HATE CARDIO, 7/30

Miss Lee

Cathlete
Hey hey haters!!

I'm lonely in here all by myself! Y'all must've been busy over the weekend. I had a terrible weekend. It's a long story, but you may remember my mentioning that we had damily visiting from Pittsburgh. Well, my BIL and SIL left their 2 son's with my MIL and FIL while they went to the MMGHH for a few days. The problem is, one of my nephews is autistic and he had a little bit of a meltdown so we had to go over there and help out.

Here's what bothers me about this whole scenario -- my MIL has had 3 hospitalizations in the past 14 months, including surgery and a heart attack, and my FIL can barely walk. My BIL didn't have any business leaving an autistic child with them -- he's a BIG, strong 11 year old, and he can really be a handful. We had plans for the weekend which we had to cancel in order to watch these kids. It's not that we don't want to help, we'd just like fair warning (because everyone KNOWS that DH and I will have to watch them). I'm half mad at my MIL because she agreed to watch them (without asking my FIL how he felt about it -- and he didn't like it!), knowing full well she can't manage without help.

I could strangle my BIL. He should've known better -- he's a doctor, for crying out loud! They have a tendency to make last minute plans making it difficult to line up child care. This isn't the first time this has happened, either. I could go on and on but I'll spare you from further details. I'm sure you'll thank me:p :7

I was supposed to do CC PP Saturday but I never got around to it because of all the drama. I wanted to do a make up workout on sunday but I couldn't work it in. I HAVE to do it today! I need a workout BAAAAAAD!

Dana -- I got your email:*

August, Diane, Robin, Shelley, Becky, Jen, Jennifer, EVERYONE -- what did you do over the weekend and what are your plans today? I'll BBL:* :* :*

Sorry I have been MIA, i haven't been feeling well lately.

I had a doctor's appt on Friday. Turns out I had high blood pressure. They measured it a couple of times and it was high, then had me lay on my left side for 5 minutes and tested again and it was lower. They just said to stay off my feet when I am at home and rest on my left side as much as I can, but I am still full time at work. But no exercise for now. I don't really get it because my blood pressure is high all day long then it is lower at night when I get home - but isn't it bad for it to be high all day? I checked it again this morning and it was still high - 145/100. I laid down on my left side and it went down - 106/65. That seems like a huge difference. But I didn't have protein in my urine or any other symptoms of preeclampsia, so I guess they are just watching it for now. I just concerns me that I walk around all day with high blood pressure. I put a call in to the nurse today just to check to make sure it is not harmful to the baby for me to have high bp all day and to tell her about my bp reading this morning.

I also had my 2nd baby shower this weekend in San Antonio. It went well and I got a ton of great stuff. My mom secretly sent pictures of my baby bedding fabrics (which has dots in it and I LOVE dots) and the whole shower theme was coordinated with my bedding and there were lots of dots in all the decorations! I will post some pictures once my mom sends them to me.

Hi Diane! OMG I'm sorry to hear about your BP. I'm glad you put a call in to the nurse. Even though I'm a nurse, I really don't know anything about OB so I hesitate to offer an opinion. In general, BP tends to run higher in the morning for everyone. I don't remember anymore why that is, but it's not at all unusual for a BP to be higher in the morning and lower in the evening -- but 145/100 is reason enough to call the doctor. Preeclampsia is scary business so it's great that you're checking your BP at home.

I'm really excited to see pics of your shower gifts! Have you figured out your iMac yet? A new Mac store just opened up right down the road from my house and I plan to stop in there one day this week. Our computer is really giving us fits but we want to hold off for as long as possible before buying a new one. We need to replace some flooring in a couple of rooms and I want to take care of that first.

Please let us know what the nurse says about your BP. I'll keep you in my prayers.:*

Michele - My bp at the doctor's office last week was 140/100 then went down to 120/70 after laying down. And that was in the afternoon. It is usually more like 100/60 and has been this whole pregnancy until now. I read that bp naturally goes up around the 7 month (now) but that this is still way too high. I don't want to necessarily go on bedrest, that would be horrible, but it would be nice to be able to work from home so that I can take breaks and lay down during the day.

Diane, if it's at all possible I would strongly encourage you to work from home. You'll be more comfortable and then you can stop and rest whenever you need to.

Hey!!!

Diane - sorry to hear about your bp. You take it easy!!!!

Michele - eek, what a weekend. Why in the world would you MIL agree to watch the kids knowing she can't give 100% and what would your BIL ask her in the first place???? Bet your glad the weekend is over right?

I am swamped here at work. I'm driving in this morning mentally going over what I have to do (like I do every morning) and to my surpise the supplies that I had to order for the school nurses (we have 6 of them) came in and I could barely get to my desk. So I've been working on going through all these boxes. YUK!!!! So now I'll be behind more due to this crapola!!!!!!

