HATE - Cardio? What's That? - Apr 9

August

Cathlete
Hey there, http://bestsmileys.com/bubble/1.gif

Sorry I didn't come by yesterday. I've been very busy researching cat food LOL. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/gen063.gif

I've been reading about dry food and how they take their toll after time....why I didn't come across this info when I was researching BEFORE I got the squirrels, I don't know, but, I'm thinking to try to reduce my guys' dry intake.

I tried only giving wet this morning and Cham wasn't pleased about it. In fact, I guess all the monsters weren't thrilled (although yesterday they didn't seem to mind - of course yesterday when it went really well, I thought, "What's the problem? This is a breeze!").

Cham just spent the last ten minutes chomping down on kibble.

It sort of reminds me of when I was counting calories and loading up on treat day LOL. In other words, I'm starting to wonder if this is teaching them to binge. Hmm.

Do you guys feed all wet or all dry or a combo?

What?

You wanted to know about a workout? I didn't sleep much last night, so I'm taking the day off.

Besides, it's leg day. http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/7.gif

ROBIN - That standing machine sounds like great! It sounds like it would be good for watching TV and taking naps without having to worry about getting a neck cramp. I hope it will do great things for Greyor.

How long do you have to take that rash medicine?

MICHELE - Thanks for starting the thread yesterday! I know how much you hate it. And I'm so glad to hear that your back is doing better.

That video of Jack LaLanne was incredible. Though it's depressing to find out that the secret to a long, healthy, vivacious life is not donuts and chocolate. http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/6.gif

> (I just posted this in the OD forum...in a thread that somebody else started ).

LOL.

HEY. Don't make us yell at you about your meds, young woman.

>I emailed Coach Sean and asked for his opinion about using the vest during elliptical workouts and he answered me back!!

Woo hoo! http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/3.gif

When I saw that blog photo you put up, my first thought was, "What are they standing on?" Oh man.

SHANNON -

>I'm not a Hater. I feel funny starting this thread.

But you did it so well before! Have confidence! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/characters/character0028.gif LOL.

>I guess I'd better not say anything else. Because the only thing I have to say is cardio-related, and I'm pretty excited about it. I'll hush.

LOL.

> I did AIR JACKS! And plyo jacks, and hop turns, and power runs, and jump rope around the world...

http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sick/sick0012.gif

DANA - Ooh, Merrick and Timberwolf. Those are both supposed to be super good!

OMG, you guys, I thought I was the only one playing BOOKWORM! LOL! Really! I love the way it sounds when the worm eats the words. Not that that's the reason I play it. http://bestsmileys.com/geek/1.gif

JENNIFER - Glad to hear you got the workouts you wanted....or, ended up wanting! When will you be trying them out? http://bestsmileys.com/excited/3.gif

Okay, I'm off to put clothing on and do my thing!

Laters! :*

Hello Haters.

Last night was MM before the rain, cold, and thunderstorms. Plus, my great hunters, Seville and Madrid were in action last night. I was awokened by little screaching noise of a poor mouse or two that became part of a midnight snack. So, this morning, I got to search for the remains of any critter and didn't find anything. :) :)

Tonight, it will be core max#3 with Low Max. And, hoping to do HCE on Sunday or Sat.. Slowly getting motivated to working out.

Fortunately, the snow predicted this week has turned to rain. My yard is green, the birds are out, so are the rabbits and squirrels, and the mice thinking my house might be a retreat from the cold.

Yeah!! For Allie and Kelli for beating the guys on The Biggest Loser!!

Mornin' http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/mornincoffee.gif

Let me get this out of the way first thing...I didn't do any cardio yesterday. There -- I said it. HowEVER, I did do a segment from Classical Stretch which is more what I needed. I've actually been doing lots of cardio lately and probably needed the day off. I just wasn't feeling it, ya know what I mean? http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/gen162.gif

Today is a cardio day http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/gen137.gif

I only got about 2 hours of sleep last night and I'm wiped out -- so I might not do that workout after all http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/sleep024.gif

AUGIE -- I feed Johnny canned food -- no dry at all. I used to give him dry but urine tests indicated dehydration and other signs that could lead to stones, etc. Since he has a history of forming bladder stones I had no choice but to put him on canned food. Fortunately he LOVES it! I mix it with a dollop of pureed pumpkin and some water and he scarfs it down. I have his urine checked every 6 months, and since I went to canned food he's been in perfect urinary health.

According to my vet, cats on a dry food diet tend to be inadequately hydrated which can lead to kidney/urinary problems. Supposedly, canned food contains a full days requirement of water. I don't know if I believe that, so I add water to his food -- just about a couple of tbsps. My vet seems to feel that even the pH of food doesn't matter so much as making sure there's enough water in it. He's totally fixated on making sure cats get enough water.

Maybe you can try mixing wet and dry foods for now, then gradually wean them off the dry. You could always have routine checks of their urine to look for any signs of trouble. At this point I wouldn't be terribly worried about it. What does your vet think about it?

