August

Cathlete
Good morning!

Man, this thread is makin me late :p ! Goodness, you guys were having fun yesterday while I was slaving away at work LOL!!

And now I really am late for work. I'm bullet walking to my meeting and will have to throw in today's cardio throughout the day as I fly around to various places.

I'm off! Oh, August 28. I'll be 38.

Robin - Sweet Potato Smoothie. Now I had not thought of that! LOL...YAY! You got your washing machine!!

>It will be delivered Monday and we can start to climb Mt Washmore.

LMAO.

Grilling up shrimp with rosemary sounds incredible. I love rosemary. I have to try that!

Mariah - Heh, nah, I don't exercise at 5am in the morning. Actually, I usually workout around 11am. But like Michele wrote, I live a day ahead of you guys, and that's why it's so easy for me to steal the first post of the day every day!...I totally think that whatever time you have to do exercise is great, whether it be 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour, or more. I think what you're doing is great. Not to mention you're on your feet a lot in your work.

Michele - I admired your want list. Don't get CTX. It's got the song I hate on it LOL.

>I saw you post about your dirty undies and I was worried you might have to beat them on rocks or something

LMAO LMAO!

Yeah, WTH is Kate and Janjan?

As for Mr. Choco Raisin, he's the resident living under my washing machine. Remember how my washing machine is such that I cannot move it? And once a Cathe DVD slipped underneath it and I spent HOURS trying to fish it out with a wire hanger? Well, Mr. Raisin absolutely refuses to come out from his bungalow, and is too clever to get friendly with the wire hanger. It drives me crazy to no end knowing that he is just there all the time, mocking me and growing unimaginably unkempt.

Come to think of it, I never had a chance to check if Choco Raisin is a he or a she, but I can only guess that he's a he, because quite frankly, I can't imagine any female raisin choosing such a lifestyle.

>I'm an elder and should function as a role model

LMAO.

Tater tots. Man, I love tater tots. I have not had tater tots in AGES. And that's not by choice. I don't think I can find them here.

Arista -

>Does anyone find it odd that the abbreviation for Valentine's Day is VD?

LMAO!

Menu plans, menu plans...well, here's a gist of what I eat:

BREAKFAST Yogurt, cottage cheese and cut up apple and one other fruit (kiwi, mango, papaya or whatever is in season)

POST-WORKOUT Smoothie: Whey powder, banana, blueberries, strawberries, spinach, All-Bran or raw oats OR protein pancakes (egg whites, raw oats, banana, organic peanut butter)

LUNCH A sweet potato and a glass of soymilk OR Grilled fish and veggies

SNACK An apple with organic peanut butter OR raw nuts and seeds OR if I'm not near real food, a protein bar

DINNER Chicken or fish and steamed veggies...and although I had given up eating desserts for some time, recently I've been having some kind of crap to make up for the rest of my healthy day LOL

Dana - I'd been planning to do CTX one week, S&H one week and then the Pyr for two weeks, but seeing that I'm having good ol' DOMS from S&H, I'm tempted to make the S&H two weeks...I'm also tempted to try out the sweet potato smoothie, just so I can tell you guys that I did LOL. But I get the feeling that it would end up making my blender very, very angry.

>>Michele – so are you talking to me today? LOL

>Walk...it's WALK with you...and NO -- I will NOT walk with you, you little speed demon you-- ROTFLMAO!

OMG, that cracked me up.

Jen - These days I never have bread in my apartment, either. I love to toast a sliced banana on WW bread and then slather it up with organic peanut butter. Which isn't a bad snack,....if I could stop at one slice LOL....Is your tummy trouble from your cold, do you think? Are you saying you think it's the hot water that's giving you the "helping" hand? That's pretty impressive!...Anyway, good lawd, girl, you've been ill! Give yourself a break with the workouts and eating!....Thanks for that really yummy-sounding recipe! I wish someone would make it for me LOL. Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention when I told you I have one pot. I don't have an oven. I know. But it's true. Did you try out those recipes? They really sound good.

Diane -

>you have encouraged an new unhealthy craving for me, thanks a lot.

>I had a donut this morning! A blueberry cake donut! So bad, yet so good.

LMAO!!! Your pregnancy is making you feisty, woman! I like that!

Oh man, am I late.

Later!

Goodmorning August and all to follow. I hope you got to where you needed to be on time. I imagine you did, with your bullet speed.

We've changed some plans around. Greyor kept us all up last night. He is working on a cold or something and was pretty miserable. We decided to postpone our trip to visit Tristan until tomarrow after church. That, however, made it possible to have my new washer delivered today instead of Monday. I never thought I'd find myself getting so excited about doing laundry.

Because I have an unexpected day at home, I have lots of plans. I'm going to make some bread, do some housework, maybe get some carpet shopping done and do a workout. Today calls for Leaner Legs. Can this be "The I Hate Leg Day Check In" today? So now I'm off to find a nutritious breakfast and get the day started. "See" you all later.

