Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Thurs July 19

Good morning!

I feel like I just got off my bike and I'm getting back on. DH and I rode late b/c it took him longer to put my new bike computer on than he thought. So we did a super fast 50 minute ride before it got dark. I had to keep standing up in my pedals to keep up with him. My HR kept getting up in the 180's. He said he wanted to make it a good ride since it was short. :) I already have some DOMS from yesterday morning's PUB. Yay!

Now I'm getting ready to ride with Jen and maybe Chris (my pregnant friend). Chris doesn't always feel well in the mornings though. It will be slow if Chris is there, as she's having more trouble keeping her HR low. Thursdays are our day to ride with her now so she doesn't feel left out. Good for all of us to spin our legs out and get some girl talk in. She won't be able to go with us much longer though she said b/c she'll be going too slow. At least she's getting out there!

Happy workouts everyone!

I ended up doing Cardio Coach 4 on the bike with my boot on. I hopped on the ellipitical a couple times. Had a half decent workout...but not as good as usual. Workout was 58" and I burned 360 calories. I also did a couple segments off of Perfect in 10 Yoga and found that I can't do sun salutations with my foot, as the pushing motion causes pain on my bad metatarsal.

Diane Sue - the doctor said that it would probably take 3-4 weeks to heal cuz I caught it before it bacame "full blown"....but I told him I'm going to Vegas in 2 weeks, so we're hoping it heals enough to be able to walk without the boot in Vegas. I'm seeing them the end of the month for reevaluation.

Have great workouts everyone. I've got grocery shopping this morning.

ETA: Forgot to mention that I got my Afterburn Book....the one by Cosgrove and I looked thru it yesterday and I'm not real happy that I spent so much money on it. I read a little bit of it and what I read is really nothing I didn't already know, nor is it as detailed as the ad trying to sell it. The circuit program looks very much like the circuits in Jillian's books and I actually think Jillian's might be better, as she changes up the moves more frequently and uses more of them....thus creating a lot more muscle confusion. I guess I won't knock it until I try it....but I'm not impressed at this point. (I also think $60 is a LOT to pay for any book......especially this one! Who does he think he is anyway???) rant over...

I think this is the last day of this rotation. I'm sick of it and I need a change. I'll come up with a plan by Saturday. Haven't decided if I'm taking the next three days off and start back on Monday or just keep going and do something new on Saturday. I'll see how I feel.

Today was Back, Bi's & I was suppose to do legs but my low back was feeling really weird and I was suppose to do deadlifts so I just skipped the leg work. Bad me. I must have slept wrong because I was fine yesterday.

Back
Pullovers (warmup): 30# - 2 sets/15 reps
Pullovers: 40# - 12/10/10
Kelso Shrugs: 60# - 4 sets/15 reps (last week was 15/15/12/12)
One-Arm Rows: 35# - 12/12/10
***Notes: Last week I dropped my weights with pullovers. This time I stuck with 40's and did as many reps as I could. I added in one-arm rows since I skipped legs. Figured I had the time so why not? Abs are still really sore and doing the pullovers helped stretch them out a bit. The feel better now.

Biceps
EZ Preacher Curls: 55# - 10/10/8 (up 5#)
Zottman Curls: 17's - 3 sets/15 reps (up 2#)
Hammer Curls: 20's - 9/8/8
***Notes: Holy crap were my biceps pumped after this! My forearms were burning and my bi's felt like they were going to explode. Felt awesome! Zottman's really got me good, I love those. Threw in hammer curls because I had the time.

Hope you all have great workouts!

Deb - you're a true maniac. Great workout.

Has anyone ever seen a cat pant? Brookie runs around playing and pants like a dog! I've never seen a cat do this and she scared me at first. Goodness! She's a maniac too!

Okay Deb - I don't even want to know what your cat was doing in the dryer!

Lora - I had a cat that used to play fetch really well. :)

My ride this morning was an hour and 30 minutes. We kept it pretty low key. The first 20 minutes and the last 20 minutes or so I'm on my own so I can pick up my pace. It was SUPER foggy! I almost didn't go b/c there was no visibility. I had my blinky light on the back of my bike and just tried to stay to the inside. When I met up with my friends we rode for a bit on the roads and then hit the bike path. Much safer. Since we were going slow it didn't matter.

I'm in the middle of house cleaning.....took a sec to eat my salad.

Deb - that's funny......are you serious?? the dryer?? How was Night Shift?? watch it yet? (sorry....not trying to be a pain....just anxious)

Suz - Pandora (God rest her soul) used to play a mean game of fetch!!

One other thing Brooklyn does that's hilarious .....every time I get on the rebounder, she thinks it's a game and when I jump, she sits up on her hind legs and bats at me in the air trying to get me. She's a trip! What would I do without my babies?

Lora, that is good you caught the problem early. That amount of time doesn't seem to bad. I hope it is good when you go back in for Vegas.

Debbie and Suz, my Dad had one of his cats get in the drier when his wife was putting clothes in. They heard the thump and caught it right away.

Lora - That IS funny about Brooklyn! :)

Diane Sue - So when you do those dips, do you have the 45# barbell in your lap? Gosh, I need to work my triceps harder. I complain that they're flabby and I work them all the time, but looking at what you do, I'm not working them hard enough. I'm printing out your workout and weights today. We'll see if I can move my arms after this one! If they don't shape up after this though...

Good thing your Dad and his wife caught their cat right away!!!

Suz, I put the 45# barbell in my lap. I can't do these without the barbell since I have been doing them this way for years with Body Max original and MIC and others of Cathe's. My triceps are one of my better developed areas. DH had someone mention my triceps to him in a store once. She had a gym somewhere here in the city.

Anne, can I open that e mail with the grandchildren here? I usually wait till I am alone LOL

Lora, we had a cat that would play fetch with paper balls and bring them back. Now funny thing my dogs did was run around in circles following the ceiling fan when we first started using it. Looked funny:) Our pets can add some levity to our lives.

Story of my cat in the dryer:

I lived in an apartment and this one day I sprayed for ants. (Kind of beside the point but you'll see where I'm going with this in a minute.) I washed my comforter and the way the washer and dryer was set up in the room was facing each other. So I took the comforter out of the washer and promptly put it in the dryer and closed the door.

About a half hour later I hear this panting noise. I'm like, WTF is that? It scared me. I get up and there is my cat is laying sprawled out on the floor panting like a dog. So at first I thought she licked some of the ant poison and got sick from it. As I did my investigation, I seen that the dryer was open. Here she must have hit the door on one of her spins around(it opened sideways, not up and down) and she must have stopped the dryer and got out. I was freaking out, her hair was all melted together and her pupils were BLACK. I called the vet (emergency # as this was around 10 p.m. at night). They told me to water her down, make sure she drinks tons of water and keep her cool. The sound of the ladies voice that I talked to sounded like she was accusing me of putting her in the dryer. I was hysterical when I called them so why they thought that is beyond me.

That was about 12 years ago and she is still alive and doing very well. :)

Lora - Night Shift SUCKED!!! I watched about 20 minutes of it and went into GH overload. I cannot stand to watch another GH soap. So I'm done with it. It's all I can do to watch GH anymore.

Ummmm...Stormy girl, did you forget to send me the bird e-mail? Me of all people who HAS birds? :p Is that Einstein you are all watching?

Diane Sue - Okay, I'm gonna see if I can do that much. I may never get off the floor! I would love to say someday that my triceps are one of my better developed areas b/c right now they are one of my worst!

Debbie - That is a WILD story. Your poor cat!