I'd love to chat but I've got 15 minutes til lunch is up and I've got bills to write out and balance my checkbook!

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Awwwww! I love the cake with the baby's initials, and that diaper cake is so cute! But those roses -- that is a stunning bouquet!! So what all did you get? Details, we want details -- lol!

Hi Dana! It sounds like you're totally swamped again. I hope your schedule slows down once school starts -- LMAO!

Oh my gosh I got so much stuff it was incredible. The shower went over a little bit b/c there were so many presents to open (and games).

I got my stroller (my mom got my travel system for me, which is the stroller and car seat combo that match - she gave me the car seat at the last shower and the stroller at this shower, along with some other little gifts), baby papasan swing, baby papasan bouncy seat, bumbo seat, boppy pillow, shopping cart cover, bottle warmer, pottery barn kids lamp and mobile (too bad the mobile didn't fit our crib it was so cute), lots of cute hooded towels and washclothes, lots of clothes and blankets, several different baskets of useful stuff (like nail clippers and baby wash and stuff like that) and some toys.

Oh and there were some cute games and activities. When everyone walked into the shower, they were asked to write baby advice on a little card. Some of them were really sweet. They were also asked to write a funny message on a diaper, so that I could have a little laugh when I change Ella's diaper. People wrote some funny stuff. Then we did a game where people guess how many sheets of toilet paper it took to wrap around my belly. I ended up guessing perfectly right - 10 squares. But everyone else guessed more than that!!! Some people guessed like 15 or 19 squares! They must think I am a house! We also did a game where they passed around basket of baby stuff - there were 20 different things in the bag and people wrote down all the things they could remember. Another game was a list of different animals and you write down what the name of the baby of that animal is called (cat = kitten; dog = puppy) but there were some really hard ones like eel and llama. Anyway, it was a fun shower, no family drama at this one.

Though the rest of the weekend was "interesting" to say the least. I think I have told y'all that my sister is getting divorced. It is not yet final, I think she just has to wait another couple months until it is finalized. Anyway, this weekend she brought home her new boyfriend!! It is a touchy subject, since I think this guy and her got together before the marriage ended if you know what I mean. So not only is he "the other man" but he is from Brazil and doesn't speak English very well. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with him, so I don't know how they have some deep meaningful relationship. Anyway, the went to business school together and he is looking for a job now in TX where my sister lives (so they are very serious) and if he doesn't find a job he will move back to Brazil. And they are talking about my sister moving to Brazil too. It is just nuts and my family is so not happy about it obviously. I don't know what she is doing, she is in some weird phase right now. She is 28 years old but seriously acts like she is 18 or 19 and is a freshman in college. So the weekend was very tense with the new boyfriend here, especially since the boyfriend didn't seem very interested in getting to know us or making a good impression. Anyway, so the rest of the weekend was not as fun as the shower itself.

OMG I can promise you that I never, EVER want to know how may sheets of TP it would take to go around my waist -- LMAO!! But really, 10 sheets doesn't seem like very much;) . You look GREAT -- you really do!

It sounds like you've gotten some really nice gifts. What else do you want/need?

Does everyone like the name you've picked out? I just love it.

Your sister is scaring me. I'd be very suspicious of this guy. Does he need her to gain citizenship or something like that? What do you suppose is going on? Damily! What're ya gonna do? I've lost tons of sleep over various of my damily members. You would be horrified by the antics of my 20 something niece -- she's a total nightmare. And my sister's marriage is about to end, I'm afraid. Her DH is such a schmuck -- I really can't stand him, but I worry about my sister. She's 50 years old, been married to the same jerk...er...guy for over 26 years, and she has MS. This whole thing has been a terrible strain on her.

You'll never guess what book I'm reading. The Complete Beatrix Potter:+ . I was looking through the cable On Demand movies last night when I came across "Miss Potter". I had never heard of it and at first I thought it had something to do with Harry Potter -- lol! I'm sure it was never shown in a cinema around here. It looks like it may have gone straight to DVD.

Anyway, it was about Beatrix Potter with Renee Zellweger in the title role and it was such a sweet movie. It could've been better -- Beatrix was an amazing woman for her time, but it was just sweet and a real, feel good movie. After watching it I remembered that I had purchased her complete tales years ago so I dug it out and started to read it. The drawings are so precious. I love it -- it's just good, old fashioned story telling.

Michele - My mom and I have talked to my sister several times about all of this in the nicest way possible but it doesn't seem to help really. All she seems to care about right now is being "cool" and apparently her pregnant little sister doesn't know what is cool. And sadly, the guy she is divorcing was a nice guy and they didn't have any major problems or anything. She did a 180 change in her personality and decided she wanted to be young and fun again and he wanted a family life. I am also worried about her money situation. She didn't get much from the divorce, but she has a great job now making great money. However, she spends it all and doesn't pay her bills. Her ex took care of paying all the bills before and tried to limit her spending habits, but now that she is alone she is spending like crazy on stupid extravagent stuff and then having to borrow money from my parents to pay her bills. I sat down with her and made a budget for her (at her request) but she has overspent in every category and therefore can't pay her bills. Even though she makes a lot of money! I am just so worried about her but she doesn't seem to think there is any problem right now.

