August

Cathlete
Hello!

Wow, you guys were busy on the forums yesterday! It was fun catching up.

Today was leg day, so I did my faves from Gym Legs, and then I did Bar Method, which I haven't done in ages. Ho-hum. I guess that's all to say about that.

Onwards!

Robin - How you feeling? I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Raw throat sounds awful. You should make some of Michele's ginger cocoa...Salad on a pizza night? You are a strong woman.

>I wish my DD would have done that until of waiting until she was delivering to say "Mom, I think I'm having a baby."

CLASSIC! LMAO.

Diane - Cool idea for the pregnancy surprise for your family! They'll totally cry!

Michele -

>A lot of people use CC for walking/running, and it's really the best way to enjoy a donut.

LMAO.

Hardee har har, I'm glad my smoothies "sound good, except for the green ones"...you know darn well that 99.9% of them ARE GREEN ONES!...That's so great that you got so much out of that cardio challenge. Do they do them regularly? It would be kind of fun to know that someone else was doing exactly the same workout as you at the same time....Your dinner! OMG! I want to see what REAL barley looks like! Like, professionally made barley! What's the deal with serving barley AND rice, though? Aren't they kind of similar in purpose? So how does professionally cooked barley taste different? Was the consistency heavenly?

>Chocolate Seduction Cake

Holy mother.

Arista - I work half in my apartment and half outside of my apartment (okay, haha you guys, you know what I mean). I don't have any kind of scheduled time frame, just general deadlines, so I'm in charge of when I want to play Nintendo and when I want to work LOL. It takes some discipline as you can imagine. It's great to have this kind of schedule for so many reasons, but one thing that's maybe not so sweet about it is that weekends and holidays don't have that special shine like they used to. Most days, I have no idea what day of the week it is. But I ain't complainin!...LOTR! I see. Would you believe that I have never seen (or read) any of them? I just never had the chance to. Oh, fear not, we're mostly geeks here, at least personally speaking, as you could probably sense from my Nintendo quip. Anyway, I'm sure Gandalf will love to be inside and hang out with you! Growing up all my cats were always in&outside cats, but now that I live in an apartment where there would be no way of letting a cat outside, I've been growing more used to the idea of not letting cats out to play. Just stock up on toys and climbing things!...Your smoothies sound yum! I used to tinker around with different flavors (frozen apple sauce is really good), but recently I've been pretty much having the same one which is a mixture of : frozen banana, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, water, protein powder (usually vanilla), a couple tablespoons of oatmeal or All-Bran, and a big handful of greens (spinach-type). It's not the most aesthetically pleasing smoothie, but it sure hits the spot!

Dana -

>I was dying at your post yesterday (I think, or Fri) about the mushrooms. Next time I will remember to chew, chew, chew! LOL Guess what I just did 5 minutes ago?

For a minute there, I thought you were going to tell us that you performed the magic trick! LOL!

So you ordered the Totally Cool Step? Yay! Yes, that's the one I haven't tried yet, so give me the report! (Unless you hate it, in which case don't tell me LOL.)...Your luncheon sounds like a hoot! I hope there will be something decent there to eat LOL. Have you made the dip yet? Did it turn out yummy?...Poor Gannon, his cold sounds awful! I hope he'll get better soon....Okay, whadya buy at Wal-Mart. Tell........OMG, would that be so funny to name a cat Barley? I'm halfway through my kitty book. I already have another book lined up next.

Jen - LOL, Kickboxing and pizza. Sounds like some good purchases to me! My arms are better, but my chest is, well, actually, it's not even really my chest, but more my armpits LOL. My armpits have DOMS. Not sure if that's a good thing or not....I love green beans, too. I went through a big green bean phase and used to snack on them in the middle of the night when I was doing BFFM and was desperate....How horrible about your co-worker being let go after 10 years. That must be scary to have to go and find another position elsewhere. Of course, you can check in here whenever you please, so don't get in trouble at work! Can you imagine getting fired for posting on the Cathe forum? LOL....My laundry/dryer machine is such that I cannot clean behind or under it, and a few years ago I dropped one chocolate-covered raisin behind it. It drives me nuts to no end thinking about how he is living there, taking showers and saunas and just hanging out. Once a DVD slipped underneath and it took me like two hours to get it out. I practically cried with joy when I got it, though LOL. Mr. Choco Raisin however, he's there longterm.

All right. I'm off to work.

Later!

