Has anyone discovered any new gems in their skincare regime?

I'm always interested in hearing what people are finding works for their skin. Right now I'm using Mychelle serums and moisturizer which I like, Patricia Wexler 3-in-1 eye cream and I'm trying a sample of Hyalogic Episilk FRS serum which I'm thinkin' I'm likin'! Olay and Garnier Nutrisse have been advertising some new skincare products and am interested in those. I'm looking for a good eye cream that moisturizes and works on dark circles and also products that tighten (yeah, I can dream) and diminish the deeper lines on the face. I like the products I'm currently using but I'd like to try something different when I finish those. I was in Sally's Beauty Supply store yesterday and they told me that people are liking Correctionist Correcting Creme and Multi Benefit Eye Creme and also Dermacitin Collagen Filler. Has anyone tried these? What's in your beauty cabinet that is currently working for you? Thanks for your input.

Olay Regenerist serum and the Microdermabrasion Kit. I had stopped using them for a bit and noticed a tremendous difference. Then put them back in my regimen and wow is all I can say. Even my aesthetician mentioned it when I got my last facial. Huge difference. Especially the microdermabrasion kit - inexpensive, easy and super-effective.
Other than that, I use all Origins skin care because I like more natural ingredients.

I switched from any sort of typical moisturizer and now use ye olde olive oil on my face and it's been wonderful.

Thanks ladies! I know Olay Regenerist has been popular here. They've now come out with new products that are supposed to be the "best ever", lol. I have the microdermabrasion kit but haven't used in awhile. Perhaps I will now. Thanks again.

Someone I work with said her dermatologist told her to get the new Olay stuff (I think it's called Rx). She got something in the line and loves it, but I'm not sure which item it was. Her dermatologist said it is the best "drugstore" product out there - beats the department store brands. I think they still average around $45 each, though.

What brand of microdermabrasion do you all use? I'm using the Olay Regenerist Cream, and so far haven't noticed any difference, which kind of bums me out. How long do you think it should take to see results?

I've been using MD Formulations cleanser with glycolic acid and Sothys Hydroptimale THI3 Comfort Hydrating Cream.

Some may consider both a little pricey. The MD is about $32 and the Sothys is $55. But they last forever and have done great things for my skin so I think both are worth the price.

My skin is much more even in tone and texture and I can actually go without foundation now. Which is a great feeling.

Have to give a shout out to Patricia Wexler Glycolic Peel system. It has radically changed my skin. It is so much smoother and even toned. Takes moisturizer better. My dermatologist says if you do the right kind of exfoliation you do not need facials. And she is right. I haven't had a facial in months and my skin looks great. Microdermabrasion is too rough for my senstive skin but glycolic products work great. It is about $60 or so for the peel system. Jjust pads, not a "system" - you wipe your face with the first pad, 2 minutes later you wipe with a neutralizer pad. I use it every other night.

Regenerist cream is a moisturizer. The Microdermabrasion kit is just that - it's a kit (two items) - it says it on the box. Any microdermabrasion kit will indicate it is such in the name.

No problems with breakouts or clogging your pores?? I'm intrigued...

Not so far! My sister uses it too; she was told by both her dermatologist and her beauty person to exfoliate and breakouts shouldn't be a problem. I use baking soda and water to exfoliate.

I have been using LaRoche-Posay sunscreens for years, lately I tried a different one called "Creme Fondante Anthelios XL". I used "Anthelios SL" in the past, available in the US but the UVA/UVB protection is not as effective as the European XL version .

I like Creme Fondante because of it's creamy, silky but not greasy texture. It did not clog my pores.

My mom used to bring me some whenever she visits, and lately I have purchased it from pharmamundi.com, it's a pharmacy based in Spain. I haven't had any problems with them, fast shipping and no weird charges on my cc so far.

Thanks again everyone! I love hearing what works for you and the homemade remedies as well.

Julie, what type of skin do you have? Mine is normal/dry and I've had some glycolic based products REALLY dry out my skin where it took a week or so to get it back to normal. I'm definitely interested in this system.

I always used to try and pay as little as possible for skincare but I've realized that sometimes paying more for this is definitely worth it. I never thought I'd pay the prices that I'm paying now but for "natural beauty" :), it's most definitely worth it.

After hundreds of hours of researching this.....I finally went to a great website called Makeup Alley.com (not sure if it's all one word). Anyway.....many people loved natural Jojoba oil as a MIRACLE OIL!!!!! I bought some at Trader Joes for only about 6.99. I combine a small amount with my Purity cleanser by Philosophy. My face has never felt smoother or cleaner. I now use.....you're not going to believe this.....cetaphil moisture cream (not the lotion) as my new facial moisturizer. I love it!!!! Goes on smooth, no yucky fragrance, and keeps me looking moist and dewey. I've also switched to Sally Hanson's liquid Makeup Foundatin created by Carmandi (From What Not TO Wear)....It is the best foundation I've ever used and even is great under a concealer.

Here's my whole skincare routine (and it is amazingly inexpensive):

  1. In my morning shower, I use Oxy Face Wash Extra Strength on my whole face.
  2. Still in the shower, I follow the Oxy with a paste I make of baking soda and water, that I lightly scrub onto my face as an exfoliant (obviously avoiding the eyes!)
  3. As soon as I jump out of my shower, even before towelling off the rest of me, I dry my face lightly and put on a light Neutrogena moisturizer.
  4. I then put on a very light blush while my face is still damp. I don't wear any other makeup except for lipstick. That's it for the morning.
  5. I don't clean my face in the evening nowadays; all I do is put on a thin layer of Clindoxyl for acne and go to sleep. Clindoxyl is a prescription that mixes an antibiotic with Benzoyl Peroxide. I no longer have acne because of it. I have had one pimple in the last month (and it's a small one). But I keep using it because it prevents pimples from starting. It doesn't dry out my skin at all.

I'm 38 years old, and people are usually shocked about my age - people seem to think I'm in my twenties. I stopped wearing full makeup a few years ago and no one noticed! I think I look younger because I stayed out of the sun for most of my life. Now I walk everywhere, so the sun damage might start happening now. However, at the moment, I am happy with how my skin looks.
