help me pick a new DVD

I did cardio and weights on fit tv today- no sooner than I had finished the warmup did i decide i had to buy it. And, wondered how i lived so long without it. I like the fact IMAX2 comes with- it sounds like that's popular. So, I may as well buy another. What else should I buy?

I was considering ab hits, coremax, and gym style legs. I am looking for lower or ab strength, but will be willing to consider circuit cardio. However, I DO NOT like hi/lo or kickboxing. As if I'm not picky enough, i would like something that won't kill me since this will be a prenatal/postnatal thing for a while. And finally, anything with a 20-30 minute premix is great for me.

Here is what I own (starting from the early days): Mega Step Blast, Step Max, Step Heat, POwer Max, Step Jam, Step WOrks, MIS (although I never do this anymore), IMAX 1, BodyMax, CTX series, low max, basic step/body fusion.

thanks! Kristan, due 11-1-05 with #3

So your considering GS legs, Ab Hits & Coremax? I say buy em all. LOL I own all three of those. If I were you I would buy them in this order:

GS Legs
Ab Hits
Core Max

GS Legs has 2 timesaver premixes which I find are great for pregnancy. Sometimes I just don't have the energy to do the entire workout. Last night I did the 33 min premix.

Ab Hits I still use. I just use the stability ball or but my step at an incline and use that.

CoreMax - I only did the first segment of this one. I think I'll be using this one a lot postnatal.

MusleMax has some nice premixes. I believe there is a 24 minute lower body segment???? As well as some 30 minute-ish premixes.

Lately I've been using the PushPull/Supersets DVD - PP is 44 minutes and SS is 55 min - I feel like these work well for pregnancy b/c they're not that tough.

I see that you own Low Max - I love doing that one as well.

Decisions, decisions . . .

Hi Kristan,

I agree with Dana about the PP/SS dvd (and thanks Dana, for some good ideas about lower body workouts that I think I'll try!).

I'd also suggest the Timesaver DVD. It has a great lower body workout on it, as well as all the core work from Body Blast Series, and an upper body workout as well. The core work and upper body work are spread out, as they are with the CTX series, but you can use mix'nmatch to do them altogether. The Timesaver also has the three step combos on it from Step Blast, as well as the step portion of Step, Jump & Pump. And the level of the workouts, IMO, is intermediate. Great for pregnancy and postpartum.

Cheers,
Sandra

Which workouts are you doing on Ab Hits? I'm a little scared to do ab worksouts, due to some discomfort of my muscles expanding. I want to use my Ab Hit's but didn't know which ones were still ok for pregnancy.

Julie, I like to do the MIS one. I'm not sure how effective some of the exercises are b/c I do everything on an incline but its better then not doing anything at all. I don't do the reverse crunches b/c I have no clue how I would modify them.

thanks for your suggestions- here's what I ordered:

C&W/Imax 2, Timesaver (thank you for this suggestion; I know it's no CTX, but since I don't have anything from the Bodyblast series, i think it will be perfect), and CoreMax (Upon review of ab hits, I saw i have about 1/2 of the content already. i like the fact coremax uses a ball in 2 of the workouts, which i think will encourage me to keep up with what's left of my 'abs.')

Thanks again.