Hi chicas-how the heck are ya all? I miss talkin with you guys but its hard to get on lately because if I'm on the boards with youu gals I'm not doing something else I should be doing (like working out or feeding the dog, looking for a job, etc)- I've only had time to read todays posts so I'm not caught up or anything- August-you need to be a stand up comic-someone needs to sign you to the Late show or the Jimmy Kimmel show or the Whoopi show-you make me laugh every time-the visual I have of your raisin.....Robin-you have a new washing machine? what kind is it? mine is dying a slow death and we are going to need to replace it soon- and you mentioned Leaner Legs- I did that for the first time this last week and I could not work out again for 3 days-not kidding-I was so sore-I loved it!-last night I got together with some friends and had some wine (which I love) but I've decided I cannot drink anymore cuz when I drink I eat everything in sight and I don't stop, then all that working out goes to waste-why work your butt off and then sabatouge (sp?) yourself-we'll see how long I last without my Sunday night ritual of a glass of moscato with my Desperate Housewives on (LOL) --well I hope to pop in more often-HI to everyone else and have a good day--deb

Robin - I'm so sorry to hear that today is leg day for you. That really bites...But an unexpected day at home filled with all that fun stuff makes up for it! Fresh bread! Fresh panties! Think of all the goodness!...As for my bullet walk, I ended up getting there 15 minutes early! LOL.

Deb - DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!! We've missed you!!!!! Ooh, I love Desperate Housewives (though I've only seen a dozen or so on video). And I think that blond actor who plays the husband of the three boys (was it three boys?) is a total hottie...So how is the job hunt going? This morning I got up ready to do my cardio, but made the mistake of coming onto the boards first. I read up on all the posts, and then I was totally late for work LMAO! I totally used my workout time to write comments on all the posts! Being anal can really get in the way of stuff sometimes :* ...If you guys were the only ones in the audience of a stand-up club, I might barge up on stage and do a show for you Haters. I might even do a dance featuring my Running Man, and maybe even a little of my Martin Short dance if all else failed. :* Anyway, it was great to "see" you here today!

August, Robin, Deb, August -- Good morning!!!!

I'm just now gearing up to do my Cardio Coach workout:D :+

Unlike August, I will not be sidetracked by spending time talking to y'all --LMAO!!!

You know I love ya :* :* :* :* :*

August, I want front row seats at that performance:7

Deb, WTH have you been!? We've missed you:*

August, I'll bet Mr. Raisin comes out while you're sleeping to stretch, have a look around, grab a shower, get a little something to eat...and I see your point -- a girl raisin would never put up with those living conditions --LMAO!

Robin, have fun climbing Mt Washmore! I hear there's a fresh baked loaf of bread waiting for you on the top:*

I gotta run, I'm meeting Tammy (figuratively speaking) for a CC workout. I'll BBL:* :*

Hello Cardio/Leg Haters!!! Wow, it is 11:45 here and I am ready for a nap. I got up about 8 & got busy... I stripped the sheets off the bed, brushed teeth, put contacts back in, and got my w/o clothes on. Downstairs for an hour of sweating to Powerstrike 1, man how I love that workout, that isn't cardio, right? Cause if it is then there is actually one cardio w/o I LOVE! After that I jumped in the shower quickly, changed clothes & ran to Petsmart to get kitty food, litter, and TOYS, TOYS, TOYS!!! Sport has found a toy that is 3 times longer than his body & he carries it around the house ALL the time, it is so cute. He also has an obsession with feathers so I stocked up on those toys to have "back ups" for when he tears the current ones up, I have been sweeping the floor daily since having him-he sheds a little worse than storm & I have pieces of feathers all the house. But, he has fun & that is all that matters! Anyway, then stopped at Walgreens for naproxine & light bulb for the fridge, back home to sweep and put everything away. Now, I AM STARVING...I haven't eaten anything yet but decided may as well wait until lunch now-think I'll have a lean cuisine brick oven roasted garlic pizza. Ok, enough about me.

August- How can you be late for work when you work from home?!?!? I agree about Mr. Choco Raisin being a man, any decent woman wouldn't live in that environment! No, I didn't try those recipes...are you kidding me? I am like you, I don't cook! I have an oven but the only things that get baked in it is the fat free pizza I buy-out of the wrapper, into the oven, and dinner is served. Maybe we can get Robin to make them for us, she seems to like to bake! Not sure what my tummy trouble is, I've always had stomach "issues", before I learned the hot water trick I would only "go" once a week or less. Yep, hot water stimulates the body to "go"-it took me two weeks of drinking hot water at the same time each day before it starting working but now it works almost every time. I drink a glass after my shower each morning.

Robin- That is awesome that you were able to buy the washer & have it delivered today. Sorry Greyor is feeling sick & keeping you up, you must be tired today. You will have clean undies, YIPPEE! Isn't it crazy how stuff like that can just make you so happy? We had a tornado come through here last March & I was without power for 6 days, when I finally got it back it was like the best feeling in the world, the first thing I did was sweep the house, it's amazing how much we take for granted now-a-days! How was Leaner Legs? Your day yesterday made me tired lady, take it easy today or you'll end up making yourself sick.

Michele- How was Cardio Coach?

Deb-Don't think I've talked to you before, hello!

Arista, Diane, Dana, and Terri-HAPPY SATURDAY!

