Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Thurs July 5

I ended up doing Cardio Coach 2 on the TM and Bike followed by Jillian's Kickbox Cardio. I'm still not at normal capacity with my strength and did fall behind a bit with my HR but not quite as bad as the last 2 days. Cardio with c/d and stretch was 1 hour 7" and I burned 418 calories. I then did a few extra hamstring stretches and then I did Ravi & Ana's Yoga Cleanse - Love Your Liver (between the bad food yesterday and the recent medication I've been taking....I figured I needed it).

I need advice on how to "sweeten up" the hubbie to get something i really want. Buckcherry is playing at the Palms Casino in Vegas on 8-4 and since I'll be getting a job the end of the month and this is my last chance for a vacation, I want to go to Vegas and see the show while we're there. We have no money saved and would have to charge it. I also have some money stashed around here that I told DH I'd lend to him until he could pay me back....but he's not really considering it yet. Any ideas....besides the obvious one!! LOL. Our stove doesn't work so I can't cook! Maybe I should go to Mom's and bake???? although, we're trying to watch our diets.....I'm baffled.

Randi - the Firm workouts are available thru Firmdirect.com now. They also just came out with an extra multipack with 5 more workouts....which of course I had to order. If you get them, you have to tell me what you think of Annie's physique. She's the one that's the fitness competitor. Very inspiring. I noticed there is one other new instructor that is ripped...but I'm not sure I know her name yet. I only saw her pic when looking at the website. Check it out and see what I'm talking about. ARe you going to get them.

Deb - did you download that Incubus song, Dig yet? Also the new Puddle of Mudd is called Famous and is good. Do you like them? Their first 2 albums rocked. Also, Velvet Revolver's new song is something about a Big Machine.

Toasty - (half kidding)......would your DH let you go to Vegas with me??? I know mine wouldn't! and where would we get the money? Well...there's always that darned street corner! Do you have your BPAL oil for that???

Speaking of rock - has anyone seen Buckcherry's video Everything on VH1? I had the TV on while doing cardio coach and it came on !! It was great. I guess they are only playing stadiums here on out....no more small shows...thus the reason I want to go see them in Vegas.

This morning was Back, Legs & Bi's working with angulars. 1 minute rest between each set.

Back
Decline pullovers: 42# - 4 sets/12 reps (last week did 12/12/12/10)
Kelso Shrugs: 55# - 4 sets/15 reps - http://www.weighttrainersunited.com/latshrug.html
***I like these, I needed something other then pullovers for the second exercise. These worked well.

Legs
Leg Extensions: 65# - 4 sets/20 reps - (up 5#)
Hamstring Curls: 45# - 3 sets/20 reps

Biceps
Concentration Curls: 27# - 3 sets/12 reps (last week did 12/12/10)
Incline Dumbbell Curls: 17's - 3 sets/15 reps (These burn so bad!)
***Wrists hurt again doing concentration curls but not as bad. Seems to be getting better.

Also, Randi - sorry - I don't have a digital camera. the only reason I have that Avatar is cuz someone at the Meet & Greet with Buckcherry took that pic of me with the drummer and sent it to me and I asked her to email it to me. I'm small on top ecto with a bit of a mesmo lower body. I could stand to lose about 5-7 pounds to look really lean....but I'm not real overweight. I guess I look toned but I'd like to look ripped! I've been told by a female physical medicine doctor that I'm in "great shape" and she said she could tell I worked out ...and that was a few years back. I guess we're all our own worst critics....ya know how that goes. You look great by the way! You're very pretty. Love your long blond hair. My hair is much longer than it was in the Avatar. I just got chopped before that pic! It's long and wild now...cuz I have naturally curly hair and it's that time of year!! LOL.

I best go get ready for the grocery shopping!

Just had to pop in to say ............I"M FREAKIN SO EXCITED!! Going to see Hinder & Buckcherry at the Palms CAsino in Vegas on August 4th.. tickets on the way and our airfare is booked!! We got free room stay at Harrah's.............SCREAM!!!!!!! I can't believe i talked him into it on the phone !! I guess I owe him some baked goods and well,.....ya know!!!
 
Hey Maniacs! Just finished up my bike ride. Did a steep hill climb. My top speed on the hill ranges from 3-4 mph. So, it's a good one. It's going to be another HOT day today. Supposed to get up to 102 degrees. Hoping to get a circuit workout in later today.

