Has anyone tried Bar Method?

Hi Everone,
Back from a computer failure.... That is another topic. LOL
I was reading an interesting interview from Burr Leonard
www.naturaljourneys.com/burrLeonard.html
What peaked my interest was a comment about Yoga pushing your abs out whereas the Bar Method gave you more slender abs.

I have the new DVD's and have used them 3 times now. Not enough to say "hey, what model perfect abs I have." LOL I love these workouts though. They really work the quads, thigh and hamstrings. A great tack on after Cathe turns your legs into rubber. hahaha Interesting ab move. You push your abs in very hard with each exhale.

Have you tried Bar Method yet and what is your spin on these, Yoga and Pilates?

I have these DVD's but never tried them, they got pushed aside when I received the BB's! Anyway, I've heard great things about them and I plan on fitting them into a rotation real soon. As far as the comment she made about yoga pushing your abs out, I have to take that one with a grain of salt. It kind of upsets me that she would make a comment like that just to push her own workouts. I've been doing yoga for several years and my abs are flat. And the yoga instructors I follow all have washboard abs. If you do ab work incorrectly, of course you can develop protruding abs. But, you could also get protruding abs from doing the Bar Method, Lotte Berk, even Cathe incorrectly!

I would never give up my yoga practice because it has given me incredible core strength, flexibility and improved posture. I like Lotte too, for the same reason. I hardly ever do pilates because I find it too boring!

Hi Leslie,
Yes, I wondered about that comment as well. I do some yoga and I can't see how you'd get the protruding stomach unless as you say, you do the moves incorrectly. The Warrior 3 and the full triangle has given me more flexibility in my legs. Took a long time to get there and I wasn't about to give that up.}(
I'm supposed to do Pilates to relax as per doctor's orders. But finding the right Pilates has been a challenge. Like you say, some have been terribly boring. I do like Jennifer Kries' Total Body Precision, I think it's called. It is the one where you have 15 min of everything. Some I have found down right comical.

My legs are still sore from doing the Bar Method today...but....I might add I did a 75min Premix of Super Sets as well....}( Brute for torture...eh? :p

I'm trying to figure out the concept of forcing your abs in with each breath....the why it would work type thing?
