HELP! What does this mean???

Hi all,

Hubby and I are trying to get pregnant. (I have 2 girls from a previous marriage, he has 2 boys and we have none together) My husband went through a vascetomy reversal which worked and I ovulate every month, running a 28 day cycle.

Well we decided to try the ovulation predictor kit to test when I was ovulating. (I'm 35, he's 36 and we had been trying for a year unsuccessfully) I started the strips on day 11 of my cycle as instructed and finally this past Tuesday--BINGO, got the 2 lines I was looking for. Well just to be sure hubby and I "prepared" 2 days before & that same day.

Now, here is my question: I ovulated on Tuesday and yesterday, Thursday night, I get a spot of blood??? HUH? My period isn't due for another 10 days. I'm baffled. I had been having twinges of "pain" in my lower abdomen for 2 days as well. I can't imagine ovulating and then starting a period--does any of this make sense? Has anyone experienced anything like this? I only had that little spot (about the size of a dime) in my panties and didn't do anything more overnight. (however did notice some minor bleeding on my tissue this morning but nothing that went into the toilet---hope this isn't too much information, LOL) Plus my pains are practically gone this morning.

I love coming here and reading through the forum and since I'm actively trying to get pregnant, thought I'd run this by you all, the educated crowd!!

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

2 possible ideas....1. someimes when a women ovulates, there can be a tad of blood.......2. when there is implantation of the zygote in the uterus, but i thought implantation took longer than the amount of time you describe!!?? just a thought?!

Denise,
First of all most opk test strips you have to get at test where the second line is as dark or darker than the control line to be an indicator of ovulation not just a second line. But you may have already known that. Here is a funky but helpful website for more info on that:

http://www.peeonastick.com/opkfaq.html

I would have to say unless you did ovulate very early in your cyle that it is not an implantation bleeding. Implantation takes usually between 6-10 days AFTER ovulation. But can be as early as 3 days after ovulation. The pains you are having are they on one side? Usually true ovulation pains are on the side that the ovary released an egg. But not everyone gets ovulation pains, and it isn't an exact science as far as ovulation predication. The blood could just be break through bleeding (bleeding that isn't from your AF). I wouldn't worry about that.
If you are serious about ttc, I would highly recommend you chart your tempertures. If you have fertility problems an RE doctor will have you temp to see if and when you are actually ovulating. For more info and to chart for free see: www.fertilityfriend.com
Also they have some helpful info as well as message boards (see- circles). But if you check out the message boards realize that many of these women have fertility problems and some are just impatient (I'm ttc too and definately fall into that impatient category!). I can't read those circles to often or I get all freaked out that there is something wrong with me! But the info I have learned is so much! Also charting is more exact and easier to read than opk tests not to mention CHEAPER! Also while charting temps you should chart your cervical mucus. I know it sounds gross but it is the major indicator if you/when you are ovulating. Fertility Friend should list everything for you that you can chart and how/why. If you have any other questions please ask away. I've been at this for months now, and find charting very helpful.

GOOD LUCK!

Can't help you with your question but can tell you that my husband had a vasectomy reversal too and it took 10 months for me to get pregnant (he was 38 and I was 36.) Just keep trying, I know it is frustrating but it will happen. Good luck.

Denise, I hope yu check in and let us know what your results are!!!!! I'm hoping for hte best!!!

Those vasectomy reversals are amazing! My dad had one (keep in mind this was the 1960s :). I am actually the product of advanced reproductive technology.... my mom was artificially inseminated. Ok, enough about me. ;) It just amazes me what can be done.

Good luck Denise!

That is GREAT news!! My period is due tomorrow and I'm not having any symptoms. I'm not going to get my hopes up though (so I'm not too upset). We have been taking the Fertility Blend vitamins that are supposed to help support a pregnancy so we'll see.

I just don't understand how I'd ovulate and then two days later spot for almost a day and then nothing since then?? Doesn't make sense but who knows.

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I'll keep you posted (if I get any good news!!).

God Bless!!!

Well my period was due yesterday and nothing. But later in the mid afternoon I spotted once on my tissue and then nothing, not even after honey & I, well you know.

Maybe my hormones are all screwed up. Thanks for all your help/guidance and HOPEFULLY I'll be able to be an "official" member of this group soon!!

That sounds like implantation bleeding. Very common. I would test.
I have had that w/all of my pregnancies.
Best of luck.

Lynne, I was thinking the same thing. It could be implantation bleeding... I would test too, but then again I start testing as soon as I know implantation could have taken place. :)

Good luck! Let us know!
