August

Cathlete
Gooooood sweaty morning!

My friends are now on the airplane. We had a great time walking around here and there during Japan's hottest summer in 48 years LOL. Not joking.

And now I must take a moment to write out that I just had a really heart-warming squirrel happening.

After having played together with feather teasers and having a good ol' time, Mooch and Cham started wrestling as usual, and Yoyo and Lulu were just tuckering out, so I went over to my computer....when all of a sudden, Cham started screaming at the top of her lungs! She's normally very vocal, and always playfully screams, but this time was totally different.

Mooch was on top of her with a "what's the problem?" face, so I assumed that he was just playing too rough, so I quickly went over to get him off of her, when I noticed that Cham's foot had gotten wound up in one of the dangling toys that hangs from the crinkle tunnel I recently got them. I think she was more scared than anything, but she was absolutely frantic to get her tangled foot loose.

She was screaming and flailing about in desperation, scratching and biting at my arms as I tried to untangle her - I was so focused on quickly and calmly getting her tiny footsy out I wasn't thinking about my bare skin.......and finally she broke free and ran to the other room.

I was so relieved to get her free.....and then I realized something. My arms were completely unscathed!

She'd been scratching and biting out of panic, but not at all using her claws (that I haven't had time to clip this week) and not biting down hard with her teeth. I was dumbfounded! Sweet Cham Cham!

I found her sulking in the other room, so I knelt down to pet her some.....and then, more tear-jerking! Each of the three squirrels one by one came over to see if Cham was okay! I kid you not! It could have been an after-school TV special. They all came over and touched their nosies to Cham's nosie and looked up at me to make sure all was good...and I was just so moved and was just ready to cry! http://bestsmileys.com/crying/4.gif http://bestsmileys.com/love2/3.gif

I'm so glad I could write about this heartwarming story, because I was getting ready to tell you how I finally had some time to brush them this afternoon, made a small fur ball from all four of their loose fur, and just as I was going to throw it in the garbage,....Mooch promptly ate it LMAO.

MICHELE - I hope you and your DH are having some really nice off-time together!

ARISTA - Did you have a fun birthday? Pancakes and sausage, woo hoo!

JENNIFER - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news with the resume!

JEN - Girl, you get sick too often. We worry! Are you feeling better?

ROBIN - That's really great that you found a place for your mother that you yourself would like to live. That sounds wonderful. Your mother can be comfortable and not worry, and certainly she'll be able to make some new friends and do tons of new stuff.

DANA - Your kitty story was amazing! I would so be the owner of five new kitties LMAO. Did they come back for more food? Taking care of four kittens has really been a lot of work - which I absolutely love and would do again in a second - but I'm afraid that I'm not giving each one of them the interactive playtime and tummy rubs that they deserve. 53 cats. Well, it's a place to sleep and eat, I suppose, which can be better than roaming around on the streets with nothing...

Ooh, I love opossums! I think they're totally cute! I know you guys aren't surprised.

We had a pet door for our cats when I was growing up. It was really great. Our three could come and go as they pleased and they just loved it. There were only a few times when I'd wake up and get some breakfast to find a totally unrelated cat hanging out in the house LMAO. The cat would be roaming around the house with a quizzical look but kind of trying to walk with an attitude like "uh, yeah, I like, totally know where I am, uh...how do I get out of here?"

Hi, Shelley, Hi, Diane, Hi, Janjan, Hi, everybody else!

All right. I suppose I should do something here.

I'll check back with you laters!

ETA : That danging thing is now cut off and in the garbage. :)

Good morning!!

{{{{{August}}}}}[/font/] What a scary ordeal with poor Cham ;( . I wonder how that happened? Was it wrapped around her paw several times or something? What was the cord made of -- string, plastic? Well, it's a darn good thing you were there when it happened. Maybe you should return the toy and file a complaint.

>It could have been an after-school TV special.

LMAO!!! I'd watch it!

>I finally had some time to brush them this afternoon, made a small fur ball from all four of their loose fur, and just as I was going to throw it in the garbage,....Mooch promptly ate it LMAO.

LMAO again!

I'm so glad you had a nice visit with your friends, despite the heat. Did y'all do the bullet walk, or did you have to slow down for them -- lol! Are you back in you own place now? If not, you should take your mom's kitties to your place so they can get used to it.

Here's another hug for good measure -- {{{{{August}}}}} :*

Jen - OMG! You did Drill Max and B&G in the same day and only ate a protein bar for dinner? Sweetie pie, that's not healthy. You need to nourish and replenish your body with real food. I don't mean to be preachy, but I worry about you, Jen, I really do;)

Jennifer - I'm envious of your rain. We've had rain in the forecast for days but it hasn't rained yet and everything outside is dry, brown and shriveled up;(

My weekend was nice. DH and I went out to eat Saturday night, and again for brunch on Sunday, then he cooked dinner last night on the grill. We wanted to go to a movie but we couldn't find one that appealed to us. I did some reading (I'm still trying to wade through that damn book Robin recommended -- LMAO!).

My brother and SIL stopped by for a couple of hours Saturday evening ...I mean    . They haven't been here in years. Their DD recently moved to a town near me and they were down this way to help so they dropped in on their way home. We had a very nice visit. I feel sorry for them -- their DD is a complete train wreck:eek: ;( x(

I haven't organized my day yet so I have no clue what I'm doing. I probably better sign off for now and get something going around here. I'll BBL, though:*

Hello to the rest a youse :) :* :* :*

Hey hater dudettes!

Sorry I haven't been around. I wasn't on the computer much on the weekend. Sophie was sick Saturday morning - mmmmmmmmmm.... puking :p Then we did a lot of BTS shopping, went to a fair, visited my sister, etc.