LOL at Mr Choco Raisin and his own little world. I hate to even think what may be lurking under my washer and dryer. Although we have floods in the basement often enough that things should get washed out. Or maybe they get washed in.

I think I'm well on the road to recovery from the naggy little cold. My throat isn't nearly as raw this morning. I hoping I'll have enough energy to do a light workout this evening. And maybe enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. Oh, wait, that's the Hedonists check in.

The chocolate treats are piling up in the break room. I really will have to avoid that room today.

Michele, enjoy your liquid diet. My thoughts will be with you. Like I said, it didn't seem as bad as everyone made it out to be. Who will be caring for you after the procedure? I sure hope you have someone lined up. I was totally wifty after mine and ended up taking an extra day off of work.

Dana, is Gannon any better. I'm hoping Greyor doesn't catch what DH and I had. We tried to stay away from him as much as possible.

Have a wonderful Monday all you haters.

Good to hear that you're doing better.

>Or maybe they get washed in.

LOL.

I'm sure Mr. Choco Raisin has made friends and hangs with them on a regular basis. My only hope is that he hasn't gained a tremendous amount of weight since I last saw him.

You know, with all the chocolate treats and International lunch buffet day and this and that, I'm starting to see increased benefits of working outside the home.

Okay, wait, where did Michele start talking about her upcoming Colonopokey?

Morning everyone. I'm off today. Gannon is STILL sick. The doctor's office opens at 8:00 so I'm going to call there right at 8:00. Poor baby. At least I avoid that crazy luncheon. I didn't make the dip b/c when I went to Wal-Mart, they didn't have roquefort cheese. What exactly is roquefort cheese? I was going to head out to the grocery store last night in search of the cheese but it started snowing, sooooooo, I was just going to pick up the cheese on the way to work and make it there. But, I'm not going to work.

Michele - is your procedure today? My mom had it done 2x (I think, or maybe just 1x) but she said it wasn't as bad as she thought. She was mostly groggy from the anestesia (sp??) more then anything. How's the eye?

Robin - glad you are feeling better. Have you eaten any chocolates yet? Did you see that there is going to be a chocolate festival in Lewisburg??? (maybe it was this past weekend, I don't remember). It was (or is) $15 to get in - adults only. Sounds interesting. Did you get any snow up your way? Not much right here but Danville is on a 2 hour delay and when I called off work my co-worker said that they got a lot of snow. I have to drive to Danville to take Gannon to the dr. I hope it is all melted by the time I've got to head out. You are too funny about not noticing pregnant women until you are pregnant. But you are 100% on the money with that one. Ya know, I really never noticed anything about other people's children until I had my own.

Arista - oh I w/you, I don't like Denise Austin either. She is on Lifetime in the mornings and if I'm flipping through the channels and I see her I cannot watch her.

Jen - what possessed you to move your stove to clean under it???? I would have to agree that it a clean freak. LOL I have cleaned under our refrigerator 2x (both times the thingy for the ice maker was messed up so DH moved the refrigerator). Sure is a lot of dust under there. We've only been in our house 3.5 years. No way do I want to see what is under my stove. Wow, I can't believe that guy got fired after 10 years for not producing enough sales. I hope that your position is not in jeopardy. Don't worry about not logging in during the day - we'll all catch up with at some point.

August - I will give you a full report of the Christi DVD. I hope that I get it this week. I agree, your smoothies do sound good but I would not attempt to make one. I would definitely try one if you made it but putting the greens in it, I think that I would imagine tasting spinach. Not that I don't love spinach but not sure about it being mixed in w/all that other stuff.

Gannon just got up and I took him temp and it is 99.7. He is very pleasant but I am still calling the dr. Better safe then sorry. I hate the receptionists at this particular office. They ask you a million questions and if you child just has a cold, they try to deter you from making an appointment. Drives me nuts!!!

Ladies I WILL do some sort of workout tonight. I figure that since I'm home, I can get all the house stuff done and then I'll have time tonight to workout. And if, that is a big if, Gannon naps, I'll do the elliptical.

Guess what I saw on tv this morning? An infermercial (sp?) for P90X, now I really want it. LOL. I know that they really play up the infermercials but this does look great. I never even saw Tony Horton or whatever his name is before and he didn't seem too annoying. I know that there have been posts about how annoying he is. I guess if you can put up with Denise Austin for any amount of time, then putting up w/Tony would be a walk in the park, huh? I did't watch the entire thing so I don't know what the advertisment price was.

