Has anyone tried...

I was flipping through my current issue of Oxygen Mag (Jan 2007), and was scanning the Nutrition, Just Desserts page. They mentioned that Larabar & Jarbar were very good choices for a snack.
Has anyone tried these? Are they as good as it states they are?
Looking onto the Larabar.com site, I was looking at the Nutrition facts and it seems to have a lot of sugar and hardly any protein at all...while in the mag, it states, "no sugar." ??

What are your fave snack bars/protein??

~Thanks so much~

Jenn, if you look at the list of ingredients in a Larabar you will see that all of the sugar comes from fruit. Larabars are made from fruits and nuts, and some contain cocoa powder and spices like cinnamon and chili. There is no added sugar so they make for a healthy and nutritious snack. HTH:)

I bought a box from Costco with 18 bars in it for $18.. it had 3 flavors.. apple pie, chocolate coconut, and cherry pie.. on the website, they are a bit more expensive. I love these..:)

They also mention GNU foods bars that are fruit sweetened and each have 12 gm of fiber. I love the Orange Cranberry and the Chocolate Brownie (for only 130 cal each, YUM!) I have tried Larabars before, but not enough to stick with them. I haven't heard of Jarbars, though.

I haven't tried (or even seen) the Jarbar, but I Love Larabars. My favorites are the cherry pie and pecan pie (though I don't think there's a Larabar I've met that I haven't liked!).

Other bars I like: Vega (10 gm. protein, all raw, based on hemp which is a very assimilable type of protein, it may be an acquired taste, but ther are three flavors to choose from); Macapower (mostly raw, if not all, and containing maca and hemp).

I don't believe in taking bars or beverages with massive amounts of protein (that have to be from isolated or concentrated protein sources in order to pack much in a small amount) but rather getting moderate protein from natural and whole foods sources.
