Morning!

LOVE!

LOVE!

(I tried to make those colored and big, but I couldn't.....)

I decided today that I would watch the Kettlebell Way workout and sort of watch it and go through the general moves without the bell to see how things went.

I put in the DVD and started to watch, but the first thing was Swings and they just looked so dang fun that I decided to just do that one exercise with the KB.

It was soo fun!
3120.gif

So fun, in fact, that I ended up doing the entire workout with the KB, subbing a dumbbell for things that had overhead presses, because I simply can't press 8 kg (17.6 pds) successively with one arm.

One great thing about the 8kg KB is that it makes my 5kg dumbbell feel lightweight! LOL. I was surprised that I was able to use the 8kg without much trouble, even for the squats.

I LOVE THIS WORKOUT. I love the people in it. I love taking one minute breaks LMAO. I did squats and lunges, you guys. Me! I HATE squats and lunges! I was huffing and puffing and SWEATING. ME. SWEATING! I hardly ever sweat! And it wasn't that "It's so hot I'm sweating ewww" sweat. It was that "burning fat now and sweat is trickling down the backs of my legs" sweat.

I was so into it that I was about ready to....puke.
gigglesmile.gif
Really. It was all going so great and then at the very end (luckily...?) I started to feel like I could upchuck. But it was quick passing and I was able to finish the workout and feel great.

Now that I'm finished with my smoothie, I'm ready for a massive nap.

One sort of bummer with the workout is that there is no cool down or post-stretch. They just do the last exercise and then without a goodbye or anything, it's just finished. So I did a little stretch on my own.

Did I mention I love this DVD?

Oh man, I'm serious, I need to nap NOW.

ROBIN - I'm so sorry to have made you excited to see Da Bird LOL. I haven't seen any birds lately, probably because the birds know that if they fly around that they'll melt in the humidity and heat that is melting us in Tokyo now. Nevertheless, I put out seed on my balcony. It's not directly in the sun, but will the seeds be okay? I wouldn't want to give anybirdy a tummy ache.

>Our new target opened yesterday and DD and I went for a look-see. I looked at the kettlebells.

MUWAHHAAAA! You should get one. They're small and don't take up room like a set of dumbbells. Or a barbell. Or a Fitness Ball. Or a Step. Achem.

Anyway, we're looking forward to hearing about your weekend. I'd wish you a fantastic time, but you're gone already!

>I'm not sure if any of you read any of the threads I've posted in, but our micro lab identified a fairly dangerous bacteria. It is highly infectious to lab workers, so we all have to take a three week long multiple antibiotic regime. Pretty scary, but pretty exciting for a microbiologist.

Yikes! And cool! That must really be fascinating. Sounds like a movie.

JENNIFER - I must be having another of those moments, but for the life of me, I cannot find your family's video. The link doesn't take me to any page in particular and when I do a search, hundreds of things come up.

Are you enjoying your weekend? How is the manure? How are the flowers? How are Madrid and Seville?

MICHELE - You wrote such a wonderful post to Jennifer about the gift-giving.

>I'm awfully glad you weren't hurt during the earthquake, and that you didn't have to evacuate, what with your being naked and all . Do you get dressed when those hit -- I mean -- just in case you have to evacuate?

When they hit, I'll sit up in bed and look around for a minute and think, "Do I need to get my bra?" but then I'm usually frozen there until the quake stops, and then I go and turn the TV on.

You know, I read a really interesting thing about earthquakes that I thought I would pass on to you guys, in case you're faced with one.

You know how you're always taught to go under a big table or go under the bed or go under the threshold? That is apparently the WORST places to go. The REAL place you should be going is directly to the SIDE of big objects.

If you are in an earthquake, you should lay down to the SIDE of the sofa. Or to the SIDE of your bed. These big furniture objects will create a safe pocket for when other things come crashing down. If you are under the bed and things crash down, you will be crushed under the bed. If you are at the side of the bed, the bed will be crushed and you'll be in an air pocket. Makes a lot more sense than what we've always been taught. This is advice coming from an earthquake rescue expert.

Okay, lecture is done.

