Have you ever weighed you weights?

I just did and am a bit suprised. Ok, maybe not since I bought those cheap hex dumbells from Wallyworld. But still. I used my Escali postage type scale I use to weigh food portions. Here is what I found for anyone curious:

5 lb = 5 lb 3 oz & 5 lb 2.5 oz
8 lb = 8 lb 2 oz & 8 lb .5 oz
10 lb = 10 lb 1 oz & 10 lb 3 oz
15 lb = 15 lb 4 oz & 15 lb 4 oz
20 lb = 20 lb 7.5 oz & 20 lb 1.5 oz - Huh
25 lb = 25 lb 2 oz

(I have 2 of each weight dumbell except for the 25)

And most suprising of all is that one of my 10 Paceweights is 8.5 oz.

Course I have. I do those type of things. :)
Can't remember how they fared regarding their supposed weights, but I was really trying to get a handle on how accurate my scale was, not the other way around.

On another bizarre note....I've also tried figuring out how much my breasts weight. That was when I was overweight and was trying to make myself my feel better, telling myself that I wasn't THAT MUCH overweight, because my large chest takes up a good amount of mass.

I still wonder how much they weigh...although I'm down 90 lbs, they are still large and I wonder if that's one of the reasons that push-ups are so darn difficult for me. :p

Yup, mine seem pretty accurate. Also try this trick if your stuck in an "I'm fat not losing any more weight rut"

Say you've lost 15 lbs over all. Step on the scale, see what it says. Get off the scale. Pick up 15 lbs of weight. Get back on. Look at the new, bigger number. Get off. Get back on without the weights. Look at the smaller number. Feel accomplished. Realize how far you've come. Give yourself a pat on the back. Repeat as necessary.

Yup and I knew what I would find before I did it. I had 2 20# dumbells but one weighed 20 and 1 weighed 18.5! I got another one that weighs 20. Turns out that I use the 18.5 quite often when I'm doing a pyramid weight workout so I guess it 'worked out' in the end (pun intended :7).

When I bought my barbell set it was suppose to be a 100lbs total with the bar weighing 25lbs few 2.5 few 5's and some 10's. Anyway when cathe was doing the barbell rows with 40lbs and I was able to match it with no problem I was like wow! Then one day I was carring my 2 yr old and was like man she's heavy remembering that she weighs 35lbs I said to my-self jeez she feels HEAVY. Thats when I weigh my 25lb bar and the scale said 13 Boy I was dissappointed. Here I am thinking I am finally gaining some strength NOT!!!

LOL. This is funny, but really true. Every time I pick up one of my 20# dumbbells during the plie squats for 4DS, I keep thinking, this is how much I used to weigh. And when I put it down, I think, and now I'm light again. LOL.

I'm not surprised by the weight differences. Every time I go to the gym, I notice that the 20 lb. dumbbells weigh less than the 20 lb. dumbbells I have at home.

I don't have a scale at home. I have often thought one of my 15lb dumb bells seems a bit lighter! Drats!x(

I purchased an used 20lber at Play It Again Sports not this December but past December. I purchased another 20lber at Walmart. I swanee, it feels like the newer one from Walmart is heavier. Perhaps I need to weigh these. Hmmm, that is interesting!
