anyone read this?
see the movie?

I just got the book today (just finished all Sophie Kinsella's - shopaholic series and others and LOVED them)....with my situation is this an okay book to read? See Broken Heart Thread

thoughts on it?

The book is great and this weekend -my girlfriends and I are leaving our husbands with the kids to see the movie!! So excited!

The book is truly more informational than a novel. It is great for all the woman out there who give jerks any time of day:)

MOVIE

I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET, BUT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! THERE'S A REALLY HUGE CAST OF GREAT CHARACTERS IN THIS MOVIE INCLUDING JENNIFER ANISTON I BELIEVE. BUT, NO I HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK. USUALLY THE BOOK IS WAY BETTER THAN THE MOVIE, WELL AT LEAST THAT'S MY EXPERIENCE IN READING PREVIOUS BOOKS AND SEEING THE MOVIE.

Love the book (and also the followup "Its Called A Breakup Because Its Broken"). Haven't seen the movie yet, but want to.

The movie appears to be a comedy using the same title but that, it seems, is where the similarities end. The book is actually an advice book written by a guy and a girl. His advice is enlightening. Her constant unnecessary interpretations of his advice are annoying. Still, If you get it at the library it's worth it if you're single, hetero, and wondering what the deal is with men, anyway.

Another really enlightening advice book I highly recommend is The MANual by Steve Santagati. He's a former model and kind of self-absorbed (though otherwise hot) but his remarks are backed up by interviews with a lot of other men and much of the information I really did not see coming. It made me realize how little I really understand those ruled by Mars!

OK, I saw HJNTIY last night. It had some funny moments, but overall I did not enjoy the movie.
Walking away I felt like the movie was convinced that all guys are jerks interested in getting as many women as possible into bed and no guy is actually interested in getting married. And women are only interested in "falling in love" it does not really matter with who and once they are in love they are only interested in forcing/manipulating a guy to the alter.
There were several funny scenes, but not enough to counterbalance the generally cynical tone of the movie.
My rating: 4/10

Oh, and I totally want to see Race to Witch Mountain.

Oh, and I totally want to see Race to Witch Mountain.

I think this is the reason I liked it. It's funny how two people can react totally differently to the same movie:). I liked it because I believed, for the most part, the message of the movie is right on. Most women do want the fantasy. I have seen women in their mid-40's who get carried away with the idea of falling in love and being "swept off her feet." These are professional women who have been in relationships and been burned before. Is it that we are ingrained to want that? Is it in our DNA? Who knows!

Also, I belive that that is what the majority of men want. My dad gave me a little insight when I was a teenager that sticks with me to this day.

Call me a cynic, I guess:p!

ETA: I totally want to see Witch Mountain as well. Of course, I would see anything with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I saw Scorpion King for goodness sake!!

Carrie - Have you seen "The Rundown"? Not high art, but entertaining with some good comedic moments. Dwayne Johnson and Sean William Scott make for some nice eye candy. ;)