How are you DOMS? I'm kind of...well, okay very scared how things will be for me tomorrow morning.

Did I mention that I LOVE the Kettlebell Way? Are you going to be looking into getting other KB workouts? Not...not that I'm going to...................Unless you do, that is.

SHANNON - Thanks for the well wishes on the earthquake.

>And I get a kick out of how calmly you take all these earthquakes.

Yeah, it's so normal to have them. Apparently there is supposed to be a humongo one in Tokyo sometime in the next 30 years. I don't mind the actual earthquakes from time to time, but I do mind knowing that "within 30 years" info!! Sheesh, every little tremble and I've gotta think, "Is THIS the ONE? Do I need to get my bra?"

>Have fun with those kettlebells! No matter how much I hear people rave about them, I still haven't been tempted. Can you believe that?

You're missing out, woman! Actually though, this is sort of a cardio-haters dream cardio, so maybe that's why it hasn't caught on to your fancy. But like Michele said, there was no stress on the shoulder (though I did sub the overheads with a dumbbell that was a lighter weight than my KB). If anything, I felt it's sort of a good stretch for the shoulder.

>Oh, and that's not my horse. I was up in Canada visiting Shelley.

How fun! And oh yeah, now that you mention it, I see that there's a buggy attached to that horse, which would be kind of weird if it was your horse LOL.

>My horses are much prettier.

I'm out of smilies, but I'd put one here if I could.

: )

DANA - OMG, look at your adorable new avatar!!! I love it!

>I told him how I liked playing with my dolls. And he says, "oh yeah, you had to knit your dolls, didn't you"? LMAO I told him, no, we did have REAL toys. Then he asks if I had to knit my clothes and if we had tv's "back then".

LMAO! The scary thing is, when I was a little kid, I had an 8-Track Player. And I can remember when we got this new-fangled thingy called The Microwave. I even remember when MTV started.

>I'm debating what I want to do tonight. Do I want to go to the new Target and buy a KB

BAAHAA! Oh yes, I definitely think you need to go and get yourself a KB. Definitely! So far I really, really like this new exercise.

>Anyone else who can't get into the workout manager? I did the first day but I can't anymore.

I haven't been back there since I checked it out the first day I was back, and on that day I could get in...

>next to their name you can "break friendship".

LOL. I thought it was funny that there is a list of people's names who came to look at your profile page. Also, what's with the star ratings for threads? Wacky!

Okay, nap time! Have a great weekend everyone!

: *

(Ohhh, the shame of having to resort to such smilies! LOL)

Hello August and Haters to Follow;

Michele-Thanks for the idea on gift giving. I didn't read all the post from yesterday.

August-Love the story about your first kettleball workout. We have somewhat of a new Target store near work, maybe 2 years old, and they might have them. Or, the very new Walmart close to home. Glad you didn't get sick and was able to enjoy your smoothie.

Robin-Have a Great Weekend.

Shannon-do you have a horse? Please post a picture. My brother,Don, had one and showed it at the State Fair in MI. Thanks.

Hello Dana and Jen.

Last night, we didn't get our rain so I must water this morning. Plus, I must go back near work on the vacant property my work owns and get the Queen Anne Laice flowers to replant on my hill. My CEO there have been squatters on the property sleeping overnight. It's odd that it's right near a major retail row and 2 malls and another FI. I'm waiting till they leave (going later this morning) and need to water the current plants now.

Pig Roast today near the big lake (Lake MI).

Morning haters.

August/Michele - you brats, I caved and went to Target last night and bought a 15lb KB. That was the lightest weight that they had. Maybe later tonight I"ll have some time to try it out. It came w/a DVD - I'm sure you got the same one Michele, is the DVD any good until I can get my hands on the same workout you guys bought??? Then I got to thinking, I NEVER know what to get my brother for Christmas. He has everything he needs and can buy whatever he wants. But, I doubt he owns a KB. LOL And Aug,you mention that your apt is tiny and so is his. So if you have enough room in your place to do it, then he should as well. What size though for a guy? He is pretty fit as he goes to the gym regularly. Do you think that would be a good gift? Every year I never know what to buy him. And if he doesn't like it, well then he can just take it back!!!!

