Morning Fit Ladies -

This morning I did P90X Chest & Back. My rotation also called for Ab Ripper X, but I did Turbo Jam Ab Jam lying exercises with med ball and ankle weights instead. I subbed a few sets of chest flies for the floor pushups, as I don't want to flare my disc pain up too much (hopefully).

I can't believe it's Monday already. Where do the weekends go? They fly by.

Have great workouts and I'll try to check in from work later.
 
Gosh, I am up already...body, not mind. Try to get in some crunches before I leave. Think the hotel will have a fitness center too.

Well I am packing now and hopefully will get more of a tan...kind of fades out this time of the year for me. Going to Water Country today.

I will be with dh all the while....so no more weirdo's to bother me!!!!

Morning , ladies. I have GS legs and some cardio on the wire for today.After work
I woke up with a stiff neck . OUCH, does it hurt.Biofreeze is going to work today.
I didn't like p90x . I am going to e-bay them. Something about it.
I tried and not my thing. I like Cathe.

I was going to hit some cardio yesterday, but after 40 min abs ,i went to the store and came back and played with grandson.
Then i copied alot of his movies so we could have a copy for both houses. That took all day.
So, it was a 1/2 a rest day.
Well,coffee bedmakling , bath and to work.

Well, this mornings workout was good but I just didn't "feel" it like I did last week and the week before. I think because I tried doing 5 rep sets and its really hard for me to know what weights to use to get to failure with such low reps. Next time I'll stick with 8. I varied the reps on some exercises because I knew I could do more.

This is what I did, 4 sets/5 reps (or more) with a 60 second rest period between sets:

First exercise called for Sumo-style deadlifts. Ummm, no thanks. Could not figure out what to substitute because this works the hips and low back. I cannot even test something like this out for fear of my low back going out. So I did

Side Lateral Raises - 17's each hand
SS Grip Pull Ups - 5/ 3½ / 3½ / 3½ (not too happy with this, I probably shouldn't have done side laterals)
Incline DB Bench Press - 35's each hand 7/6/5/5
Preacher Curls - 45# 5/6/5/5 (struggled with the last set)
Front Squats - now this was hard - not for my legs but for my shoulders. Your suppose to hold the barbell in front of you. I used 55# and glad I didn't go any higher because my shoulders were killing me. Did NOT like this at all. I tried concentrating on my squat but was distracted by my shoulders so did not get a good 4 sets with this one at all. Bummed!
Seated Calf Raises - 55# barbell on my mid-thigh, did not feel these at all. Did 4 sets of 25 reps.

So next time this program asks for 5 reps I'll go with 8. I doubt I'll feel this one tomorrow.

Charlotte - I'm glad you are ok, that was scary! How long will you be gone on vacation? Have fun!

Today I changed up my workout some as I am still sore from last week. I started with I Max3, ran on the treadmill for1.5 miles, then I did the pryamid total body premix. I have never done this one. I really liked it, I then did the Pyramid lower floorwork that was not on the premix, I followed this with 22minutes of X Stretch. I think I am going to try and do 3 full body workouts and 3 ab workouts this week.

Charlotte, that was scarey. Was your dh upset when you told him? I hope you have a nice time.

Anne, P90X took some getting used to, but once I had done it for awhile I really liked it. Not anything like Cathe though. I really like some of the different exercises on these though. It was a good change.

Debbie, I am not wild about front squats either. Sometimes I just do them with the bar on my shoulders. I like to go heavy and doing front squats this way hurts my shoulders.

Well, i am e-baying P90X.
I am trying to work out this neck to work out.
I took an 800 motrin.
I want to do legs today and throwing 60 on my shoulders may make me worse.
That was that 40 minutes of abs yesterday. I am paying.
Does the ptb premix go all up or all down or the full sets?

Anne - not that this is of any help - but I get stiff necks and trap pain all of the time cuz of my facet problems and disc problems in my cervical spine. Right now I'm sleeping on a water pillow to see if it helps, but no matter what kind of pillow I try, I still have severe problems, so I sympathize with you. Yes, I can't even hold 40 pounds of barbell weight on my shoulders for an entire Cathe DVD. I have to switch between dumbells and barbell. The other thing that flares my neck and traps is working shoulders with the bands in the Gym Styles. I usually apply heat and use a home percussion massager and I have Yamuna balls that I lie on at night to try to work out the spasms.

I do P90X with my own music playing and that's one of the reason's I like it so much. It's easy to follow, you can vary your reps each workout and listen to your own music. I tend to like goofy Tony though also.

Speaking of pain, my sciatica is flaring today and I'm not going to be able to do Plyo X in the morning. I'll probably have to do rebounder aerobics.
 
Well I tried to wo tonite and oooh. It hurt. I said loisten to your body and go make some shrimp marinara.
I know it was the 40 min of abs. So, heat or ice.
the motrin has helped some. I keep rollon on the biofreeze.
I just get this guilt trip when i skiip a day.
I did gs back Fri. That probably didn't help.
Thanks for the advice.
I need to buy a hot tub. I ran the jets on the tub on it this am.
God, a bummer.
I hate hurting pain.

Soaking in epsom salts in the tub helps me also. Do you think you strained your neck during Coremax? I have to be careful and support my head sometimes when they are not. I live in Youngstown. It's about 45 minutes North of East Liverpool. I see your in PA. What part? I was also curious what you do for a living. I'm a secretary in a hospital here. (I put Biofreeze on ALL day long!! Couldn't live without it and I'm sitting here with a heat pack on my neck now.....it does tend to get you down, doesn't it?). I hope you feel better soon.
 
Geez Lora and Anne! I sure hope you guys feel better soon! Any kind of pain like that sucks!
So Anne, why don't you like P90x? I have been thinking of getting it myself. Just to add some variety you know, plus I was hoping my DH might like it some.

Pyramid Lower Body is all done Pyramid up. It does have quite a bit of lower body in it because it does leg press twice. It also has the calf work. I hope your neck gets better. I have done that before. It is miserable. Take it easy, it will let up in a few days. I remember someone saying they did abs with a 35# weight plate behind their head once and I thought I can do that. Well, not being used to it I paid for quite a while. I should have known better and built up to it.