Okay, I am really starving now, going to heat up my pizza. BBL!

So If you never hear from me again, please send evac im prob passed out
very busy at work today feel like i already got my workout
Robin,, Having a new washer is almost like having a new toy, and the first few loads feels like fun rather then a chore. I remember when i moved her to fla the mobile home i bought had a washer and drying in it, rather then when in NY i had to bring my laundry. I would look for extra things to wash, so that i could experience the high from having MY OWN washing machine LOL Sounds like the Clampetts

Hello, Haters
I feel like it's been forever since I visited, but it's only been a few days.

And it's official: dd has her first boyfriend. It's pretty innocent - they didn't even exchange phone numbers! I am thankful that she felt comfortable enough to tell me about it. Let's hope that trend continues through her teenage years.

August: I have a couple of good sweet potato recipes. First one is yamcakes but you good easily substitute sweet potatoes. It's from BFFM program:

4 egg whites
1/2 c oatmeal
1/4 c skim milk
6 oz yam (or sweet potato), mashed, skinned
3 tbls. whole wheat pancake mix
1 scoop plain or vanilla flavored protein powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp maple or vanilla extract

Microwave or bake yam/sweet potato and then remove the skin.

Place the yam/sweet potato and all the other ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Mixture will be rather thick.

Preheat a nonstick skillet on medium heat. Pour mixture into the pan to form 4 small pancakes. Flip as soon as the bottom side is lightly browned and firm enough to flip.

Makes 4 yamcakes.

This next recipe is FABULOUS! But you have to have a sweet tooth.

3/4 c packed brown sugar
1/2 c chopped pecans
1/4 c. chilled butter cut into 1/4" pieces
5 lbs. sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large pieces

4 large eggs
3 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugar, pecans and butter in small bowl. Cover and chill until ready to use. Can be made up to 2 days ahead. Keep refrigerated.

Lightly butter 13x9x2" baking dish. Cook sweet potatoes in large pot of boiling water until very tender, about 12 minutes. Drain. Let stand in colander 15 minutes. Puree sweet potatoes in processor or mash with potato masher or mixer.

Beat eggs, syrup, vanilla, lemon juice and salt in large bowl. Mix in pureed sweet potatoes. Transfer sweet potato mixture to prepared dish. Sprinkle pecan topping evenly over mixture.

Bake until sweet potato mixture is set and topping bubbles abo9ut 1 hour. Let stand 15 minutes and serve.

Robin: Tell me where you're at in the re-decorating process? I'll be happy to guide you any way I can.

Hello out to Heather and Deb, whom I haven't met yet! But Heather your reputation for being a well-written/spoken poster has preceeded you.

I understand about being "late" for work when you office out of your home. That's why I haven't been posting lately because of work demands. If I lurk all day on the forum (which can happen quite easily!) I'd never get anything done.

And the tator tot discussion prompted me to make tator tot hotdish for tonight's supper. I know, I know, it's not very clean, but oh, so yummy! I'll only have a little bit.

Jen: there's no such thing as being "sick" in your vocabulary! I can't believe all you do when you're not feeling well. What do you do when you ARE feeling well? And how dirty can your house be when it's only you? Heaven forbid if you ever visited me...YIKES!

Still haven't discovered the name of that song. It isn't what Mariah had posted unforunately. But thank you for the attempt to help out! Does anyone have Low Impact Cardio?

Diane: are you letting everyone know you're pregnant? How 'bout them thoughtful co-workers who forgot about you?

It's a bit quite on the weekends, eh? Everyone must be doing cardio shopping...

Terri

Hello everyone!!

Happy Saturday. I thought I'd spare you my sob story regarding my homework and wait to post until I was done. I wrote an awesome C++ program today!! Woo-hoo.

I was so stressed out over it all day (I was being a real butthead to my fiance)... and then I got it done in just 3 or 4 hours, so now I have the whole evening to relax and do NOTHING. I mean NOTHING. I didn't work out today (but I walked for an hour yesterday). I feel like I need a few hours of nothing-ness. Ryan came down with a cold last week and I feel like I could be getting it too, so that's my excuse.

Mmmmm, tater-tot casserole!!! You guys are killin' me here.

Yeah, Jen, how dirty is your house if its just you??? Granted, animals can make a place pretty hairy, but seriously. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats in my house... eek, good thing you don't live near me.

Hi August!! Don't you hate it when you stress out about being late and it turns out you're early anyway? Happens to me all the time (1/2 the time, I am actually late though.) }( The adventures of Choco Raisin.... I see a new comic book coming to life. Oh, how fun. We could each take turn writing his adventures.

Diane - Can't wait to hear about the relatives' reactions... come on! Spill the beans soon.

Terri - those recipes look yummmy! I have some lonely sweet potatoes in my cupboard that I should probably pay some attention to.

I think money's about to be a little looser for me, so I think I might go cardio shopping (shopping for cardio workouts that is), next month.

What are guys all doing for V-day? I'm so lame, I can never think of anything good.

OK, time to go find some grub. This beer is threatening to go to my head if I don't. Have a fabulous Saturday night girls!!