August - oh my! What a scary story! Poor little Cham Cham! I'm glad you were there and able to save the poor little mite! And how adorable that all the others came over to check on him! Wait... is Cham a him?

Michele - We're hoping for rain too. Everything is just dying of thirst here. Sounds like you had a nice weekend with your DH. Is the niece the one you've talked about before?

Jen - you did B&G and Drillmax and only ate a protein bar? I'm worried about you too! For all the workouts that you do, your body needs more fuel than that!

Dana - I read your kitten story! Did they come back? And ewww about the 53 cats. That's just vile.

Robin - I'm glad you made it back from VT safe and sound and that you found a nice place for your mom. Are you looking forward to Watkins Glen? I hope nobody falls out of any of the cars this time!

Arista - happy belated birthday! Sorry I missed it! Did you have cake?

Hi to everyone else too! *waves wildly*

Hopefully I can be around more this week. It should be quiet here today, just me and the big boss and he rarely comes out of his office.

Hey Shellers! Did you get all your BTS shopping done? Oh man, I can't believe how fast this summer has passed us by. My DS started back to school today (she's a 5th grade teacher). She was really dreading it, too. He building isn't air conditioned:eek: ;( .

Oh yeah, I'm talking about the same niece I've mentioned before -- she's the one and only niece I have. She's breaking all of our hearts:-( . She's chosen a hard life for herself and I don't see any way for her to come out on top. She's into a lot of bad stuff;) ;( :-(

I bought Johnny some bubbles this weekend. They're scented with catnip and the bubbles are somehow stronger and more burst resistant than the bubbles for human children. I was hoping Mr. J would really enjoy them but I think the bubbles are hard for him to see. He kind of got tired of them:-( . He's in need of a new, fun toy so it;s back to the drawing board.

Hello! Diane, Dana, Robin, Arista, Jennifer, et al.:*

Hi everyone -

August - That is a scary story about your kitty. Something similar has happened several times with our kittens. One time Sadie was playing with a paper bag from the grocery store and got her paw caught in the handle (their favorite toys of course are the free ones - like paper bags, boxes and their favorite toy of ALL TIME is the drawstring that came from one of my pajama pants, they love that more than any dangle toy we bought them). She ran around the house crying and frantic for a few minutes with the bag dragging behind her until we were finally able to catch her. I am surprised she didn't pee herself she was so scared.

I had a baby shower with friends from work this weekend. It was very nice and I got some great gifts. I got the baby monitor that I wanted, which is nice. It monitors sound AND movement. It can detect the slightest movement, so if your baby stops breathing for more than a few seconds, an alarm will sound. That will bring me a lot of comfort now with all of the scary reports about SIDS out there. I also got some really cute clothes, activity mat, a blanket, some nursery decorations from pottery barn kids, and books. Also, one of the secretaries in the group makes diaper bags and other baby items. They had a diaper bag, burp clothes and a wipes cover made out of the same fabrics of my bedding!! I was so surprised. I will have to take some pictures to show you.

My friend took some pictures of the shower so I will post some when she sends them to me. So now I have one last shower next weekend with people at church. It will be right after class and will be co-ed, so that will be fun. There is supposedly going to be some competitive games with the men and women, so should be interesting.

Hi Haters.

August, I'm glad Cham was OK and amazed that you weren't scratched. She sounds like such a sweetie pie. My niece has an absolute neurotic cat named Maggie. One day Maggie was playing in a plastic grocery bag, when the handle got stuck over her head. She decided it was something evil that was chasing her and started to run around the livingroom. Of course, the bag went with her, so she started to run faster. The bag went with her, so she started to run faster. The bag went with her, so she started to run faster. You get the picture. Everyone was laughing so hard, no one could catch her or the bag. She'd still be running if the handle hadn't finally ripped.

Michele, you mean you aren't loving that book? I though it was great the way everything fit together.

Dana, all those cats! Gross. When we had 4, it was 2 too many.

Diane, a co-ed shower? We tried that for a girl here at work, but all the guys in the department chickened out. The gifts sound wonderful.

Shelley, yes, I am looking forward to Watkins Glen. This year another couple will be joining us for the road rally and driver's events we do every year. He is the dude that did all the hot rodding work on DH's car. I'm with you in hoping no one gets run over this year. It will be interesting to see if they change anything due to last years accident. And this year, if DH wants to drive on the real race track, he will have to do it without me. It was just too scary.

Hello my wonderful haters! Late check-in for me, I've been busy this evening. I did Burn It Up tonight, for it being one of the original Slim in 6 workouts & not part of the Slim Series, it sure does get my heart rate up more than a few of the slim series. I never did get the original slim in 6 but read reviews that Burn It Up was good for the lower body & abs so I got it off amazon for like $10 & it is worth it, need to remember to do that one more often!

For those of you worried about my eating, don't be- I am taking in enough calories, I am keeping track. I eat about 1500-1800/day depending on the day, it's just fruit, protein bars, la tortilla factory wraps w/ fat free butter(snack),& kashi cereal has been added. I also force myself to eat a south beach wrap for lunch during the week.

Oh, and I found a really neat store on-line while I was searching for some new skirts. www.skirtspot.com, they custom make them & change the patterns I guess quite often from the sounds of it. I had e-mailed them earlier to ask some questions & had an e-mail back within the hour. Even though they custom make them they do accept returns for full refund within 30 days from order & will e-mail you the shipping label to print so you don't have to take to post office- is a $5 fee deducted from return amount but worth it to me but they also do give you the option of paying to have it returned yourself & then give a full refund. Anyway, they have some really cute skirts!

Okay, sorry for the self centered post- I will be back tomorrow night! :*