Hi to Jan-Jan, mommy Diane, Deb and anyone else that I may have missed.

Have a great day all and I will check back with you haters later! :)

I have a small request...NO FOOD TALK...NO FOOD TALK...PULEEASE...NO TALK ABOUT FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hungry.

I want a bagel.

ColonoPOKEY?--LMAO!!

Oh, the barley wasn't served with rice, it was prepared in the same manner as rice pilaf...only instead of rice they used barley.

I want a large, steaming bowl of barley.

What's the Bar Method?

Oh, DH took tomorrow morning off so he could take me for the pokey.

I want chocolate. Robin, STEP AWAY FROM THE BREAK ROOM!!!

Poor Gannon! Please lets us know what the doctor says. Oooh, international food day!! I would love that. LOVE French food. Dana, You would love French food. There's so much more than eggs, cheese, and butter, like Coq Au Vin (basically a chicken stew). You would LOVE it.

I want some Coq Au Vin.

Jen, by all means don't jeopardize your job to chat with us. We'll be here when you get home;).

I have to go to the pharmacy and pick up my pills. At least I don't have to drink that ghastly concoction...my doctor is just making me swallow about 40 pills with lots of clear fluids;(

See you later :* :* :*

Hi Ladies -

Dana - I hope Gannon feels better soon!

Jen - I check in at work too, but usually have to keep it short so I am not great at personals all the time.

Michele - Are you talking about the Bar Method videos? It is sorta dance inspired and they really made my butt look good. But I got bored of them after a while and didn't like the ab work in them. Still do some of the moves when just standing around cooking because they really lift your butt.

I finally got a new battery yesterday for my scale and I must have lost quite a bit of weight on the ETL. I am down 4 pounds from before I started, and I know that I have gained a couple pounds already in this pregnancy because I have a pot belly all the time from water weight or gas or something. So I was probably below my goal weight before getting pregnant.

Here is a vegetarian chili that we tried last night and it was really good:

2 cans pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
1 16 oz jar of prepared salsa (mild or medium)
1 cup frozen corn (defrosted)
1 12-16 oz package of soy crumbles (looks like ground beef made of soy, in either freezer or fridgerated section)
1/2 cup water
1 tsp cumin

Just put them all together in a pot, bring to a simmer and cook over medium-low covered for 15 min. Serve with stone ground tortilla chips (we just baked cut up pieces of whole wheat tortilla to make chips) and a side salad. Makes 6 servings so lots of left overs. Also has a ton of protein in it, like 60 grams a serving or something.

ETA: I did Buff Moms to Be video this morning and a 20 min walk. I went to sleep so early last night because I was just exhausted so I woke up early on my own around 5:30 and had tons of time to work out. It was nice.

August, Mr Choco Raisin can't have gained too much weight or your washer would be unbalanced. He probably under there lifting and doing cardio. Lots and lots of cardio.

Dana, I'm glad Gannon is a little better and hope he is his old self soon. Yes, I gave in a tasted a little (OK, a lot) of the chocolate treats. Sorry Michele. We got about 2 inches of snow at my house, but there is less than an inch here in W-port. I hadn't heard about the chocolate thing in Lewisburg. Sorry Michele. Probably a good thing.

Michele, glad to hear your DH will be there for you. I felt fine, but the next day, I could barely remember anything from the day of the procedure. MMMMM, coq au vin. Sorry, Michele, you started it.

Good mornin girls -

I'm going to get my cat today, so no workout this morning. Gotta leave early to get home before dark. Luckily we didn't get any snow last night, so it will be a relaxing drive. I do hate it when it snows... I hope your snow melts before you have to drive to the doctor Dana!

Yup, I don't think I've ever moved my appliances just to clean under them. Hey, if the washer happens to dance across the room, great. But if not, I'm just going to leave that little world (and its chocolate covered raisins) alone.

Diane - That chili sounds really good! Thanks for the recipe. And congrats on the weight loss! I recently lost 9 pounds (of the about 29 I needed to lose) and then gained 4 of them back over the holidays.

I'm starting to feel bad about keeping my cat inside... he's always looking out the windows and pacing (or sleeping). I do play with him throughout the day (I work from home), but I can't play with him 24/7! Oh well, I'm not ready to let him go out yet, but maybe soon. Hopefully, bringing Gandalf home today will give him someone to play with.

Michele - I agree! NO food talk. I'm always hungry, and I find its better if I can just ignore it! MMmmm, bagels.... Sorry!