And DH's mom came to the shower this weekend and saw my sister for the first time since DH's and my wedding. We didn't really tell her what was going on, but she was SHOCKED at how my sister was acting. She said she reminded her of a teeny boppy girl, in her actions and her appearance.

Gosh, Diane, it doesn't sound like there's anything more you can do for your sister. I hope she comes to her senses before she finds herself in serious trouble, financial and otherwise. I'll keep her in my prayers. Is she an attorney, too?

Michele - Nope, she is not an attorney. She does marketing for a large company.

So I called the nurse this morning since I had a bp reading of 145/100 this morning. She finally called back and said my doctor and my regular nurse are out for the week on vacation. But she made an appointment for me to come in tomorrow and see another doctor and maybe do a 24 hr urine test. She said this other doctor is really careful and likes to do tests to rule things out so I think it will make me feel a lot better if I am sure that I am not on the road to preeclampsia. It just worries me that I am up all day and probably have high bp all day and that is not good for the baby. Not that I want to lay on my left side for the remainder of the pregnancy, but I don't want to harm by baby either. So I should have another appointment tomorrow to recheck my bp and just reevaluate. If this doctor tells me the same - just to go to work but relax when I get home - then I will stop worrying about it. But I just felt like I wasn't given a good direction of where this could be headed and how big of a problem this is. I think my doctor had a patient in labor when I saw her (she kept getting pages and having to leave the room) so even though she was trying to pay attention, I didn't feel like I had her full attention and the nurses were the ones that told me what I could and could not do (and didn't seem to know what they were talking about).

Diane, I'm glad you're having a 24 hr urine. I like the idea that you're seeing a different doctor, too -- not that I think your doctor did anything wrong, but just because it's good to have a fresh viewpoint once in awhile. It must be disquieting when you want your doctors rapt attention and they're preoccupied with someone/thing else.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and offer a prayer that everything is alright. Please let us know how it goes.

ETA can you monitor your BP at work? It might be a good idea to do that if you can.

Yes I can monitor it at work, and I was planning on doing that today but forgot to bring the monitor. We are borrowing DH's dad wrist bp monitor. It works pretty well and seems pretty accurate.

Hello Everyone.

Michele-That is horrible what is happening. Being a physician's daughter myself, your BIL knows better than that. That is NOT right at all.

Diane-Great baby shower pictures.

This past weekend, my Lillies of the Valley got transplanted and took. Now, they're being watered. Went to the Pig Roast, and my new acquintance wasn't there but he's got two kids in college and two moved out. Next weekend, the new porch overhang is built. The following weekend is a field day for school south of town and my company is one of the sponsors for it. Then, taking a break from the house for one weekend then back at it on August 18th.

Jennifer

Wow, where have all the haters gone???

Shelley?? Robin?? August?? Becky?? Jana?? HELLO....

Hope everyone is going alright and just busy but...

AUGUST, I NEED A KITTY UPDATE!!!!x(

Michelle - So sorry about your weekend, you are such a good DIL!!! I hope your DH realizes that but something tells me he does and lets you know that!! :) My "issue" I thought was getting better, seemed to from Thurs-Sat evening but then yesterday & today is back to how it was before. Still trying to figure it out & driving me crazy but I feel okay & energy is good so hoping it is just nothing!

Diane- Love the pictures, thank you so much for sharing. Take care of you & that baby and if the doctor says you need to stay off your feet more maybe you can talk to work & work from home 2-3 days a week for a while & see how that goes? Sorry about your sister, that does sound like she is going through a phase. I am 30 & don't remember a phase like that but I also haven't been married, in a few really long relationships but not married so maybe she feels like she didn't get to experience life enough, was she married real young? Hopefully she'll figure things out soon and get back on track with everything and nothing bad will happen, with this guy or with too much debt if she doesn't stop spending like crazy! I'm praying "the phase" doesn't last too long for her.

Dana- So all the filing is done & you are still buried in work?? I think they need to hire someone to help you! :) How is the DH, boys, and doggie doing?

Okay haters, I am going to snoop around a little and then pay a few bills and try to get Storm inside, I am tired tonight. I did Powerstrike 1 and Burn It Up Saturday and Drill Max & Reach yesterday, tonight was Firm It Up, not sure about tomorrow yet...thinking either the other Powerstrike or HSTA or maybe 32 min premix from HSC & bun shaper...all three will get done before Friday just not sure what/when! Later!
