Having so much fun...and feeling so gross!

Due to a grain intolerance I've been on a strict diet for years. I read every label, drilled the cooks in every restaurant. In Nov. a friend talked me into seeing an amazing naturopath who put me on a few things. I've found as time goes on I can eat some grains w/o getting sick. They used to trigger an immediate migraine (with more trouble to follow!) To begin with I was very cautious...then when I discovered I wasn't getting sick I've really gone over the deep end. My family and friends haven't helped - I've been out every night this week eating...eating...eating! Things I thought I'd never be able to touch again in my life - brownies, oreo balls (!Who from this board is responsible for that?!), toast, breaded chicken, croutons, tarts, pasta etc. etc. What a blast I've been having!!! I feel like my life sentence has been lifted! We've really been celebrating this new lease on life...But, after a week of indulging, OH BABY...I feel SO GROSS! UGHHH! Like a slug! This has been way too much fun but the madness has got to end. I'm not even sure I know what healthy eating is anymore...the menu of my life has been very restricted and now it seems the door is thrown open wide. How do I include these things back in (I'm referring to bread and pasta - not oreo balls!) and still eat healthy? What an adventure 2005 will be!

Trish
(BTW - 2 new Cathe vids arrived yesterday but I can't do them because my ds and friends crashed in my basement last night!!! Do you think I should get them all up for a step class??!!!}( )

Danielle is responsible for our Oreo madness! THANKS ALOT DANI!!!;-) Trish, just take it a day at a time and start to put those healthy habits back into your daily routine. I, too, struggle with the "clean-eating" part of my day. I could exercise til the cows come home. Maybe with the New Year, we need to focus on what is going to make us healthy and strong and get us ready for the Hardcore which will be in our mitts possibly in January!! Woo-Hooo! Don't beat yourself up. A goodie every now & then is okay, just don't make it a frequent habit. Let's do this together and our body will thank us in 2005! Good Luck!

Debbie~ you make a good point. Many of us here on these boards have the exercise habit secured, but the clean eating habit is not as well established in our routines. (At least for me)

Personally, I do much better when I meal plan at the beginning of the week and shop for the right ingreedients to cook/eat healthy. That being said, I hesitate to become too obsessive because it becomes unrealistic. Soooo, for me it is meal planning on Sunday each week for dinners and having healthy choices on hand for breakfasts and lunches and snacks, including lots of fruits, whole grains etc....bon apetite! Good luck Trish and Debbie
;-) ;-)

PS DebbieH did you see the post w/ your name?

Judy!

Yes, just replied to you. It should be right below this thread! :7 Thanks, you are a sweetie! Your point of "planning it ahead of time" is excellent Judy. I agree...plus buying ONLY healthy things to have in the house takes away the possiblity of grabbing junk. (At least at home!) Good Luck to us ALL in 2005! We are in this together.

Okay Trish, just because the door is wide open does not mean you have to dive in head first! Unless you want to get too big to get through the door!! Just kidding.

Maybe there are some books that can help you with healthy eating. Not a diet book but one for basic nutrition.

Breads and pasta (carbs) are not the bad guys. The eating strategy I follow is : A little bit of everything is okay. It's a whole lot of everthing that gets you in trouble!! In other words, portion control is very important!

LOL and enjoy your new eating and new workouts!!!! I vote Yes! Give those boys a step class!! They will probably leave your house running and screaming once Cathe gets a hold of them!!!!
