Have you heard about this?

Last night I went to a "party" where I did some power cooking. It was so much fun! We had wine and a small salad and then put together 9 complete meals. They are all freezer ready and complete with everything you need for the meal. When I need them, I will put them in the fridge the day before and then they will cook for 30 minutes and a real dinner will be on the table!!

I made Honey Glazed Salmon, Pork chops and risotto, Turkey tetrazzini, and more. It was a fun night out and I came home with 9 meals for my family!

Everything was all set out on tables and we just bagged up each meal one by one. It was about a 2 hour experience.

Does anyone else have this in their area or have you tried this?

Er.. yes, it's been going on for years. I've never heard it called power cooking though. I guess the title is a new thing?

I'm glad you liked it. I used to do that sort of thing a lot and sometimes we would have days where a few of us would get together in one of our kitchens and cook together. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot from each other. Of course the food was great too :)

We have this in our area. I did it one month and got a whole month of meals. I decided not to do it again, though, because I didn't find the food any better than what I cook myself. It was more expensive than grocery shopping for my own stuff and it didn't really save me any time or clean-up.

I've seen this advertised in my area and have wanted to try it. The menu choices sound delicious. However, my kids are sooo picky and I just can't see them embracing some of the meals as much as I would. I'm afraid so much of it would go to waste. But maybe if I brought them with me to help prepare the meals.....hmmmmmmmm........

I just realized I called you Kim. I got early exerciser and exercise forever confused. I'm blaming this and everything else on my poor caffeine-depleted brain.

This is the first time I've heard about this. It sounds good. How much more expensive is it than grocery shopping? I'm picky about grocery items -- I want things that have a 5-10 minute prep time. That's it. I can't spend too much time in the kitchen as there is a little boy who needs constant attention. But the dishes sound really good.:9

I am a horrible shopper, so I spend way too much and only end up with one or two meals. In late May I spent $200 and had only bought ONE actual meal!! (plus eggs, milk, bread, lunchmeat, etc.)

This power cooking experience that I had was $150. To me it was very much worth it, but to someone else (a better planner/shopper!), it may not add up.

$150 for 9 meals isn't bad, at least not in my household. Thanks for posting this. I'll keep an eye for it in my area. My boys like to eat out a lot, and it's okay -- I've learned how to pick "better" restaurant food. But this is great.:)

My daughterjust did this. She had a lot of fun and had a huge ice chest full of meals for her family. It cost her $179. The meals she prepared fed 5 and was all high quality ingredients. She said you could choose what you prepared as I am picky as to what I would want.
