Help with Shoes

Hello!

Has anyone out there tried either of the following shoes:

Avia A690
Ryka N-Gage Trainer

How are they for cardio/weight workouts? What about sizing...true to size, size up a half size, whole size? Overall comfortability?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I didn't get the exact model you mentioned, but I know when I buy Avia's, or actually any workout shoe, I always go up a size. I am an 8.5, so I always buy a 9.:) Big foot here.

Angela, I haven't tried that Avia but like Avia generally and have bought several styles over the years. You can't go too far wrong with Avia. For step and kickbox, I prefer Rykas because of the way the soles are made (smoother), since I workout on carpet and the Rykas allow me less "drag".

I find that for me (narrow-ish foot) both Avia and Ryka run 1/2 size smaller than street shoes.

I did once order the N-Gage and returned them -- they were actually the only Rykas I've ever bought that I didn't like and just couldn't wear. I found the toe box to be too wide, and the shoe was too high and restrictive on my ankle.

My absolute all-time fave Ryka is the Enlight II, which has been discontinued but is available at a great price from seller WalkingSue on eBay. She provides fantastic customer service. This shoe is ultra comfy, provides great lateral support, forefoot support and has a snug fit on my foot. It's just terrific. Cathe likes this shoe a lot, too. I just ordered another pair from Sue which I'm gonna hide in my closet. When I can't get the Enlight II anymore I am gonna be one sad puppy! ;-)

I just found the Ryka Enlight II on www.sierratradingpost.com for $34.95!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! They're suppose to be delivered Wednesday...can't wait!!!

I agree with you Kathy S. about the N-Gage shoes. Very wide toe box for me too and my feet aren't that narrow! I kept them but never cared too much for them.

If I really like the Enlight II I believe for $34.95 I'll buy several. It's hard to find a cross-trainer that's comfy and with alot of support.

Angela...I have a wide foot and have loved the Ryka N-Gage Trainers, I am on my 3rd pair and wear them for all indoor cardio and weight workouts...I did go up a half size....:)