Lora- Very cool! How'd ya get free rooms? You can't beat that.
Remember it's hot as Hadies in Vegas in Aug. I glad you talked dh into it. Try to have some fun while you pay him back.;)}( Oy!

Debbie-Those Kelso shrugs look cool! I'll have to try that sometime.

Randi-I had a great day yesterday. We had smoked ribs and vegies. Ended up tired and went to bed early and missed the fireworks.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

My family is here from Maryland. Hard getting work outs in. Did half of arms/shoulders yesterday...that sucked. I got downstairs early in the morning at 10am and doorbell rings..sister got here early. Was glad to see her though. Did ab ripper this morning. Yoga is on schedule, but don't see that happening with everyone here so went on elliptical. Got the darn strap to fit. Just tied it in a knot in the back. lol. Worked! So got a different reading. Staying at 118 was 65% which I found not hard enough and stayed higher. 145 was 70% and that was a nice place to be. Took it to 160 just to be crazy and could hardly breathe. lol. So I ended up doing same program as yesterday and said I burned 232 cals and still traveled 3 miles.

Vegas is out. Broke..broke..broke. Sorry girl, you know I would love to. Don't tease me.

Hey Peeps!

This morning I was just going to do an easy spin on my bike for an hour and then come home and lift shoulders, back and chest since last night I only did bi's, tri's and abs. But as I was leaving my house my girlfriend called and said she just got out of bed and wanted to ride (not the pregnant one). I couldn't say no, even though I should have since my legs need a break. I rode for an hour and 20 minutes. My legs are TIRED! I guess I'm lifting the rest of upper body tonight.

Lora - Way to go on talking your DH into it. How'd you do that???

Debbie - GREAT workout as usual. Those Kelso shrugs look cool. I'm gonna try them.

Randi - Great job on Drill Max! That's a long one - and a goodie!

Dallys - Yikes - a hill climb that's 3-4mph must be STEEP!!! Good job!

Char - Which half of your arms did you work? :p

Suz- What time do you get up to ride and what time to you go to work? You are getting in some good early morning rides and I'm jealous.:p I'm trying to figure out how to get a longer ride in in the morning. It'd be perfect if I could get my customers to come at 10:00 instead of 9:00 (they'll probably hate that). I'm thinking of changing my hours while it's so freaking hot. Thinking, thinking.
My hill climb is a good one for how short it is. It's just shy of a 3 mile climb. The fun part is comeing down, but I panic if I get going over 28 mph, just can't do it, I picture major wreakage all the way down and can't keep off the brakes. I bet I could get going over 35+ if I didn't use the brakes. It just takes that one rock or groove in the road to send ya flyin'. It's a mental game.

We all start our rides at 6am from our houses and meet at a central place at 6:20 (well, I don't think it takes my pregnant friend 20 minutes to get to our meeting place so she probably leaves later) and then I have to be home by 7:30 and at work by 8:30. But some days I'm a little late. :) I'm lucky that they let me flex my hours in the summer. We have summer hours so most people work 7:30 - 4, but I work later so I can ride. As it gets closer to fall and the days get shorter our rides get shorter, obviously. Boo hoo.

I hear ya - I have fun going downhill, but I'm also scared. I end up going faster than I'd like only b/c I'm too scared to go too slow. My DH and his friend were all impressed with my downhill speed the first time they took me mountain biking last year. Little did they know it was fear-driven. :p Hmmm...28mph seems awfully fast!!!

My friend Mel who reads this but doesn't check in with us said that her DH broke his wrist mountain biking recently so his doctor who he mountain bikes with made his cast in such a shape that he could still ride. He had him hold onto a bar as if he were riding. Now is that crazy or what? :)

Lora - still can't download Dig. WTF? I don't get why I can't get that song. I'm so jealous of you seeing Hinder. I love that group. Where is the concert being held at?

Til Saturday. Playing non stop board games with kids right now. I just can't sit down there and watch them play for sooooo long or sit there and try to talk when they are in the middle of a game.
 