It is amazing how calm you are during an earthquake. I'd have a heart attack. Thanks for the tips on what do to in an earthquake. I"m sure that they'll come in handy here in PA. Sorry, I just had to get that in. LOL. You know I luv ya!!!

Thanks for the compliment on the Ralphie avatar. I put 2 other pics of him in my "album". Kinda leery about putting any pics of my kids on there though. Of course, you can choose who you want to see your pics though. And since my only "friends" are you guys, and I don't mind you all looking at them. I should put the pics of my DH's new car on there too. He said it is my car too but I"m afraid to drive it. Plus, since it is from 1968 you can't even put a car seat in the back. And when do I EVER go anywhere alone????

Michele - how are things going for your DH? Has he implemented his diet & workouts yet? I know you'll be the perfect chef/trainer for him. I got an e-mail yesterday for Charlene Prickett's High Adventure at that lake in Canada. The pictures are absolutely beautiful. I'd love to go there. That seems to be more of a me type of trip rather then the road trip (although it the cost is significantly more). Hiking, kayaking, stregth training, gourmet meals. Now that would be the perfect haters gathering!!!! And only $1500/person for 4 nights, not including airfare.

Jennifer - so when you go to the pig roast, do you eat it? I"m really weird. I do like ham, bacon, sausage, BUT we have been to several pig roasts and I NEVER eat the meat. NEVER. Just the sight of the pig on a rotiseree (sp??) makes me ill. That is odd about the people sleeping on the propery where you are going to get the flowers. Be careful today when you go there!!!! How was work yesterday? Mine was boring.

Robin - I hope you have a super-spectacular time in NJ!!!!!

Shannon - what are you up to for the weekend?

So yesterday I went to get Ralphie his food during my lunch break. I go to a family owned pet supply store. They carry all sorts of things from specialty foods, supplies for horses, toys, etc. Pet Smart is opening about 10 miles from them and I really hope that it doesn't hurt their business. I for one will NOT be shopping at Pet Smart. This store is so nice, you walk it and the owners 2 schnauzers greet you. A beautiful parrot who is learning to talk is perched behind the counter. A big, fat, lazy orange kitty named Max relaxes on the counter while you are attempting to put your purchases up there. Funny how he lounges rignt behind the display of catnip! HA!!! There is a cat perch (or whatever the name is) for the other 2 kitties that live there. They have a big, beautiful fish tank right up front too. This business also houses cats for a local rescue group. Each crate that the cats are in have a litter box, food/water, toys and even a rug!!!! And they are so clean. ((Alice is gone by the way, I hope she found a good home)). The people that work there are great!!! The owner even told me that the dogfood that I get is on backorder b/c the company's warehouse is moving, yada, yada, yada. But, yesterday he said he was kindly asking his customers to please pay with check or cash b/c his fee for using debit/credit cards was $1500 for last month alone. I sure would hate to see this famiy run business close.

OMG last night when I took Gannon to Target w/me, he couldn't figure out why the balls in front of the building won't move. He was trying to kick & push them without much success. I kept telling them that they were concrete but little good that did.

I was kicking butt last night on the online scrabble game. Is my life exciting or what??? So what did you do on Friday night, "oh I played scrabble online w/a bunch of strangers".

Wow, have you noticed that this post is amazingly long???? Could it be that I'm just extremely chatty since I"m on my 4th cuppa joe or is it b/c I am trying to get out of cleaning the pig-pen??? Probably a bit of both.

I really should log off; there's the phone!!! Have a great weekend haters!

Hello Haters.

Good news, no squatters today at the flower site. The bad news is that the pig roast was kind of boring and I got tired cause the boys kept me up most of the early morning. The weird thing is that gas was at $3.83 a gallon near the interstate. The pork did taste well too. Lots of junk food too. Looking forward to the fall to get back into a routine of working out.

Hey, guys!
earthhug.gif

I thought I might have to start out my post today saying that I couldn't stand up or move at all after having done the KB workout yesterday...

I'm pleased to say that I have slight DOMS all over and feel very good! I can see that if I keep this workout up, my butt is going to win a contest.

adult2.gif

JENNIFER - Did you replant your flowers? How long does that kind of project take?

