Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Thurs July 26

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Yoga today.

Just an update on FIL..

he went to John Hopkins and they were able to go ahead and give him chemo right in the liver. They tell him to come back in another month for another treatment. I wonder if he will be able to beat it as he is really very frail looking now. It would be something if he could.

Charlotte~~

This morning I decided to just do some steady state and endurance stuff on my treadmill. I can't believe I did 3 - 5 minute endurance jogs. I just can't do endurance when it comes to running but I felt I did really well. Loaded up some good music on my MP3 and the time seem to fly for a change. Need to do abs tonight.

Cardio stats:
1:00 hr. total
48 min. in zone
344 calories burned
3.5 miles travelled

Dallys - I am working one body part a week now. Chest/Tri's one day, Back, Bi's, Traps one day, shoulders one day and legs one day. Two days of cardio.

No bruise on the hip! Happy about that!

Char - I'm sorry about your FIL, I hope he can beat this.

Hope you all have great workouts!

I ended up doing Cy-yo Fire Segment(spinning workout). I extended it by repeating the last 10 minutes of sprints. I also sat for some of the standing hills (cuz there was a lot and I didn't want to put the pressure on my foot...as I didn't have my boot on). Workout was 75" and I burned 440 calories, but I didn't start my HRM until the 10 minutes of yoga was over at the beginning. I also did Ravi & Ana's Dr. Yoga House Call -Health and Happiness premix 16".

Charlotte - They supposedly have come a long way with technology ....so hopefully between that and prayers.....he will go into remission and be able to enjoy a bit more of his life. My prayers are with you and your family. Sorry your family has to go thru this. Hang in there. On a happier note, did you end up buying either of the Lunar blends? Did you like the tee shirt?

Dallys & Suz - I really liked this spinning workout. As I said yesterday, it starts with 10 minutes of yoga and then you get on the bike and do sprints, intervals, hills, etc. Then he stretches your upper body out on the bike as your cooling down and spinning with hardly any resistance. At that point, you get off the bike and stretch your legs out using the bike and then you do tree pose and down dog (maybe another pose...can't remember). The music is good and as I stated yesterday, each song goes really well with the particular segment you are doing. I'd call it light rock/funk from local Boston musicians. The class is in a Gold's Gym (so no fabulous outdoor setting like Mindy has in her Super Cycle workout). I liked it, but if I was going to critique it and look at it another way, I could see some people (who are pickier than me) getting a little annoyed at some of the instructors comments. He talks about working that cellulite off the legs or pedal for those brownies, etc. It didn't bother me, but I'm not used to hearing that kind of talk in a workout. He also throws in some comments about releasing negativity and then concentrating on positive things and visualize yourself and how you'd like to look in 6 months, etc. This part did not bother me at all and I liked it. For one song, he tells you to pedal thinking about the worst boss you every had, etc. Also, I don't think this is as rigid or structured as a Cardio Coach because he doesn't specifically say what levels or gears and one time, he even says to "free form" it. After I realized that's what we were doing, I started having a better workout, but at first I think I missed a few of his cues because of his style of teaching. Next time I do it, I will know what to expect. I will do the Ice section next cardio day.

Have great workouts. I have to go to the grocery store in a little bit.

Morning Maniacs! I finally broke thru a plateau! There is hope in this world afterall! LOL! I've been doing extreme things to break this and nothing has worked, you know, the old "frozen scale" syndrome. I finally went back to basics, logging calories and eating 5 mini meals a day, ratios, the whole bit, and waalaa, off melts a pound in just 2 days. Not much, yet huge at the same time.

Today I plan on a walk and doing some upperbody, probably BM2 upper 2 times.

Lora- Thanks for the info. on that workout. I hate irritating comments, but yet I still do Eoin Finns yoga with his "feels like licking ice cream off the body" comment. And without fail, that's when dh always walks in with the eye roll. :+

Char- It's amazing what they can do with cancer nowadays. I'm praying they can help your FIL. Have fun with yoga today!

Suz- Can you believe that Rassmussen is out of the race? This is getting exciting. Like, who is clean and who isn't? A competition of who can make it the farthest without getting caught. They all want it so bad that they are risking everything!

Debbie- I like the one body part a day workout.:) I don't have much endurance running either. It is always hard for me. Do you walk and run on the treadmil doing the CC's? That's what I have to do.

Anne- I hope this surgery will fix everything and all goes well. Will be fun having you here to chat more. You are crazy and we love that.:D

Oh! Editing to add this great site for exercises. You can punch in any body part with any piece of equipment and get an exercise for it. click on the exercise and it will animate it.

I put up a new picture of the front of my legs. Do you all see any difference..my butt looks the same..not as good as Suz. lol

feels like licking ice cream off the body" comment. And without fail, that's when dh always walks in with the eye roll.

