Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did Spinervals Enter the Red Zone. Workout was 65" and I burned 476 calories. This was a toughie. I can't seem to get my HR to 95 or 100% like your supposed to though. I guess I'll have to practice. The highest I got mine was 91-92% of max. My legs are fried. I also did Lotte Berk Blast from Essentials 10" and Yoga on Zuma Beach with Nancy Sutton 30".

Have great workouts everyone.

Diane Sue - I think Lush is a lot better than Villainess. Like I've said before, I don't really care for a whole lot of Brooke's scents. Lush is nice....but it used to be better. I don't care for some of the newer shower gels they have out now. Some of my favorite's have been discontinued which were Chai - like a spicy cinnamon one and Skinny Dip ...which was a white chocolate, violet and clove/spicy one. I also used to really like Narcotick shower gel. The best shower one's they have now are usually the Limited seasonal ones and I really like the scent of Sweetie Pie in the Shower Jelly.....although the shower gelly is harder to use. You should check their website to see if they are going to open a store around you soon. Don't you live in sort of a bigger city? I know Lush has been growing so if you're in a big city, you're more likely to get a local store. Their shipping is expensive. Next time I order (when I have a job), I'll try to remember to let you know and maybe you can try a couple things at that time. Their hair products are really good. The owner of Lush used to be a Trichologist....so he knows hair. I love their solid shampoo bars and American Cream conditioner. Their face products are quite nice also, as is their foot cream.

Charlotte - I noticed that you are working full time now. What made you decide to do that? Is it at the same place?

Suz - I meant to mention Brenda being in that first Spinervals workout I sent you. I kept looking at her thru the enitre DVD thinking....Is that Brenda from Cathe videos?? and then a couple of tougher intervals, she shook her head (like she does in Cathe's) and I knew it was her (sort of) and then towards the end, Coach Troy asks "Brenda" to get up and demonstrate someting.......so I knew it was her. Red Zone actually has a bunch of ladies from VideoFitness' Forum and Brenda is there also. Can't believe how fatigued my legs are today.....does it ever go away? How many times a week do you bike?

Good morning, today is my rest day. My son in law and granddaughter both have birthdays this week so my dd is having a birthday party for both. They are grilling burgers and hot dogs. I think dd said she had a veggie tray too. I am going to have to call our Culligan water people because our water is bad smelling and tasting this morning:( I hate paying to have decent water so this is annoying.
(just a little vent here).

Lora, I do keep checking for a Lush location here. If they had one it would probably be the Mall closest to us. It has Bath and Body Works, Body Shop, and Sephora. It is pretty much a high end Mall. So busy it has a parking garage and valet parking. I hate going there and trying to park. I have found if I can go during the week early it is not to bad though.

The dreaded leg day was upon me. Had a great workout and I really feel good this morning. Hard to explain, just a great peaceful feeling. I had it last night as well when I was walking.

Anyways, here's my workout:

Legs
1:30 min. rest
Squats, elevated heels (warmup):
65# - 1 set/15 reps
85# - 1 set/12 reps

2:00 min. rest
Squats, elevated heels (working sets):
110# - 3 sets/8 reps
*** Love these with the elevated heels. They are just so much more comfortable this way.

Bulgarian Split Squats:
75# - 3 sets/10 reps (up 5#)
***These weren't as hard as they were the first two weeks. Not sure why as I even upped the weights.

SLDL's (elevated toes):
75# - 3 sets/10 reps (up 5#) !!!!!
***These felt pretty good but by the 3rd set my low back got a bit tight. I'll stay with this weight for another week.

Leg Extensions:
95# - 10/10/12 reps
***I love this exercise. My quads look cool when I do them. LOL!

Calf Raises:
GS Legs
***I guess I just love the torture.

Lora - Great workout and calorie burn! I also have problems getting my HR up to the 85% range. I've only been able to do that a few times.

Diane Sue - Enjoy your rest day!

Hi Ladies,

Well, it was windy ALL NIGHT LONG! It even slammed our bedroom door shut - the one that goes out to our deck. About gave me a heart attack! So I knew the ride would be tough. DH must have said something to his cycling buddy b/c he came over and said, "You're riding with us." I was all worried b/c my nemesis was there and she loves to talk smack about being faster than I am (not that we've ridden this year since I've dropped 20 pounds and gotten so much faster - plus she's 15 years younger than I am) and on a non-windy day I think now we are equals based on what she tells me her average speed is but on a windy day forget it. Anyway we passed her on the way back and she was stopped with a flat tire (with somebody there to help). She was waaaaaaay behind us.

So, we only ended up doing 50 because of the wind. The maps were wrong so we sort of took a different turn to get our 50 in so we went through a park which slowed us down for a bit. Our average speed before that was 18.1 but dropped to 17.9 in the end. It took us about 2 hours and 45 minutes (I'm too lazy to get up and check my bike computer). It was TOUGH b/c the guy we were riding with knows EVERYBODY since he manages the bike shop so we'd slow down so he could talk then we'd try to catch the next group of cyclists. That's hard to do. But on the way back it was all business. My legs are TOAST. If it wasn't so hot I'd jump in the hot tub.

OH - I hit DH's back wheel!!! Like 5 quick hits in a row. That usually causes the one who hits (me) to crash. How I stayed up I don't know. It was a God thing.

Enough of that. Lora, I ride about 5 days a week. The 6th day I usually do a CC. I just love to ride. Last year when I wasn't as fast I was really burned out by this time of the year and was really dreading my rides. If I could just figure out my breathing problems I think I'd love it even more.

We have the cycling club picnic this afternoon. :)

Have a nice Sunday.

Diane Sue - Not sure you'll see this, but I was just wondering - you have a motorcycle, right? Do you ride alone? My dh and I are thinking of purchasing a couple bikes next summer. I really want one but am scared a little bit. How do you like riding? What kind of bike do you have?

Diane Sue - Another question for you. Did you say whether or not you ordered the new workouts? I'm worried that they're too short with the cardio only being 30 minutes (or so) and the weight work being the same. Since I try to do an hour of cardio 6 days a week and weights longer than 30 minutes I worried about these workouts. I'm still seriously considering S&H. Thanks!

I'm gonna go lay down. I have a migraine. :(

We had fun at the birthday party today. I didn't eat a bun with my hamburger and had some broccoli. I did have a small piece of cake and some Chex mix. I kind of picked the pretzels out LOL. I came home and gave my dogs their baths.

Debbie, I just ride on the bike with dh. Ours is a Kawasaki Vulcan. Lots of women ride. One of the dental assistants in our dental office rides one and has a seat on it to take her child to daycare. I have not ridden a bicycle in years so I think I would need training wheels for the motocycle LOL Ours is so big when I sit in the seat and try to move it is hard because it is heavy and I can't get both feet on the ground. We have an intercom system in our helmets so we can talk to each other while riding.

Suz, yes I ordered the new workouts. I think I will probably add to the workouts but I will see how they are first. It looks like there are plenty of premixes and options. If you don't have S&H it is a great weight series. All three workouts are around an hour long.