A chocolate festival?! Are you kidding? OMG. I wanna go!

OK, so what's P90X??? I need to know. It sounds tough, whatever it is.

Alright, gotta go. I'll let you know how it goes with my big fat cat. Have a great day girls! :)

If you use the search function, you'll find a ton of posts about P90X. It's a series of workouts sold by beachbody.com. Lots of weight work. Some people swear by it. Others haven't cared for it. Lots don't like Tony Horton. I haven't been able to justify the cost. I keep thinking if I ever reach my goal weight (8 more pounds) I'll splurge and try one of the rotations. I can never get any closer then 5 pounds away.

I'm hungry.

I'm sipping a warm mug of chicken bouillon.

I wish it were a chicken sandwich.

Diane, I checked out the links you posted the other day. Wow, that Cirque du Soleil exerciser was awesome! That picture of her doing a backbend had me worried. I mean, that's not part of the workout, is it!?

Your chili sounds great, except that I would add more beans and nix the tofu.

Mmmmmm...chili.

Michele - I know that backbend scared me too! But they have beg/int/adv modifications for every move so I will just do what I feel comfortable with. I am definitely taking the approach that I should only do moderate exercise (walking and light toning), even during the first trimester. The video I am using now only uses 3 lb weights, even for your back. That is the one thing I don't like about the workout, it doesn't work your back enough. I actually feel a little burn in my biceps and shoulders because of all the reps, but triceps and back don't feel anything.

And the soy crumbles don't taste like tofu, they look and taste like ground beef. If you don't like ground beef, then definitely don't add them :) I know you don't like tofu, but tonight we are having "shake and bake" tofu that is so yummy. Just cut up tofu and coat in wheat germ and salt free seasoning and baked for 15 min.

Diane, my DH would probably love the shake and bake tofu recipe. He loves tofu. I've tried it several times and I just can't eat it. My DH likes to grill it and put it in his salads and he loves it in soups and stews, too.

I'll bet 3 #'s doesn't seem like much for your back. My back and chest are my strongest muscles and I can usually go heavy with both. My arms and shoulders are wimpy, though;(

I'm back so here's a quick update. Gannon has RSV, just a mild case of it. It is a really long name but it basically is an upper respiratory viral infection so no meds to treat it. But he does have an ear infection so they gave me antibiotics for that. I don't know how long I"ll be off work b/c they told me the fever can last a week. In Pa, if your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, they cannot be at daycare and if they are sent home from daycare w/a fever, they cannot return for 24 hours. So I know that I will be home tomorrow at least. Thank God I am not busy at work.

I had one heck of a morning. At 8:00 I called the dr to make the appt. First I couldn't find Gannon's insurance card - then it hit me. I must have thrown it away. The last place that filled his prescription puts your insurance card in the bag rather then giving it to you and I know remember taking the medicine out of the bag and throwing the bag away. So I'm on hold for 30 minutes just to get the office to schedule me an appointment. Then I had to call and get a new card which the girl said she can get right to me. After the appt, I go to the grocery store, drop off the prescription and they say it will be about 20 minutes, so I walk around and get a few things and when I went to pick up the medicine, they didn't have it. They were nice enough to call another pharmacy to see if they had it, which they did. They even wrote down our insurance info since I never had a prescription filled at the other place. We left at 10:30 and were gone for 3 hours! There was about 4 inches of snow where I had to go. Here at my house, only 12 miles away, just a coating. Weird.

Arista - I'm glad you are getting your kitty today. Maybe since your other cat will have some kitty company, he won't seem as interested to get outside.

Diane - good job with the workouts. How long have you been doing ETL? That chili does sound good but I don't like tofu either. I have tried it several times and I just don't care for it. I think b/c it reminds me of scrambled eggs! LOL

Michele - so tomorrow is your appt? I'll be thinking of you. I'll try not to mention food. But had I known about that French soup, I would've asked you for the recipe. While I was at the grocery store, I looked for the Roquefort cheese and didn't see it.

Well, Gannon is crying. I'll BBL.

Dana! RSV! Yikes, that can be really serious. I'm glad his is a mild case and that you took him to the doctor. Oh, and Roquefort cheese is blue cheese. It is blue because, yes, it has a mold growing in it. Yuk! I don't do moldy cheese. My DD and DH love it though.

