in an exercise slump, but my diet has never been cleaner. I look forward to getting back on track in the coming month.

Briee, I am very excited for you to read Eat to Live! Maggie and Melanie, go to the library or bookstore and pick it up (or his new book "Disease-proof your Child: Feeding Kids Right.")

How are Noah and Justin and Bardric and the babies?

Let's start a new thread and hear all the goings on!

I am excited to get back home and get to work on my vegetable garden for this year. We are starting from zero this year since we have moved and must build the grow boxes. I LOVE looking through my catalogs and deciding what to plant. I am funny that way!

Emy, I reserved a copy of both of those books you recommended from my local library. I'm an avid reader!! I'll let you know what I think. DH is a strong believer of diet & health...I KNOW he'll like them. :D I"m starting to get more focused on healthy diet too. :D LESS REFINED carbs and more HEALTHY carbs!!!

Emy--so good to hear from you! I'll have to look into that book. I've heard it mentioned lots on these forums. I'm eating much cleaner than I ever have before, but I'm not sure I could ever give up treats entirely. If I could eat really healthy 80-90% of the time, that would be great. I'm getting closer.

We do need to start another toddler thread!

EMY!!!! So glad you are okay!! Noah is a little boy now (smiley guy with tears). Hannah keeps telling me "he's NOT a baby, he's a little boy mommy". He is VERY sweet and VERY active, but not more so then Hannah. We are getting my ds's camcorder back in the next week and I will TRY to get pictures of him and everything else around here. I am motivated by Mel's beautiful picture trail. Justin is darling...I want to do a trail when I get the time.

So Emy you garden??? Too cool. We used to garden big time when we first moved to the country, but it has been so busy the past few years that we slacked off. I want a nice little garden this year. My problem is...dh goes out and plows up a HUGE space and I'm overwhelmed and it all turns to weeds!! I need to start small again!! We did raised beds a few years ago. Lots of work in the beginning and then less work than normal :7 :7 :7 How is the new home coming along??? I'm in an exercise slump too. I have been getting a few in per week and then sometimes do superdays where I do 2-3 workouts, but then I miss several days. I hoping things slow down here so I can get focused again. I meet with my ladies on Tuesday night so that's ALWAYS a definite workout...I need that now!! Great to hear from you!! Yes lets start a thread. I really don't belong in the ppd thread, but have no where else to check in. They are all so sweet to let me post anyway:7 :7 :7 :7 Although...I don't know about Mel...you know she doesn't even like bicep veins - imagine that :p :p :p :p

Briee (;) ;) ;) ;) )

Maggie, I have always had a huge sweet tooth. It is revolutionary for me to be eating this clean! I have never done it before. So, never say never, anything is possible. For the first few weeks it was mind over matter. Now it is easy. Just want you to know that it is not impossible for a self-proclaimed sweets lover as I thought I was!

Briee, I am using the Mittleider method for gardening. In the grow boxes, we mix our own soil (you can use combinations of sand and peat moss; sawdust and sand; sand, peat moss, and perlite; coffee hulls and fine sand, or other similar materials), so it is fluffy, lightweight, porous, loose, yet stable enough not to blow away or erode. This beats the weed problem because the soil doesn't have weed seeded into it and the few weed seeds that blow in are easily destroyed by merely rubbing the soil surface due to the loose and porous nature of these materials. This way there is no reason to abandon the garden to the weeds! Of course, we have to add all nutrients necessary to fertilize since the soil is deplete. Anyway, that was probably a little too detailed! We are thoroughly enjoying our house and where we live. I just wish there was more time to garden and I hope I am not getting in over my head now that I have a 2 year old and baby requiring most of my time. This is why I am getting so few workouts in. Hopefully, that will change sometime in the future. I think that is why I am so sold on my new eating habits. I am not gaining back any weight despite not working out much. I know my strength will decrease, but that is something I can deal with - I carry the little ones around so much anyway. But, I must say, the one workout I have done this week was the P90X legs workout (I skipped the pullups since I don't have a pull up bar) and my legs have been the most sore I can remember - going on 2 days and still very sore!

Melanie, I am looking forward to your take on the book. It is very surprising what he has to say about animal protein (not just the fatty stuff). Let me know what you think!