Sorry to hear the roast wasn't as fun as you hoped it would be. At least there was lots of junk food LOL.

DANA -

>you brats, I caved and went to Target last night and bought a 15lb KB.

BAHAA! LOL! This is great!

(Now just a few more Haters to work on muwahaha!)

No, no, I really love the newness of KB and the moves are just so up my alley -- and we're talking lunges and squats in there, which is near a miracle. I want the report on the DVD that came with your KBs. And 15lb is a good one to get for a starter, apparently.

As for your brother, check this out :

http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...l=4&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=2

I think it's a great gift idea - very original and inspiring! And yeah, even if your brother's place is anything like mine (small) it won't be a problem!

That family-owned pet store sounds nice. I generally cannot bring myself to go into any pet stores because seeing animals in small cages looking sad tends to bum me out for at least an entire week. So hearing that a store is so clean and caring about their animals is relieving. Hopefully it can stay in business.

Okay, I've got to get going....I'll chat with you guys later!

Hope you're having a nice Sunday!

Hello Haters.
It's Sunday already. Yes, I replant flowers. I put them all together so I only dug one hole and manure. My failure for replanting were some very expensive hostas from Lowe's, my successes have been all my free plants given to me from friends. I have repotted flowers too and small trees. But, my Dad is way better at this than me.
Scott has told me his schedule is light this week, so I might have a date.
Looking forward to my nap with Seville and Madrid this afternoon.
Rain coming this week.

Hi haters.

August - thanks for the link. Unfortuately, for some reason my DH has disconnected the speakers on the computer and I have no idea how to get them working again. I"ll check it out tomorrow at work.

Michele - WTH are you? I did see you posted that CC is onsale! I had mentioned before that I wanted to get volume 2 b/c it is shorter. I"m going to order it later today. At only $12.95, what a steal!!! What a great guy he is!

Jennifer - so who is Scott? You may have mentioned him before but I don't recall it. Glad your flowers are looking good.

Ralphie is sick today. Yesterday he snuck and ate an entire pound of ground beef that I was going to take over to my moms. I was so worried that he'd eaten the plastic and was going to be blocked up. Thank God, I found the plastic this morning. But, he has diarehhia, so right now I chained him outside. There is no way he is going to mess in the house.

There was some very, very disturbing news in our paper yesterday. You may not even want to read this. I live in a very rural area - very low crime. Anyway, this farmer has barn cats and he said in the article that just a few were friendly and every morning when he would go to feed them, the 10 month old black and white cat would come to him and she loved for her neck to be pet. The other morning when he went out to feed them she wasn't there. Later in the day he found her, dead. Someone had disembowled her, then cut the skin off her face and peeled her face off. I'm crying as I type this. What kind of monster does this to a helpless animal?? WHY??????? What kind of person is living in our little community?? I hope that whoever did this is caught and sent to jail. Who knows what he/she will do next? I"m sure that in the upcoming days there will be much public comment in the newspaper.

Sorry to be such a downer with that last paragraph.

I'm gonna get going. We're going over to the races today so I better go get a shower.

Talk to you all later!!!

Hey there!!

I'm here, I'm here! I was gone ALL DAY yesterday. The bridal shower was yesterday and I left early in the morning and didn't get home until late last night. I had to go out of town for it and it was a long haul -- and the battery died on my Tahoe  and I had one hell of a time trying to get a new one installed at 5:00 on a Saturday :( . I ended up at Walmart!

I'm getting ready to do my PP workout. I don't know if I can get back on the computer today or not. DH has to write a grant proposal and we have some other stuff to do, so I may not make it back here until tomorrow.

Yes, yes, take advantage of the CC sale! I cannot believe how much he has slashed his prices. He's practically giving his workouts away!

Oh dear, I need to go. Sorry for the lack of personals, but I'll make up for it later.

*MWAH*

Hello Haters.
Sunday is here and my nap time is just around the corner. Scott is an alumni from my college (northwood university). We're supposed to not have a busy week and maybe meet this sometime.
Hope you all have a great day.
