Morning Fit Ladies -
This is the last day of my recovery week and on with P90X. I may add in some different aerobics from now until the end of the program though. I did Izett's X-treme Step this morning. I jumped right in and did the beginner section and then moved onto the next segment int/adv and I followed the first 2 moves and then I got lost, so I skipped back and repeated the beginning segment again and then did the cool down (about 60"). I also did Tias Little's River Flow Yoga (50").
Xtreme step is a intense step tape with a hip hop beat and groove to it. The first part was a lot of fun and basically just regular step aerobics with his own spin on them (called different names than what we're used to). The 2nd segment starts getting a lot more complicated. I got lost on a step called Slasher 1 and Slasher 2 and it was a lot of shuffling steps and spinning. At the end of my workout, I even went to the end "Clinic" part of the tape to try to learn it where they show the move and then show it in slow motion and I still couldn't get it....but I didn't try very hard. I may just do my own version for the steps that are too confusing for me right now, as this is a lot of fun and has a lot of new, different and creative coreography in it.
Izett is a likeable guy and has a lot of rhythm. He was even nice enough to stop in on a thread about his new DVD over at VF yesterday. Everyone that did the tape loved the beginning segment but was saying how the rest of it was over their heads and he jumped in and explained that it is totally different than anything on the market and that the more advanced segments are mainly for people who have been taking his classes and want a challenge. He said to be patient. It does look like lots of fun and I'll be reaching for this a lot. Also, they do the tape on just the step (no risers) and I tried the beginning segment like that, but ended up putting a riser under my step for more intensity. That being said, when I was trying the slasher steps towards the end......I see why they have their step that low. It is almost impossible to do that fast footwork and spin with the step up high.
Looks like I won't have any real rest days for a long time, as I've got my work cut out with me on learning coreography for probably a good year if I practice on my rest day (every Saturday) between this DVD and my new Seasun. I was also thinking about picking up Seasun's The Next Step so I can get $10 off my total order.
Have great workouts or rest days everyone.
Debbie - I bet you'll be glad to start working out again tomorrow. Your new rotation looks good. I'll have to print it for a future rotation.
Diana Sue - I think you'll like Amy's Step & Pump as an add on. I would also like it as a single workout but you could do it twice. I also think there are some new TurboJam's on the horizon for the Fall. I can't remember the exact dates. Also, Kelly Coffey has a new one coming out. Did you end up getting her step tape? I better start saving my money now.....seems like there's some new stuff coming. I'm looking forward to receiving my BArry's Bootcamp in October. I guess the site has been updated to show clips and everyone at VF is raving about the music in them. I can't see them cuz I have a dial-up modem. They are supposed to be 1 body part a day and then a treadmill interval workout on each tape. He's supposed to be the toughest trainer in Hollywood. He's also a recovering addict - so he holds a special place in my heart.
Megadoo - Wow, a firefighter. That's an interesting volunteer job. I guess that would be a workout in it's own.
Hi to everyone else........my biking ladies!! And Terri, I hope you're doing okay coping with the loss of dog.
Wow.......I'm longwinded.......as usual....sorry!
