Heart Rate or Calories Burned

My question for today. If you are doing a workout and say you get to a point where you have to get your air and can't do the full set but continue when you are able Does this hurt your calories burned or Target Heart Rate. Is it ok to bring the heart rate back down and continue on with the workout when you have your breath back?

The reason I ask is because when I worked out to fit TV you have commercials well her DVD's do not and Kickmax was tough so I found I would slow it down and pick back up where I could. Is this ok?

Thank You

Beth...

It is okay to workout like this...that is pretty much what the "interval" concept is about. When doing intervals, you go beyond the point of comfort with your heart rate and then you slow down to recover and repeat the process.

It's always best to pause, rest, slowdown, or even stop when you feel the you need to. Eventually you'll find that you will be able to go longer and longer.

So keep doing what you're doing, you are on the right track!

Take care,
