Hi everyone!

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing. I'm doing okay with eating- not great, but not terrible.

Hi There,
A couple of nights ago I really got to thinking about my eating.I have been just terrible this summer.I don't know how I manage to maintain my weight I should be gaining.I have been skipping my workouts more then normal to.Summer is just so hard b/c I really like fruity drinks (slush:9 ) and my sister is home, and she is picking up things to eat that she can't get where she lives.
Anyway, yesterday went well. And I am hoping for today to be just as good.I went for a morning run and I think it wiped me already.I had coffee sitting in my belly while I was running and it felt like it was burning a hole in my stomach.
Thats about it for me.I am going into the city this weekend though.....so I may have to make a trip to DQ!
Lori:)

Hi Gina....how are you? How is Mikey doing??? I just got back from a weekend in Sante Fe with some High School friends. We had a GREAT time! I hadn't seen them in 7 years. And I have to say eating in Sante Fe was awesome. Anywhere we ate had a vegetarian dish. Although I hadn't been eating any milk products I did have some goat cheese...that stuff is good. I prefer being vegan but I knew this weekend would be a bit hard. So lacto vegetarian worked well. But we did so much walking and I ran a few times and even lost 2 lbs....very bizarre. Thanks for starting this thread...:)...Carole

Hi Lori!

Wow a slush sounds yummy lol! I haven't had one of hose in ages! Hopefully, when the fall comes, you'll be back on track. If you are maintaining your weight, you are probably not splurging as much as you may think you are. What is "the city" for you? When people around here say they are going to the city, it's NYC. Well, whichever city you go to, enjoy the DQ- you'll probably do enough walking to burn it off!

Good to hear from you.

Hi Carole!

I'm doing pretty well. I'm counting the days until my sister leaves for college- 21 to go. It's a horrible thing to say, but my parents are looking forward to her going away, too. She is such a troublemaker at home and always getting herself into messes when she goes out. We are hoping that going away will force her to mature bit. It will be so much more peaceful here!!!

Mikey is doing so much better, thank goodness. His weird symptoms are almost totally gone. My parents said they've seen him stare at the floor a few times, but he also did that in the yard when he was looking at a bug, so I'm not worried.

Since I do better when I have actual goals, I decided to make some last night. As far as eating, I'm going to commit to 5 or 6 small meals and at least 10 cups of water per day. For exercise, I want to focus on endurance, because I feel like I have none. I'm going to try to do 2 Power Hour or similar workouts each week and cardio at least 4 times per week, even if it's just in small amounts.

Sante Fe must be beautiful! It must have been cool to see your high school friends after such a long time! Was it just the girls? I'm so glad you stuck to vegetarianism. Cheese is definitely a weakness for me :9 I don't think it's bizarre at all that you lost 2lbs- way to go! When I went to Las Vegas a few years ago, I totally expected to gain weight because I didn't have time for or access to workout stuff. (I was babysitting for a family.) When I got home, though, I lost 4lbs, and I'm sure that was because of all the walking! I guess yo don't realize how much you are doing when you are admiring scenery!

Off to do Power Hour..

Have a good day.

Oh- I just finished an awesome book: The Food Revolution: How Your Diet Can Help Save Your Life and the World by John Robbins. It's not a diet book at all. It's basically about how vegetarianism/veganism are good for the environment and the body. There is tons of research on things like genetic engineering, growth hormones, factory farms, etc. It was a very easy read, though. Just thought you might enjoy it!

Gina I am glad Mikey is better...:)...I have 3 older sisters myself. I have always thought the oldest was somebody elses, as she was our troublemaker! But as the youngest I know they didn't like me much growing up...yes...spoiled...:)

Thanks for the book tip. I went to Barnes & Noble and ordered it!! I bought 2 cookbooks in Sante Fe. Mediteranean Vegan and Southwest vegetarian. Some great recipes!! It was a beautiful city and yes just the girls. It was so fun visiting with them. We plan on doing something once a year now. Cheese was a weakness for me a long time ago but I can do without it now. I just didn't want to be THAT picky in Sante Fe but I was so happy I could eat like a vegetarian there. I know the weight loss was probably do also to alot of walking that we did in Sante Fe. We also went to an Opera an another Musical. A little culture for my mind...:)...Carole
