Hello People.

Ate like a pig last night. Did someone say sweet? Ok, count me in. Shovel it into my mouth. Anything with sugar and i'll eat it. Not a good day. :(

Still, another day today.

P90X finally came. Sigh...very good too!

Wayne.

Hi everyone,

4:15am rode the bike for 25 minutes (mountain program) then did abs from Cathe's ab tape.

B - scrambled eggs with asparagus and a little cheese

s - hard boiled egg, cheese stick

L - salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, hard boiled eggs, crab, lite dressing)

s - walnuts

D - ? not sure yet, maybe another salad or something simple

Laurie to answer your question regarding red meat - we eat it about 2-3 times a week. We are meat people. I really don't see anything wrong with it, we usually get the lean pieces and we get it fresh from the butcher shop.

OK Today I am going to join you on this thread so I am hoping it will help motivate me to control my eating. (The other day I was too ashamed to start posting:-(

Anyway, Today I did Pure Strength - Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. Then I did HSC Abs and part of ME abs then I ran out of time.

For breakfast I had bran shredded wheat with skim milk and one packet of splenda.
For a snack - chocolate soy milk (helps with my chocolate cravings)
Lunch - Salad w/ lite ranch
Snack - raspberry yogurt
Dinner - We'll probably go out for dinner so I really need to watch it there!

My favorite snack - Root Beer Float w/diet root beer and 1/2 cup of lite ice cream :9 Just thought I'd share!

Have a great day!

Good Morning All!! I am really finding that this check in is helping and motivating me to be more accountable for what goes in my mouth, thanks for starting this Wayne!!:)

Socialized last night after my class and enjoyed some red pepper hummus and stilton cheese pate on french bread with 2 glasses of red wine. Perhaps not 'healthy' but certainly good for the soul!

Br - (SURPRISE!:p) banana, muffin and black coffee w/ 1 sugar.

I'm off to clinic now and then to Costco to pick up a few things, hopefully there will be no free samples. I'll decide on lunch and dinner later.

Take Care
Laurie:)

Rhonda--I completely agree w/you, there's nothing wrong w/meat, red or otherwise. In fact, women really need the iron from red meat & I know anemia among our gender has increase during the last 20-30 years b/c people stopped eating it.

Anyway, here's my schedule:

Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs, as usual
Lunch: sub in a tub
Dinner: I'm splurging tonight & having pizza

Back & biceps at the gym after work. Usually abs too but I have to shorten it since I'm having company tonight. Plus I overindulged last night at our police department's awards dinner (man those guys know how to party!) & I'm feeling a little weak & tired. :p

Hi Wayne!! Hurray for P90X!!!! Do you plan on doing the Classic rotation? It's going to kick your butt! I LOVE Plyo X. I'm already finished w/P90X & now back to Cathe. I found I just could not get into Kenpo X as well as Yoga X. I substituted KPC/CIA instructor Terri Reeves & Rodney Yee for yoga. Onto a Cathe rotation now. Today's my REST day (yipee I made it through what seemed like a grueling week).

Today's meals are:

Meal 1: 1/3 c McCann's steel cut oatmeal w/1 scoop of protein powder & french vanilla coffee
Meal 2: mini oat bran bagel w/cream cheese & green tea
Meal 3: soy noodle mushroom & ginger soup w/4 oz. chicken & banana
Meal 4: medium salad w/salmon & small pear
Meal 5: family is having disgusting PIZZA so MUST NOT BE TEMPTED (have to keep saying this over & over). I'll be having salmon/brown rice & veggies

Have a great weekend everyone! Kathy

it's mid afternoon now, this rarely happens but I am not working out today, taught 2 classes at the gym yesterday and have 2 tomorrow so I'm listening to my body (although we're barely on speaking terms today;-))

mid a.m. snack, kiwi and piece of cheddar cheese

lunch - 2 scrambled eggs, breakfast meusli flat bread, 1/2 tomato, peach yogurt and 1 chocolate topped butter cookie - bl.coffee w/sugar.

supper - I've got potato/cauliflower curry soup simmering on stove now for after work. I'll probably have some chicken and salad with it. I always like a sweet after a meal, raspberry newton perhaps...

Here comes the weekend, discipline weakens on days that begin with 'S' but I'm looking forward to a kickbutt cardio session Sunday, did somebody say MIC!!!}(

I thought I'd have my new DVD's today and try some Terminator but so far no delivery truck in the drivewayx( , maybe when I get home.

Have a great weekend ALL!!!!

Take Care

Hi everyone....Wayne congrats on P90X!!!!!! That is so great you finally got it. Being a vegetarian I disagree that red meat is "good" for you. Of course I never ate it much before I became a vegetarian...:)..in the more I have read as far as the U.S. goes, the demands on the Factory Farms to produce more and more meat in the last 5-10 years, and the injecting of antibiotics and growth hormones, I am not sure I would ever eat meat again unless it was homegrown! Just my opinion...

Had a party at work so I ate a few bad things!

Half a balance bar and coffee before my workout
B: Protein smoothie
L: vegey chili, brocolli salad, chips & artichoke dip, pistachio pudding dessert

so I need a healthy dinner....

D: Tofu stirfry, and a big salad.
Dessert: another smoothie focusing on fruit.

Hey Carole, I agree with everything you say and feel fortunate to have a close connection with a few small and extremely consciencious farmers, I am a firm believer of 'caveat emptor'. We go weeks without meat sometimes and it has become an annual tradition in our home to give it up entirely for lent. We ate vegetarian for almost a year at one point and reluctantly incorporated it back into our diet when a family member was ill and severely anemic (post chemotherapy). I don't feel guily per se about eating meat but respect and admire those who have been able to stick with this challenging lifestyle change. Documentaries like 'FAT' and 'SuperSize Me' are great reflections of society's over consumption of meat and collective lack of awareness of exactly how that slab of meat ends up on their plate. I want to take as good (or better) care of the inside of my body as I do the outside and feel that consuming responsibly is key to that end. I guess I have no real point to make, but I tend to like sitting on the fence looking at both sides:) Congrats on so successfully making this huge lifestyle change!! Maybe someday.........

Thanks Laurie...I have no problem with people eating meat and they shouldn't feel guilty, I just don't want it in my diet after all I have read. I did track what I ate the first 3 weeks of vegetarian eating on Fitday.com just to see if I had any deficiencies...there were none. I also can understand anemic people having the need for iron, which makes sense. Going vegetarian was not real easy, but with my DH being right there with me made it easier. I was completely shocked about him...and I never ever thought I would consider this lifestyle but as they say "Timing is everything" . Although DH is a deer hunter...:)....I do appreciate your post....:)...Carole
