Has anyone experienced a loss of balance?

About 2 weeks ago, I strained my neck and shoulder doing the band work in GS shoulders. I am generally sensitive in that area to begin with. I didn't think too much about it. I took over the counter anti-inflammatories but nothing seemed to be helping which is unusual for me. I went to a massage therapist and got only minor relief but I was still functional and could do some minor workouts. Last night I was doing GS biceps and something happened because I literally lost my balance and could not stand up. It seemed to subside as the night went on but when I woke up this morning, my balance was compromised. My osteopath was out of the office today but I saw someone who does craniosacral work. Unfortunately I was worse when I left his office but those affects dissipated somewhat. I came home and took 2 aleve to hopefully help at least a little bit with the strain. That didn't help my neck (but at least some of my other aches & pains got relief :) .) So I decided to do some stretching for my lower body to move a little bit. I held on to a support the entire time. Well, the room starting spinning and I had to plop myself on the floor. Although the spinning has stopped, my balance is worse than before. I am seeing my regular osteopath tomorrow but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I believe it is related to my neck/shoulder strain. Could it possibly be an inner ear infection even though my upper body workout precipitated the imbalance? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I used to work for a chiro and still get adjustments on occasion. You've pinched a nerve in your neck that is affecting the blood flow to your brain. Get thee to a chiropractor!:) It would lead to ear infection eventually but I doubt you have one yet. This is most definetly related to your neck/shoulder strain. Hope you get some relief - soon!

Kate, thank you! I know you're right. In fact, I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who experienced the same thing. In his case, C2 was pressing on an artery to the brain causing the symptoms. My osteopath should be able to correct this tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't take many visits. Thanks again for your response!

Hi Kate. I wanted to give you an update. My osteopath did an adjustment and I have much more mobility in my neck. The imbalance hasn't improved by much but he believes it will get corrected quickly. I'm seeing him again on Friday. I really should have seen him sooner but it seems all I do is go to practioners for one thing or another so I procrastinated. At least I didn't go to work for 2 whole days! }( :7 YEAH, YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Thanks for your interest.