Oh crap -- my tree service people just pulled in the driveway. I'll BBL :*

Mornin' Haters!

What's this about dehydrated cats? You all will just probably fall over when you hear about my kitty. She's an outside cat and has been her whole life. She didn't even want to come in when it snowed and sleeted this winter. The only thing she ever eats is dry food, and not even a high-end brand. Oh, I take that back. She supplements her diet with birds, mice, lizards, and an occasional snake. She caught a baby rabbit once, too. She's old... maybe 12 or 13 years? Actually, I don't know for sure. The only time she's been to the vet was after my parents' dogs attacked her. She had some broken ribs and internal damage, but she survived! She's a very good kitty and very healthy, too. :7

Augie - glad to have you back! I really would have started the thread today. I promise. But I had plans... }(

Jennifer - Hi! I saw you in the Melters thread already!

Cuz - Oh sure. Today is cardio day. ;) I'm glad you did CS yesterday and gave your bod what it needed.

Yesterday I did some upper body work... Augie's favorite! Today is cardio. Cuz... will you join me? :p I'm supposed to do CC 6. But I'll admit that I'm have a very strong urge to do Imax 2.

Hi haters.

Michele - for some reason, when I was driving home from work yesterday I was thinking to myself "why on earth would Michele want to wear that vest on the eli when she really isn't lifting anything". First, why the heck would that pop into my head??? and Second, I'm glad that Coach Sean told you not too. HA! I saw the pic you posted yesterday from the blog - yuck!!!!

August - I love the noise that the worm makes on Bookworm too. Gannon was sitting on my lap on Saturday night while I was playing and he gets hysterical laughing when the worm burps, then he mocks the worm. Ya know, when I told you that my kitty Malachi had that blocked bladder which caused me to have him put down and it was all due to the high ash content in the food I was givin him, it was dry food I was giving him. So I think you're smart in researching this. Ralphie gobbled down his new food, Cowboy Cookout.

Shannon - you & your cardio!!! LOL Enjoy IMAX 2.

Jennifer - I'm glad that things are calm and quiet on your end.

I'm in a funk again - I was doing great with the 4DS but I haven't worked out in like 3 weeks. Last night I was busy with the usual and then it was so nice out that I had the kids outside, then I had to give Ralphie a bath b/c he stunk so bad and of course, I had to clean the entire bathroom b/c he sheds like mad. Tonight is baseball and CCD. I did set the alarm for 4:15 but shut it off.

I'll try to check back in later. Have a good day!

OK, I hate not being able to do cardio. Or lift. Or nuthin. These doggone anti-viral drugs make me dizzy and sooooo tired. I've decided to not workout until they are all gone. I think I have a day and a half left of them.

Dana, sorry to hear your are in a workout funk. Did you order STS? Not me. It's so hard to keep a routine up when you have active kids. I remember hiring the girl across the street to babysit for an hour in the afternoon so I could run.

Shannon, my neighbor had a cat like that. She lived outside and was as tough as nails. I haven't seen her lately though. Maybe she didn't make it through the winter. I think she was 12-14.

August, I give my cats canned food in the morning and leave a bowl of dry out during the day. Only the big fat one seems to munch. The skinny one likes to hang around at dinner time though. DH will get him his own plate and cuts whatever meat we are having into teeny tiny pieces, just the way Frank likes them. Frank is happy to hear we are having salmon for dinner tonight.

Michele, was your lack of sleep due to DH's snoring? Or something else. At least I've been sleeping pretty well since I've been sick. In fact, I think maybe a nap would be a good idea now, since DD and DGS and snoozing.

Hiya~

I'm sorry I haven't made it back here before now. I'm plum tired http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/sleep024.gif

Yes, DH was snoring BIG TIME last night -- that, and he kept having these crazy dreams that would wake him up, so of course he had to wake me up too x(

I'll be back tomorrow when I'm feeling a little more rested and sociable :*

P.S. Robin -- I just saw where the antiviral is making you feel crappy. I'm sorry :* . thank goodness you only have a few doses left. I hope the side effects wear off ASAP!

Hi Dana, and Cuz!! Hello to Jen and Jennifer, and Augie too. Now I'm really leaving. :p :*

Hey haters... just wanted to say hello. I've been MIA the last couple days in bed w/ an infection...I personally think it's kidney as my back ache I seemed to have has also left since being on this med. Anyway, was in bed all day Mon & Tues. Back to work today feeling a little better.

Did Tone It Up & 10 min butt shaper tonight.

Oh, and BIG MIX-UP on KITTY!!!! :D The neighbors cat is a 7 year old male cat- Rita talked to them today. As I was driving home tonight I see what looks like a 7 year old ALL WHITE cat in their yard with what I would call a red collar...UGH!!! So, I guess kitty is homeless so now to catch her & get her to the vet & fixed. I tried carrying her in the garage twice already this evening & have two HUGE scrathes from her. :-( Oh, well she is worth it & we're to have BAD storms tonight, wind, hail, etc...