Dana - I hope Gannon feels better soon now that you know what he has. RSV sounds scary! And I love moldy cheeses, but can't have any for the next 9 months x(

Dana...{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{SUPER BIG HUGS FOR GANNON}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Can I add in some cyber kisses too! Ugh, poor little guy, RSV is so not fun and it is scary. Its better for him since he is older now, but ugh still it is a nasty thing. Poor little guy. Honestly, I am so glad Marley is not in day care any more. She just was sick the whole time and it sucked. Poor guy! I hope he gets better soon!
I hate taking Marley to the Dr, it is such a freggin pain in the booty and it takes forever. I really hope he gets better soon.

So, here is my travel schedule for the next 30 days....
1/31-02/01 (red eye flight back home) Portland
2/20-2/22 Las Vegas (no not for fun for work)
2/26-2/27 Denver

I think I will be able to go around the world with all the miles I am getting on my One Pass account. This is NUTS!!

So, how is everyone? Good? Michele how is the eye?

Diane, sounds like boy?....Did you do the gender thing?

Hi Jana.

Wow you are doing plenty of traveling. Is this normal for your position or is it only b/c it is tax time?

Michele - sending big hugs your way! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

I still have not worked out. DH got home from work, showered and then said he had to go to Home Depot and some auto parts store. So when he gets home, he WILL be watching these children so I can workout. No sure what I'm going to do. Of course, I don't feel like cardio. Ha!

Here is a funny story for you. My DH's cousin has lived in Texas her entire life. I think she is in her late 40's. Anyway, she moved up here to Pa about 2 months ago b/c her DH was abusing her. I guess it was going on for awhile and she finally left him. Well, he was in a motorcycle accident and died and she had to go back to TX to plan his funeral. While she was planning the funeral, she met some guy and he flew up to Pa to help her pack her things b/c she is moving back to Tx to be with him. How weird is that? Hooking up while planning your husband's funeral.

Jen - what workout did you end up doing tonight?

OK - I'm outta here!!!!

Talk to you all tomorrow! Have a great night all.

Dana - That is a crazy story about your friend.

Jana - That is a ton of traveling! I think it is a girl according to the lunar calendar thing, but based on timing, I think it may more likely be a boy. DH and I decided on our names the other day: Benjamin Thomas (Ben) or Ava Grace.

{{{{{{{{{{DANA}}}}}}}}}} I hope poor Gannon is feeling better soon.

Diane, LOVE the names!

Jana, your life makes me dizzy--lol!

Hi to everyone else.

Okay, I probably won't post again until late tomorrow or Wednesday. Take care everybody :* :* :*

August - That is hysterical about Mr. Choco Raisin... too funny! Mabye one of these days he'll grow legs & walk out...LOL! At least you got the important thing though, the dvd!

Dana- Yeah, I am a little on the freaky side when it comes to cleaning... plus the new kitty was looking under there like he lost a toy so I got the flashlight out to look under there & it looked very dirty so I decided to just yank it out & clean under it! Sorry to hear Gannon has RSV, I hope the medicine is helping. Really good thing you aren't busy at work too, that makes it a little less stressful for you. I ended up doing Shape It Up tonight, another beach body. I need to go back to Saturdays post to see what I had scheduled for tomorrow! I know I'm taking Wednesday off-dentist appoitment.

Michele - Hope you are doing okay, 40 pills-WOW!

Dana-Wow, congrats on the weight loss-that is always a joyful surprise! That vegetarian chilli sounds awesome, I will for sure have to try that, YUM!

Arista - I laughed at the "dance across the room" comment, too funny! Hope you got the kitty & have him safe back at home now.

Well I am done working out and had a Kaluha (not Kahula, August)and diet hot coca and now am getting hungry... not sure what I'm having for dinner tonight-I have been addicted to lean cuisine brick oven roasted garlic chicken pizza-have you guys tried those? They are really good. Sport, the new kitty, is so needy and wants my attention all the time-I do like it though since Storm is so opposite of him. He was standing at my feet tonight while working out crying for me to pick him up, he is so sweet.

Well off to figure out what dinner is, hope you all had a great day. It was strange at work today with Bryan gone. I have worked with him for 6 years in sales and both been with the company 10years so it is just strange. However, he was a little on the lazy side and a very reactive type person-not proactive which is how you have to be right now when business isn't just falling in your lap like it was during the refi boom. So... hopefully he will find another job and be just fine, I will say a prayer for him & his family. I will "see you" guys tomorrow night! :)
