Hi!
I've done a major flip-flop in workout emphasis.
I was an original Firmie until I found greener pastures. I absolutely hated cardio and barely tolerated the cardio portions of the workouts. I loved the weight work and found it fairly easy to build up to higher poundage--must be that dang Scottish ancestry (you know, stocky with calves any body builder would die for but you hate because your legs are so short). After working back up after my 3rd child, I increased my "heavy weights" to 15 lbs each. I never increased the weight after that because I hit a point where I was strong and defined and the workouts didn't become too easy like they always did when it was time to increase poundage. I have as much muscle as I ever care to, and really don't want to add any.
On the flip side, I discovered that cardio can be really fun when it's something other than "up-up, down-down" and marching in place--anyone who has the oldest Firms can relate to that. It was Super Cardio that got me hooked on cardio. I about died my first time through. I thought "I can't believe the Firm expects us to do this"--everytime you thought it surely had to be over, there was more. BUT I was actually having fun while wanting to croak. So I set out trying to increase my cardio capacity and expand my horizons. Which, of course, eventually led me to Cathe.
So far, Body Max is the only Cathe workout I have with weights. The first time I tried it, I thought the weight work would be a breeze--after all, weight work was easy for me, right? You'd think I would have learned from my initial major humility check when I first tried Cathe! Anyway, I made it through fairly well with the weight Cathe used until . . . .the bicep section! I still can't do crazy 8's all the way through!
So with that lengthy exposition, my question is this: Is there anyone who does Cathe primarily for the cardio instead of the weight work? I'm convinced that her workouts are the best. But, while I love pushing myself with cardio, I have no desire to push myself with weights right now. I don't want to lose what I have, and I make sure I get strength training 3x/week (Cathe or other), but I don't have that internal drive to increase. Has anyone out there had continued overall success without constantly working harder and increasing poundage?
Thanks!
Carol F