Thanks ya'll. Yeah, and standing next to toilet..I know, tacky! lol. I really feel my quads have been getting worked out alot lately on bike, etc. Backside will begin to show more improvement as I continue with elliptical and do more ATG squats, etc. It doesn't look bad, just about the same still.

Mornin'!

This morning I FINALLY did Diane Sue's tricep workout (minus the part with the bands since mine haven't arrived yet) and biceps. Now I know why her biceps look so awesome and why mine flap in the wind! I also did an easy 45 minute spin on the bike in the basement, as my legs needed a rest day. Wanted to do an hour but dinked around too long.

Charlotte - Will you stop! The front of your legs look waaaaaay better than mine, TRUST ME! Did you see any shots of the front of my legs??? Your legs look amazing girl. Let's all keep praying for your FIL. That would be awesome if he beat this thing!

Debbie - We're holding you to those abs tonight. :)

Lora - I'm not sure about that workout. I HATE when people talk about food during a workout. Then I'll start wanting brownies. :p I'm not sure I'd do the yoga. But I do like the whole visualizing what you want to look like in 6 months and getting rid of cellulite, etc. Thanks for the thorough review. DH was just looking at some Chris Carmichael DVD's (Lance's coach) that he wants to get for the winter. Of course I'd LOVE that!

Storm - Good luck today. You're gonna be a knockout! Not that you aren't already. :*

Dallys - It just makes the professional sport of cycling look like a joke. It broke my heart to hear that this morning. DH rode with a buddy of his this morning and called me when he got back and told me the sad news. Now it's anybody's Tour, isn't it? I was pretty sure Rasmussen was going to win.

Suz,

lol. Well I talked to dh a bit more and looks like when they injected the chemo into liver there was only one vein feeding the cancer. Other words, looks like he has a good shot at beating this, or at least adding another 1-4 years to his life. He can have his dogs back. I am tired of them. They smell and like to go out every hour...like I have time for that? lol

Dallys - CC workouts combine intervals of sprinting and hill climbs. Not much endurance runs except for CC #4 and I think #5 as well. I love to sprint so I always pick the CC workouts that have a lot of sprinting in them. :)

Suz - I hope I don't forget! LOL!

It has been a busy day and I need to clean house. Today I started my workout with Seasun's BOSU blast stopping at the core, then I did SJP step only, I followed with Gym Style Chest and Triceps, and finished with Yoga Shatki shoulder openers and supine poses. I had to go do some grocery shopping and run a couple of other errands. I needed some salad bad.
All pushups on toes
dumbbell bench press 30# dumbbells 3 sets
dumbbell flys 25#dumbbells 3 sets
dumbbell incline bench press 30# 2 sets
dumbbell incline flys 25# 2 sets
barbell close grip bench press 45# 2 sets
triceps dips 45# barbell 24 reps
dumbbell lying extensions 15# dumbbells 2 sets
dumbbell cross body extensions 15# dumbbell 2 sets
band crossbody extensions black theraband(same as purple dynaband)
dumbbell kickbacks 15# dumbbell 2 sets
band kickbacks black theraband

Charlotte, that sounds positive for your fil. I hope it works for him. Your quads are looking good. Got some definition going there. You got good results last time you did P90X. I bet it gets even better by the time you are done this time:)

Anne, I hope everything goes well for you this time. You deserve the best after going through all of this.

Dallys, good for you getting through that plateau. LOL on Eoin's comments. I know some of those comments annoy me but I sure like how the workout makes me feel.

Debbie, glad you didn't get a bruise.

This evening I did ab work even though I'm having cramps like crazy. I actually feel a bit better now.

I did the ab work from Muscle Endurance and then wanted to see what the ab work in Bootcamp entailed. I started watching it and then I just did them. LOL! So I did ME and Bootcamp ab work. Fun stuff! I still LOVE those pyramid plank pushups!!!

Hope you have a great evening!

Diane Sue - I forgot to mention - that recipe you mentioned from the Eat-Clean Diet book with dates and quinoa looks yummy. I'm not sure my DH would like it though. :) I'm pretty sure he's given up on the oatmeal. I still might try to give him a bite of mine when I eat it. I'll try it with some different things. He loves raisins so maybe the cinnamon with raisins will tempt him. I made him the Old Fashioned Oats. Maybe I made it too thick.

Debbie - Way to go on those abs!!!

Toasty - That's so awesome about your FIL. He just may beat this thing after all and be his ornery self again. :) That would be so cool.

I was going to make this shrimp pasta stuff for dinner (out of the Eating for Life cookbook) but I was so hungry when I got home and DH and I were noshing on lowfat Wheat Thins - so many of them - so I ended up just cooking the srhimp with some spices and ate that in a tortilla. DH had already had a hamburger (lean) since there was one patty left over from yesterday that needed to be eaten. Crazy dinner!
