Healthy Hedonists 1/27 - wake up!!

Hi Kel, Leslie, Robin, Christine and everyone else!

I went alcohol-free yesterday evening and feel like a million bucks this morning! So alert (could be the coffee:7 ). And I took a break from the traditional working out and worked on clearing and burning a piece of property I just bought. It wasn't too aerobic, but that hot bath sure felt good afterwards! I often feel like I get the ante ramped way up with harder and harder workouts, which either increase my appetite or make me think it needs to be increased. And it makes me mentally justify alcohol since I've worked so hard. Silly me - it's really just a work harder to counteract the play harder! I really need to ratchet it down.

What are you thoughts on this new twister? I LOVE hearing what you guys say.:p

Good morning you HH's (or is it afternoon?) Hope you are all doing well out there in cyberland! I went to Buffalo Wild Wings last night and had a couple of beers with my wings...It was great! I had celery, so that must counteract all the bad, right?! I am planning on working out later this afternoon....I had an early morning phone call today..6 am if you can believe that! And I never really got back to sleep, so I will be napping in a few minutes!

Charlotte...What kind of property did you buy? What are you planning on doing with it? Very exciting!

Hope you are all enjoying a fun and mostly healthy weekend!

Debra

Quick check in before I head out to my favorite fish house for dinner. My mom is watching the kids tonight. DH is leaving for a trip to Japan next week so we wanted to get in some quality time. He's bummed he's going to miss the Superbowl, he'll actually be working while we watch the game because Japan is a day ahead. What is everyone's plans for the big game? I'm going to loan me and the kids out to whoever wants to take us in for the evening. Usually we throw the party but that ain't happening this year!

Charlotte, I like to save my intense workouts for after dinner. It accomplishes two things. 1. I avoid the temptation of a glass of wine with dinner and 2. I sleep better. Intense workouts in the morning don't rev me up, instead they make me drag my feet all day! However, I will agree that they rev up my metabolism and make me want to nosh all day.

No workouts for me today. I did a lot of hi-impact this week so I want to give my joints a break. Tomorrow I'll do something hard, maybe Drill Max. I haven't tried that one yet.

Debra, enjoy your nap! Have a great evening everyone. I won't be checking in tomorrow. Too much to do!

Hey there all you Healthy Hedonists!

I had pizza last night *glances around guiltily* Shhh, don't tell anyone! Actually, we have a pizza place here that has a very flat crust pizza with light toppings. I know it's still not very healthy, but it sure is good! Today I hit the gym then had a nice grilled chicken breast sandwich. It was good. I'm going to make chiptole chicken chili for dinner tonight. Of course, it'll go fabulously with a glass of wine. So, I'll have one. :p

Charlotte - I always feel better in the AM when I don't drink. Problem is I don't feel better in the PM! Sounds like you got in a great workout today, even though it wasn't specifically a workout.

Debra - enjoy your nap! Sounds like you had a great night last night!

Leslie - Sorry to hear about your DH not seeing the Super Bowl. Mine is heading out to Australia on the 10th, so I know what you mean about a day ahead (actually, he'll be a day ahead and five hours behind - it gets confusing. LOL. Enjoy your evening! That fish house sounds fabulous and nice and healthy! Unfortunately, there is no way I could workout after dinner. I'm dead to the world. I'm such a morning person it's not funny. I sometimes wish I wasn't because working out after dinner would be a very good thing.

Hey everyone:

I have to tell you about a great thing to try for dinner: if you have Vegan Planet, make the recipe for orange roasted beets and shallots, then let it cool a little and toss a bag of baby spinach leaves with the cooking juice then toss in the beets and shallots. Add walnuts and endamames and YUM! Just had it for dinner after doing Butts and Guts. Woo wee.x( Grilled sweet potato slices on the grill at lunch and made a sandwich with them and half an avacado and the coconut sauce from Vegan Planet's red bean cakes recipe. More yum.

Rest up! Must do heavy chainsaw action tomorrow!
P.S. Christine - I LOVE your remark on how you feel better in the A.M. when you don't have some wine but that you feel worse in the P.M.!! LOL! LMAO!!

Yum! That sounds good Charlotte.

I didn't get a workout done today. I still have my cold and my throat is raw. We had comfort food for dinner - tomato soup and cheese quesidillas. I got the movie My Mother's Castle out of the library and sipped a nice glass of red while watching it and dreaming of going to southern France someday. Oh the food and wine - oh la la.

You guys are married to some traveling guys! Japan and Australia. Wow. Superbowl weekend is when we are planning on our rescheduled trip to the Finger Lakes, but we'll be home in time for the game on Sunday. Christine, I loved that link you posted about finding the right team to cheer for. My DH and DD enjoyed it too.

I'm headed for bed now with a new book. It's called The United States of Arugula or How We Became a Gourmet Nation. It sounds fascinating. Do you all realize when we were kids (at least when this old lady was a kid) no one had ever heard of salsa or sushi.LOL. Now they're common place in the grocery store.

Goodnight all. Sweet dreams.
