Have you ever run for political office?

Anyone ever run for office? If so, what was the spot, how did you manage your campaign, how much money did it take you to run (I know that's relative based on the size of the electorate and area), and did you win? If so, how long is/was your term, and would you do it again?

I currently work for a local elected official (county level). When she ran in 2004 she raised the most money ever for that seat (over $100,000). She is getting ready to mount her next re-election campaign for 2010 and I'm sure she will again break local records and top what was collected by the local candidates this past November.

I have never run for office but I've been asked by a few to consider a city council position. Although I have toyed with the idea, my hubby says "no way". The elected officials get pretty beat up here in the news papers, online forums, as well as during public hearings. You've really got to have the skin for it (public office).

Are you considering a run?

In a town of about 17,000 in NJ for a four year term, it costs approximately $5000. Sometimes more & sometimes less, depending on if it's an incumbent and/or if there are viable opposition candidates.

Edit: our elections are in off years and nonpartisan. In an even-year, partisan election probably a candidate would recieve assistance from her/his respective party.

Does getting into a bit of a word war last night at the school board meeting count???

They are gutless wonders to say the least . . . .