Suz- Ok, so you get going an hour before me. I don't want to get up earlier...I don't, don't make me! LOL! I guess I just need to do it. It would make my life so much simpler if I did.:)

funny thing is, I'm awake at 6:00-6:15, but just lay there and watch TV until 7:00..la la la. Finally I get up, liiinger around for 1/2 hr. or more wondering why didn't I clean the house alittle last night, Geez! Or I absent-mindedly spend to much time on the computer and then I panic that I don't have enough time to get in a good workout. Now that I think more about it. I'm totally un-organized with my time.

The hill I climbed is on a paved road (actually the road to get to the mountain), so that's where the speed comes in. I can't imagine going 28mph on dirt! I'd forsure be dead, or need to have a special body cast made just for riding (what's that Drs. name? lol). I like downhill, but not that death-defying kind! I keep thinking "do all those crazy road bikers just sail down these hills with no brakeage? I'm sure with the skinny tires they'd be going even faster!"

Char- I played Monopoly and Mexican hat all weekend. Then I played a pretend game with a 4 yr. old. My player was a miniture Barbie and his was a rock. LOL! He set up blocks for the board. He always won and got mad if I said I won. I was bored to tears, but couldn't escape!

Deb - I love LOVE Hinder also. Papa Roach is also playing. It's called the Bad Boys of Rock. They are also coming to Pittsburgh and Cleveland soon....but I don't want to go to those cuz Hinder has a Fan Club and had presales ....so all the good seats went to Hinder Fans and the concert venue in the Palms Casino in Vegas is a small place like a Hard Rock venue and thus it has a front section that is general admission so I can fight my way to the front row!! That's really the only way to see them! the lead singer from Hinder is sort of sexy too....love his artwork on his arms as well......oh yea....me and my tattoo obsession. You should go to Cleveland and see them. They are playing the Time Warner Amphitheatre at Tower City on 8/24...same tour.

Toasty - me and you in Vegas would spell TROUBLE!!!!!!!!

Suz- I guess I can't take too much credit for talking him into it....as I came up with all sorts of cash I had saved to lend him and he LOVES Vegas and is stressed at work......so once he got over the initial shock and lectured me on "this is something a using drug addict would do" (and I thought in the back of my head....a using addict would never have the money or be on the ball enough to pull this together in the half hour that we did!!! Now he's psyched and I've already got my travel bag packed!! ! LOL!!

Dallys- The DH has a cold now....so I won't be having fun with him for a few days!!
 
Dallys - I wake up around 5 or 5:10, feed the dogs, feed the birdies and then get ready for my ride. I will admit that it's so much easier this time of year when it's light outside. :) If I turned on the tv I'd be in trouble! And getting on the computer - that REALLY slows me down. I can really procrastinate with the best of 'em.

Oh - okay. I feel better knowing you're going that fast on pavement. Yup, you could go much faster on a road bike with skinny tires. No problem! :p

Lora - Well, you are very smart and your plan worked! And I doubt a drug addict could have pulled something like that off. I hope your DH feels better. Don't you catch it. Better get some ColdMD! You know I swear by that stuff. Haven't had a cold in I bet 2 years (nice grammar, huh?).

Dallys- I think I'm going to try a book circuit from Jillian's book tomorrow. I was looking at the newer book and the circuit looks a bit more complicated (some moves I'd have to look up and such) and since it's getting late....not sure I'd have time to look them up. Should I stick with the first book and just do the first circuit listed for Day 1? or do you think that it will be too easy?

Anyone heard of The Brain Muscle Workouts with Michael Gonzalez Wallace ....was featured in Oprah's magazine (not that I read Oprah) but I heard of them on VF and just got them in the mail. They look like FF workouts.

Also -- just got my Kung Fu Kickbox workout from Amazon. It's an Acacia production. REALLY Cool looking stuff. Very "martial artsy" and cool. I can't wait to try it. It has a "Killer" workout a Kick It one and a beginner one. I previewed it briefly. Some tough pushups, kicks, punches with squat thrust type moves and the lead instructor is pretty cool. She's a good instructor and awesome with the moves. She's Asian. The music is that real Far Eastern influenced type of music that's on my Duncan Wong Yogic Arts DVD. I really like it (think Shiva Rea - - I think she used it on her Trance Dance DVD). I'll report back after I actually do them......but my box of "not yet done" keeps growing!!! YOY!!!

Deb - I wonder why you can't download that freakin song. I'm ready to just buy the CD. If I do....I'll burn it for you......if it's good.
